I think it's potentially dangerous to tell people that 'the baby will come when it wants to come'... unfortunately a lot of births aren't as simple as that. Safety is the most important thing.
Also, understand he's passionate about this but constantly speaking over Mimi is so so annoying. She's the one that produced a human being. Also seems like he's very against C sections - some mothers do not have the choice. Please bare that in mind.
Chloe A totally agree with you, i don't get the whole c-section thing 🤔 honestly? So much fuss. I don't think my husband would be able to watch me suffer for so long heheh but i am just shocked about the words used in this video. C-section save lives n almost was used to save hers/baby. Such a narrow mind.
I agree with you Chloe. It is odd that Alex was still trying to keep Mimi away from the epidural or c-section. She is the one feeling the pain of contractions (not waves, they ARE contractions) and if she wants to get the baby out that way, then so be it. It is her body and she is very capable of making her own decisions. Unless Mimi was unconscious and unable to make medical decisions for herself, there is no reason for Alex to keeping pushing Mimi into something that she can't do.
I rarely ever comment. But as a doctor, who went to school for 8 years, took 6 different 8-9 hr board exams, additional 3 years of residency. Hearing you compare your "research" to the stress and hard work of those compiled years all the while being very degrading to doctors. The OB/GYN field is not an easy one, it takes passion and heart to do what these medical doctors do. They have the highest malpractice insurance, as much as you say oh you are choosing what you want now, if something goes wrong, the parents never blame themselves, the blame always goes to the doctor. There are risks and benefits to either side (induction and waiting for natural progression). At 42 weeks the risks outweigh the benefits. I am so happy that everything went well you guys and you have a beautiful healthy baby. But I have seen when things go very wrong, it ruins families. I have been in a room where the midwife kept telling the mom it was ok to keep trying for natural birth,2 hours later she was in the OR with not the best outcome. Yes childbirth is a natural process. However, before medical advances the mortality (both maternal and infant) were twice as high as they are now. I wonder how we as a society got here? By first time parents doing "research"? Something to think about before you roll your eyes at the mention of a doctor. Be informed, get involved in your own personal healthcare but don't insinuate that doctors don't know what they are telling you and that they are running a business, to run a business would be an easier undertaking. I can't!
as just a mbbs student...i agree with you completely...as soon as the video started i started having the exact same thoughts ! thank you for putting them here so atleast people get the actual scenario wch plays out !
Thank you!!! I couldn't get passed 15 minutes because i got so angry... People who have nothing to do with medicine shouldn't give advice and do their own "research", it is years and years of hard work trying to save patients from themselves.
I'm an OB nurse and never once in my career have I seen a baby born later than 41 wks.... I couldn't even watch this video beyond 7 minutes. Where in the world are they getting this information from. Biggest pet peeve is when parents think they know more than the trained medical professionals that have years and years of experience. Also I cannot believe you told your midwife to "chill"...WOW.
Morgan Davis As a nurse myself I have to agree with you. I'm certainly glad mama and baby are well but, you know as well as I do if something went severely wrong the medical personnel would be the first to blame. People don't understand that we have to ask the personal questions and give the uncomfortable information they don't want to hear, not just to be mean and make them "nervous" but to document it was done and they understand possible circumstances, also because it's our job and we're committed to doing what's right for both parties involved
Also, if a thing works for you as a person, the experience cannot be translated into a generality. A lot of things could have gone wrong, good thing it didn't, it doesn't mean that for others it will be exactly the same as theirs.
I couldn't keep watching. The risks are not exaggerated! People don't realize how common stillbirths are. As a mother who had a stillborn baby at 38 weeks, I don't appreciate anyone belittling the incredible loss we have experienced. You are so incredibly BLESSED to have a live healthy baby. The reason why the Drs. Have protocols is because of the high risks of stillbirth.
I noticed my comment from a few days ago was not here anymore. I am reposting it, you shared your opinion and I shared mine. After re-reading my comment a few times, i do not feel as if i was disrespectful or rude. Was there some frustration? YES, just like in your video you were frustrated at the healthcare professionals. Let me know what in my comment merits it to be deleted. Re-Post (copy and pasted original comment) I rarely ever comment. But as a doctor, who went to school for 8 years, took 6 different 8-9 hr board exams, additional 3 years of residency. Mary A that's a shame as they both claim transparency & authenticity yet they delete thousands of the comments they don't agree with, I understand some of them got pretty negative but not an excuse, I mentioned in a previous comment that instead of deleting them they should have been responding to each one of them or at least make a special video addressing all the concerns. I am not a subscriber however I watch a video if the title interests me but I noticed the value of their content is not consistent. I don't like judging people HOWEVER respecting his viewers/followers (legitimate) opinion shouldn't be an issue let alone dismissing them as they couldn't care less about what you; as followers think! Everyone is entitled to their own options of course but these are his followers/viewers point of view, forget about the fact that they make money off of you (their followers) watching them supporting them how about your loyalty and decency towards them!?? Humility is so important and so is self awareness. Sad really!
As a nurse, you are the couple every nurse dreads having. The people that believe in any situation they know more than the professionals and in turn jeopardize you and the baby's safety. I feel sorry for the health care professionals who had to deal with your ignorance and "know it all" attitude which made people who dedicate their lives to this field feel bad for looking out for you and your baby's best interest.
Exactly. Who needs doctors anymore? Just use google. It's not like trained medical professionals go through years of schooling and have seen over hundreds of births.
