I've been putting off using OCLP for Sonoma on mine. Mostly due to habitual procrastination. Ha! Did you experience any initial technical obstacles installing Sonoma? I love my g3 for retro mac gaming. You got an excellent deal on this one for 50 dollars King. Definitely do some progress videos with whatever updates that end up happening.

For those of you who want to install an NVME to a 27” iMac, the easiest way is to use a dremel tool and cut out an opening right above the ports on the back of the case.
I use a 2010 iMac snd 2014 Macbook Air but have installed Chrome OS Flex. Runs perfectly on the Macbook as it has an SSD but the iMac struggles on a HDD. Regardless of this my Macbook is now working like new again.
If you don't want to use the iMac's internal HDOF, add an external SSD and install Mac OS. I did that on my 2012 iMac, which worked like a champ. I later bought an SSD installation kit from OWC and followed their installation video for the iMac. I am not going to sugarcoat it; it was a pain in the rear end, but after a few hours, I had my small sledgehammer at my side, and I almost used it, so the whole installation was completed. If I had known that the entire installation would be a pain, I would have stayed with the external SSD. BTW, I am pleased with my iMac running Monterrey. If Apple decides to build it, I would only replace it with a new M4 27 or 30-inch iMac.
It's the worst computer I ever worked on. I wasn't sure it would work after taking it apart....it did and it's a great computer. I use it just for surfing the internet and youtube.

I want to use my computer for my website and my small business that I have at home, it would have to hold Shopify website and PayPal. I have a money bun for that prints out. The computer tells it to print out the shipping information. Is this too much for this iMac computer
Months back I scored a 21.5" 2013 "as is/for parts" locally from the original owner for a whopping $50! Turns out the old factory 256gb SSD finally folded when they went to wipe the machine prior to listing it. Would not boot. Yadda yadda. So, I bring it home and use my USB MacOS boot thumb drive aaaand...? Total score specs wise! It had a quad core i7-4770 CPU 8gb ram GTX 750M 1gb, and a failed 256gb SSD. Not to shabby for $50 right?! Anyway, after investing an additional $40 for parts/tools? I endured the intentionally laborious complete tear down process, maxed out the ram to 16gb, replaced the failed SSD with a NOS one, and then added an additional 1tb HDD that I had lying around. Overall? For just $90 and a few hours of DIY labor? I got no complaints TBH. Runs Reaper & Studio One like a champ! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
My late 2013 i7 is still running and is my daily driver. I have an M2 Mac Mini on the way and I'll probably revert the iMac to Mojave to use old 32 bit apps.
i have the same thing. for the life of i cannot get it to connect to the internet. it connects fine to the wifi (and i use ethernet cable too). however i keep on getting the "safari can't establish a secure connection" i have tried everything, fixing date, updating certificate etc. I cannot connect to Apple Store even to the apple site. please help
@KingWilliam i cannot access any website. It complains that it cannot establish server. My wifi works fine. I have fixed the date time thing, added the google DNS. The Imac is connected to the internet but i cannot seem to get pass the "unable to establish server" issue. Its so frustrating. I even reinstalled OS
I am unable to download chrome. when i click on the chrome download link, nothing happens, no file downloads, keeps sending me to previous page . its a loop @@KingWilliam
@@KingWilliam I got it 3 years ago. Paid $100. I did add a couple 8 gig sticks of ram. I bought an ssd during Black Friday. Just need the sticky kit for the screen. I have windows 10 and Linux mint loaded on it as well.
@ Surprisingly, it performs quite well for everyday tasks. It handles TH-cam smoothly and without any issues. I even installed it on an earlier MacBook Pro (Mid-2010), which manages it fairly well. However, the live backgrounds are a bit much for the MacBook Pro-it plays them, but the fans go crazy. On the iMac, everything runs perfectly. The installation process, however, was a bit frustrating. I recommend holding off on logging into your iCloud account until everything is fully set up. Once the system is configured, it runs very smoothly and provides a great user experience.
i just bought one of these yesterday real cheap havent gotten yet but hope its decent 2013 i7 imac paid 150$ like new 16 gig ram 256 ssd . Think it will be good ?

This is my 1st “modern” iMac. It works great for TH-cam and internet. I just upgraded to Sonoma with open legacy patcher so now it gets security updates

Yes! I use mine every day! Upgrades to an SSD a few years ago, still works like a charm!

Try installing chrome and see if that one works. The older safari doesn’t seem to work on many pages

Open core patcher worked great. It updates to Sonoma and the latest security patches installed 2 weeks ago
