    The effort Thommo used to put is captured very well in this spell - the delivery stride and follow through. Now looking forward to day 3 - and apro Kaddubhai's 64 runs.

    The Indian batsmen all got in line & negotiated Thommo’s pace very well, one must say. These were guys who, in those days, never had the opportunity to face top pace back home.

      They had just returned from the Carribean where Holding nearly killed the lot of them in the Jamaica test. This must have seemed tame by comparison.

      Thonmo past his fastest by this he had his shoulder injury a year before and he was never the same again and With due respect this aussies team was second string without Lillee,Chappell brothers etc.

      He was still available and quick not the 74/77,but in the Caribbean 78 Richards said he was quick,got selected for the ashes 82/83,and was picked and toured .in82/83.. wickets Ave 18.he is not and line and length, swing and cut, think Michel Johnson..4 over bursts, certainly not England in1985

      @ghabcdef I think you're referring to India's tour of the Caribbean in April of 76.That's when Holding destroyed India,at Sabina Park,in Jamaica.This match is 2 years later.

    The summer after Thomson busted his shoulder. Thommo's runup longer,& he working much harder than before. The sad & unfortunate aside of this commentary is it was the year before Jim Burke took his own life. Terrific upload nevertheless.

    Not a convincing innings by Vishwa. Lot of dropped catches and no support for Thomson from the other end. Notice how his run up was. He used to bowl wide of the crease angling into the batsman. The amount of lift he used to generate off the good length spot was amazing. Indians were lucky that Lillee , Chappel brothers and Marsh were with packers.

      यह श्रृंखला भारत के पक्ष में आ सकती थी, यदि भारतीय कप्तान बिशन सिंह बेदी ने पर्थ टेस्ट मैच में अपनी दूसरी पारी ९ विकेट पर ३३० रन बनाकर घोषित नहीं करती। यह टेस्ट मैच भारत के सर्वाधिक साहसी बल्लेबाज मोहिन्दर अमरनाथ के शानदार प्रदर्शन के लिए विशेष रूप से याद किया जाता है। इस टेस्ट मैच में उन्होंने पहली पारी में भारत की तरफ से सबसे ज्यादा ९० रन और दूसरी पारी में अपने टेस्ट जीवन का पहला शतक नाबाद १०० रन बनाए थे। भारतीय कप्तान की अदूरदर्शितापूर्ण कप्तानी के कारण भारत यह मैच २ विकेट से हार गया था।

    • @kadambisridhar9365
      @kadambisridhar9365 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Judgement A Come Thommo probably lost more than a couple of yards of pace post the injury (which I heard live on radio!). In this footage, he runs in from much further away to compensate & he was bowling his returns from the outfield. But even his runup is so fluid & athletic - perhaps matched only by the Rolls Royce aka Mike Holding!!!

    • @kadambisridhar9365
      @kadambisridhar9365 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Judgement A Come Well, you’re no slouch either!! To reveal a dirty little secret, back then I even tried copying JT’s action after watching these highlights!! Gave up because I could never get that beautifully coordinated delivery stride jump & load up right. Thommo probably got it from his javelin thrower days.
