I still have a pic of me holding a brand new Stetson hat filled with 'real' Silver Dollars from 1959. Great memories of Vegas. Thanks again for sharing.

I used to hang around the Golden Gate, because you could go into it as a kid thru the north side door, and it led to a small food area, Cheap Shrimp cocktails and HUGE Strawberry Milk Shakes. I also used to walk into the casinos, the mob guys always were real nice when they said "Kid you gotta leave", ALWAYS FELT SAFE

Great video, I started going to vegas in 88 when I turned 21, corporate vegas had already taken over, but there was certainly some of this old school feel, but you could tell it was disappearing fast. Wonderful video, thank you so much for sharing it. Wish I could study counting, and go back and play single deck BJ before the casinos new any better.

Judy Garland AND Louie Prima are appearing at the Sahara (different "rooms,") THIS is the Las Vegas I yearn to visit, but that requires a time machine, if one is invented, PLEASE let me know......in the meantime, thanks for posting this amazingly high quality (for 1962) footage, definitely the best I have seen.... for us to enjoy.

Someone had a high end home movie camera. Silver Slipper 24 hour buffet...99 cents. Note how people dressed for the evening. Look at the raggedy bums that visit Las Vegas today. That was the second version of the train station. The third is the Union Plaza Hotel. No passenger trains today. Glad to see that someone took historic movies of old Las Vegas. Thanks.

I remember being carded at the door of The Mint in 1976. I had just turned 21. He was rather rude and I'll never forget his rudeness. I proudly produced a Louisiana driver's license. Someone should have taught him some manners - to his customers.
Funny, because my (now ex-)wife and I first visited Vegas on the drive from the east coast to California for graduate school in 1979. We spent the entire night roaming the strip and playing the slots (and actually coming away winners). We were never carded...which was a good thing because she was only a month or so past turning 20!
What's the deal with $18 plus a 20% gratuity, and on top of that, there's a service fee, a booth fee, a self-service fee, a bar fee, and even a resort fee, all for just a single beer? Are you out of your mind? That's what folks from the past would definitely be exclaiming if they were here today! 😄🍻🤪

I'm guessing it had to be a 16mm. No way you could get that quality from even Super-8 (which hadn't been introduced yet), let along standard 8mm.
