    Greetings from Russia! Thank you for your videos! Could you please explain in some video the difference between semba and kizomba? From your point of view. With examples of music and/or dance movements if possible.

      In the meantime, please note the following:
      Kizomba (the music, and later the dance) comes from semba. It developed through a mixture of semba and Antillean music.
      The dances are very similar (to the point that, in Angola, no distinction is made in most cases). However, semba allows for more creativity and more moments where the couple is “open” towards the outside, whereas kizomba is all about keeping that connection between the dances.
      Make sure to not confuse kizomba with urban kiz (many still do, outside of Angola!). Urban Kiz is another dance that comes kizomba but was developed outside of Angola. It’s danced mostly in straight lines (whereas semba and kizomba are mostly danced in a circular motion) and it has a lot more “stops”, the movements aren’t as fluid.
