  • PREPARE YOURSELF.... Prepare your imagination to run wild with the countless places, activities and adventures you could have on all corners of the globe with a hull form like this!
This Molokai 47 by Aquila Yachts has to be one of the most interesting designs I have had the pleasure of testing. The reason I say that is because with a platform like this you really are without limits. She has range, she'll handle big seas, she's got bucket loads of speed and the design and space utilization makes this something that will appeal to a wide variety of ocean lovers.
I'm actually excited to see all the interesting adventures that you guys have planned for this boat and can't wait to see all the different environments this Molokai 47 ends up serving.
If you are looking for a fantastic all rounder that is finished to a very high standard then do yourself a favor and inspect this boat.
This one's a cracker so I hope you enjoy!

My buddy is getting one of these to live aboard in the Bahamas and run fishing tours as well as fishing himself and diving, etc everything one would rent a boat to do. This has been his dream for years and just hit his 20 years !!!

What an incredible clever and powerful concept this is. Now add a generous pinch of European style to the interior and the cockpit (and replace the American Neo-Baroque: plastic fake wood parts and chunky upholstery) - and you have a perfect boat.

Those fold down aft seats make for quite the social space aft though. I was thinking it could be cool if the helm seats spun around and a drop in lunch table for the cockpit area could be cool (provided there is enough leg room)…

😂i left this one in THREE places ! However I won't abuse your comment section in the future.
@BoatLife_DansBoatLife must have grown on me because I subscribed and kept watching more of them. I was confused about the 2 channels thing..I was typing the comment and dropped my phone and it changed the video to some car reviews so I typed in what I thought was the same boat and clicked on the thumbnail that looked the same to me?
You do a fantastic job showing the product. Neither too fast, missing things I'd be interested in or too slow dragging out things that are too technical we'd get from the sales reps. I wish you all the success in the world. I hope that you and those you care for are happy, healthy, and safe. Semper Fidelis
P.S. it's going to be Veterans day here tomorrow and if you get the chance please buy a beer for one of your own. I didn't think that I could possibly like Australia any more than after I experienced the ( tennis balls with girls names numbers and measurements come flying onto the deck upon our arrival...well and the sheer beauty of the place and people..but then I ran into some of our SASR cousins in Afghanistan ( I'd met some a couple times before when they came with the Britts and Germans to train with us and liked them fine) but the truth about people comes out in life and death moments and they didn't disappoint. When my team conscientiously objected to the U.N. command to abandon a small village to a large force of Russian led Pakistani ,Iranians, and Syrians who were going to kill the whole village because they allowed the Catholic orphanage to teach their women and girls how to read. Everyone left..even our U.S. army reservists (at least they left behind their Humvee and .50 with lots of 5.56 ammo)
Then it was just my team of Devil Dogs and those brave SASR guys. They were shoulder to shoulder with us in the absolute worst of it I've seen since Somalia and they never wavered...and they paid for it.
Still they stayed in it with us for 32 hours of HELL..up til we were backed in with the children huddled behind us and we told them to run for it and they called us some unpleasant names and shared our M.R.E.s then the U.S. forces broke through and it was over. As over as something like that gets. You come from a land that breeds warriors.

Wow… what a story 😮… good on you blokes for sticking it out! That is a pretty heavy experience to have to endure… I’m just happy to hear the SASR guys stuck in there with you. We call that mateship… you don’t leave your mates. I’m in Colombia so won’t get a chance to meet any servicemen tomorrow however I do know a few back home so I’ll share this story. I’d say they would be please to hear this.

Stunning boat. How would it perform with quad OXE 300hp diesel outboards using Sharrow props? The OXE 300 hp produces 502ft-lbs of torque vs the Mercury 450R which produces 459ft-lbs. I'm guessing it would result in some very long legs.

I can't believe this doesn't have a small stove somewhere as standard, even if it's not going to be used. As long as a boat (or RV, etc.) has a galley, heads and berth it becomes a 2nd home for tax purposes and you can take mortgage interest as a tax break. There are this-and-that's to check but you will end up thousands of dollars a year better off in your pocket. The rules are the bed, toilet and "cooking facility" (doesn't specify what type) must be "permanently installed", so a built-in wired-in microwave would count. I know he says there's a Country Kitchen version, but it would be nice for that legal loophole to be fixed for the sports version too.

Reducing the wetted surface should increase speed for sure. I've not driven any cats with foils yet so will reserve my judgement until I get the opportunity. The questions I would have for those designs is rough water handling because it's often nice to have more boat in the water than out to allow the hull to slice up waves on some points of sail. So yes it would be interesting to understand this in more detail.

  • @captainbernhardf

Any weather you like you don’t know what 4m seas are

    • @BoatLife_DansBoatLife
      @BoatLife_DansBoatLife  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

So I take the height above waterline measurement of the boat i'm driving, which was 2.93m on this boat. Then i'll take a sightline when i'm in the trough of the swells. On this day I was easily looking up at waves double the height of the boat and Miami was not visable at all. However cameras never put this into perspective so what you're seeing is likely misleading. Also if you're used to sitting high above the waves on larger boats it may also be a different perspective to what you're used to. You could also cross check against the weather report that day as I put my location and date of filming in the video. It was a big and fun day, but we see a lot bigger swells in Australia so I was happy to run the boat and get the shots for you guys. Hope that helped.

This seems like a fantastic boat, however trying to rig up bait or whatever at those seats that fold out you have no toe kick under the seat bases to stand there comfortably like so many other boats. You wouldn't want to stand it at your kitchen counters without toe kick why do so many of the boat manufacturers make us do that around the the gunwales add so-called bait prep areas???!!! Pretty sure everyone watching this channel has an Iphone (from China) and provided the builder specs up a high quality build it seems a lot of boats coming from China are good these days too. Check out HH Catamarans, Pearl Yachts as well as this Aquila. Sydney is filling up with some pretty decent Chinese electric car brands these days too.
