I have a double widow maker, huge Y popple 60' each trunk, part of it 20 feet in the air hung up on a spruce the other 10 feet in the air with a 15 foot root ball all sping loaded. After watching 20 of these... I think I shall call a pro to ground it for me. I'm not ashamed in saying... I don't want to end up on here under Widow maker makes Widow. Or epic fail, tree cutter edition... I can junk it up just fine. I can sharpen run saws like you do. Lack experience to put buig big ones on the ground. Everyone calling it the widow maker... Thank you... that made me research it more. So thanks for your posts, from them, I can see the tree im dealing with is going to do something sideways and needs someone that knows what they are doing . Safe journeys.
"That's not quite what I had envisioned." If I had a dollar for every time I heard that. I've got two widow makers close to the house. Thanks for the ideas. Pull and a little push. That sand bag was a fantastic idea!
This is an older video of yours, but it just popped up on my feed, I went out and got a X Products Can Cannon specifically to launch lines when i need to pull down trees. I don't think those were widely available when you made this video.
Unless you count firewood! No, the tree was quite rotten in the center, as you can see from being able to take it down without a chainsaw, only a tractor. I heat my home with wood though, so all of it will be used for heating. Thanks for watching!
Just lost a costumer from my Motel, who became a friend of mine. He just recently moved to a house. He was in his back yard cutting trees by himself.. A nice older lady friend of his, who was helping him out & just spending time with him recently, came into my office & said he left his doors unlocked & vehicles hoods up. He was doing a maintenance day apparently about to change the oil on his vehicles. They said he didn't answer his phone & his house was unlocked.. The police did a welfare check & found him in his yard this evening. He was a highly ranked Veteran in the Air Force, & a Humanitarian investigator, & very healthy at 61 years old. I don't know exactly how it happened, she said he had a chainsaw, & the police wouldn't let her see his body. I know he claimed to be an arborist amongst many other things. Really tragic, & sad. I hope it wasn't too harsh for him. Or at least gave him time to get right with the Lord. He had so much more life to live. Really a treasure for humanity. He was an engineer for the government & installed surveillance equipment & speed traps also. He had so much still, to bring to the world. He was always so outspoken about his beliefs.
I think you're missing the point. The whole tree was a widowmaker. I'm sure glad I didn't go at the base of it with a chainsaw. You are welcome to make your own youtube channel and show us all how much worse they can be. For me, I've done tree work for years, and this is the most dangerous I've come across.
Thanks for an informative video. Your narrative tone and style is just right.
"I wasn't expecting that."
Maybe not but you were prepared for it, unlike the fallers in the WorkSafeBC videos.

It's always fun to see what's going on around your house.

Good job on that one FarmCraft!
Wow that looks like a fun time all around!
firewood is very useful, nice job, the entire tree needed down.
Is that branch a widow maker
“This is an old ass tree” 😂
Wish I would have known about those bags, when I had a widow maker I used big washers and nuts to try to get the rope over branch
Well, you did a good job on not getting killed by the widowmaker.

Perfect Job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Were you able to harvest anything useful from this tree,?

Glad it is all the way down, that was rotten to the core!

How much for this tractor $?😉
Ha! Love my tractor!
That's what happens when trees aren't properly safety pruned and maintained and allowed to grow into oversized lethal weapons. 😉
Thanks 4 the laugh, Road Crew comment
Wow, that tree was an accident waiting to happen.
Nice, but I would of pulled it to the side
That wasn't in the script!
That’s an old ash tree
Whole tree had internal decay maybe sick
You REALLY need a grapple.
What was so dangerous about that? lol
Please. That is hardly the "ultimate" widowmaker. I used to be a sawyer for the Forest Service and I've dealt with dozens worse than this.
