Western Region Light Rail Transit (WRLRT)

The Western Region Light Rail Transit (WRLRT) project, under the Ministry of Megapolis and Western Development was formed under Western Region Transport Development Project for the implementation of new Rapid Transit System as a long-lasting solution to traffic crisis in the Central Business District (CBD) and suburbs. The Government of Sri Lanka (GoSL) has officially announced to introduce the WRLRT project under Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) basis.
