Functionality-wise and design-wise, runners seem to be the best sneakers to wear.
They are also older than most basketball models, or just as old (late 80s, and 90s through 2000s) and arguably pack more tech. That chick saying basketball models started sneaker culture is out of her mind. Gel Lytes and Air Maxes were a thing before people started fighting over J11s.
retardno002 Think about the Nike Blazers tho. They became popular among both Basketball players and Skaters, I think that’s enough to argue that at least some basketball shoes are at the roots of sneaker culture.

Fung bros. again on track. Glad to see they made a video about runners' shoes in addition to basketball. Would definitely like to see more of these runners videos. I'm both a basketball and runner sneakerhead but more of a runner sneakerhead. My top choices are 1. Adidas Boost 2. Nike Flyknit Lunars 3. Zoot Solana . I've tried others like Saucony, Brooks, New Balance, Sketchers, Reebok, but, I'll only pick my top three choices because of the comfort, lightweightedness, fit, wear, and performance of those shoes.

-saucony, ascis and Brooks all have tons of performance running shoes. saucony wasn't saved by collaborations. they just extended their sportswear line from the success of their performance models
-you guys didn't mention the air Max's, runners which have been present in streetwear every year since 1990
really refreshing that they bring on a guest who is actually knowledgable about the field instead of just being a hot asian chick

Hey Fung Bros, gr8 Vid ! I enjoyed it. Wow, in few minutes you told a good story about how the sneakers' thing evolved so far. Yazzy was great, she explained very clear the sneakers issue, the way they become a street trending and so on, I mean, is not limited to the money, but also what they mean and represent. Personally speaking, I used to be a Nike guy, but I moved to Adidas, because I can choose between the street and workout outfits easily. Nike is mostly referred to the Athletic thing. As for the shoes, I'm now using Adidas Boost and Tubular models, they're gr8, no complaints. Keep showing us videos like this. Zaijian!!! ✌

Fredy P. Nah I own air max 1s and gel asic 3's and I would say there both good. I was able to break in the air maxes a lot more so more comfort. But asics are really comfortable too like clouds when ur walking.

Runners will always be poppin because they're timeless, well the retro runners at least, they're comfortable, functional and look good if you rock them right (super subjective)
Even though there's a lot of hype behind the NMDs, I'm not a huge fan of them. I prefer the ultraboost.

From the perspective of someone outside of the sneaker head community, I saw a rise in the popularity of runners with the nike free run series especially the 5.0, just because they were some of the first running shoes to look sleek, cool, and have a thin sole to give them a barefoot feeling. Also, the Roshe runs introduced a lot of people to runners as they were cheap and very comfortable. The rise in popularity of a fit lifestyle and fitness fashion also made runners a cool shoe to wear casually. This is just my opinion, but id be interested to hear what other people think.
