Kekova

Kekova is a mesmerizing region in Antalya, Türkiye, that encompasses the island of Kekova and the nearby coastal villages of Kaleköy and Üçağız. It’s a place steeped in history, with its shores housing the fascinating remains of a sunken city, which are visible through the crystal-clear waters of the Mediterranean.
The sunken city is believed to have been submerged due to an earthquake in the 2nd century BC, and it includes the ruins of Dolichiste, an ancient town that was later rebuilt and flourished during the Byzantine Empire before being abandoned due to Arab incursions. The region was declared a specially protected area, highlighting its ecological and historical importance.