My sentiments exactly. You can imagine the eye rolling and exasperation in the staff room from those dealing with the know it all couple who describe the work and observation of the OB staff as fidgeting and who stand corrected on what is best after having read a few articles. I imagine there will be ongoing expertise on this channel as the novice parents tell us all what is the best way to parent. As an OB professional I found this video disturbing and judging by the huge amount of negative comment, particularly from those with higher understanding, I am not alone. Yes your baby arrived safely in the end, but there are no guarantees of normal child development when neonates are excessively stressed, for whatever reason, in any labour. May I also say, that contraction is a medical term, wave is not!
I was expecting a sweet video then they start with their quotation marks and Alex asking for a "less exaggerated nurse" when talking about the risks. they seemed so arrogant and know it all. I felt so bad for their medical team.
I'm sorry to say that but you are not right in many aspects. I'm a medical doctor and passing week 42 can be dangerous for a baby. So no I don't agree it's all about an insurance. Congratulations on your girl.
Magdalena Janina Laska She had the NST's and ultrasound. She was closely monitored. Seems like her due date was wrong. Didn't sound like much risk there.
Completely agree reality is until you have close friends and family or yourself experienced a stillborn due to being over due it's not something everyone women may understand. Because it happens . I had a baby died after 2mths even since then my anxiety increases so I don't like going near 42wks. You have to experience to understand . By all means comes to 42wks but understand risk exsit With that.
You like to have to list 5 things you are grateful for everyday right? So 1. I am grateful that there are medical doctors 2. I am thankful that you don't to guess and research about your health 3. I am happy for the both of you 4. I am thankful that my mom delivered me into this world even thought 'it's not natural' 5. I am thankful I have a lot doctors in my family to keep me from lashing at you for it would be considered unprofessional
Hi Mimi i usually agree with most that you say, however as a medical student who has done my rotation in obstetrics I really have to disagree with you stance on 'overdue'. Every week that you go over your baby is getting bigger and increasing the risk that they will not be able to get through the birth canal and so ending up you having an emergency section. Much better to be induced than an emergency section . I know you think it is all natural , however until you actually see a delivery come to an emergency you haven't really got a full idea. I dont really like the way your trying to imply it's about money because its not, the doctors have guidelines set for them about 42 weeks. Also the reason why babies dont die in childbirth anymore is because of doctor intervention - especially when going overdue...
Eva Grace - thank you for the comment. Also I have to disagree with mimi when she said everywhere in the world they offer an induction at 39 weeks or pessary - they do not. With my first baby they wouldn't even touch me till I was over 40 weeks before they would consider doing a sweep and they surely wouldn't induce anyone unless they are at least 41 weeks with a good reason - however at 42 weeks you are overdue and you are risking your baby and having a natural delivery.
not only the baby gets big, but the placenta gets old and the risk for the baby gets higher and higher after the 42 weeks. There is A LOT of research that proves this.
Alex told the midwife to CHILL, Alex told the nurse everything is ok when the heartbeat is dropping....? Your research cannot defeat medical professionals' knowledge!!!
Queen of Thorns I wonder if all the risks they were mentioned happened for real .. I am pretty sure they would blame the medical professionals instead of their own decision and beliefs .. :P
M M Of course. If anything went wrong they would be suing the hospital and not take responsibility for their actions. This couple is every doctor's worst nightmare. They think that researching online for a few months compares to years of schooling and even decades of experience treated pregnant women. I'm truly scared that a pregnant woman will watch this video, listen to their bullshit, and will put herself and her baby in danger.
My heart rate dropped at birth and I NEARLY DIED.There were like 50 doctors in the room. WTF, Alex? Hearts beat for a reason. At birth, they beat fast. Or they SHOULD, anyway. Both Alexa and I are lucky to be here, and be healthy too - but that's not to say we weren't, at some point, in danger.
M M Lol. If they have another baby Alex will probably be like, I'll deliver it myself when it wants to come out, you don't even need an epidural because I'll make out with you and save this baby too. 😁
You know, I waited almost a week before coming back to this video and responding. It took me a week to try to properly formulate my thoughts and express why this video upset me so much. Firstly, i would like to say congratulations on Alexa's birth; she's beautiful, and I wish her a lifetime of happiness and health. That being said... I agree that a woman should have a say in the type of healthcare she receives. Mimi, you had an extremely easy pregnancy, which you're extremely lucky about, but I witnessed how much your confidence that the fact that you didn't experience many complications during the pregnancy increased your disregard for the medical system. I remember one of your Q and As, where Alex made a comment about many pregnancy symptoms being socially constructed into being a norm. "Ask yourself, are you REALLY feeling that way?" He asked. I remember thinking about how ridiculous that was. I mean, there are certain stereotypical symptoms associated with a cold too... would you doubt that someone saying they had a runny nose had a cold? Would you say "hey... doctors and medicine want you to believe you have a cold in order for them to make money"? I remember just thinking how ridiculous it was. I agree that medicine, and our education system needs work; but dude it's a continuously evolving thing!! Of course childbirth as depicted in movies might be exaggerated, but that doesn't mean it's entirely fabricated! Women go through this all the time!! The other thing that I find so amazingly stupid was how many red flags you guys had about the potential difficult labour that you ignored... your midwives, who's job it is to assist in natural deliveries, told you MULTIPLE times that you were going a risky route. Doctors told you you were going a risky route. You refused to listen to anyone who disagreed with your birth plan but had your best intentions in mind, and I find that incredible. Incredibly arrogant and incredibly stupid for two self-proclaimed educated and critical thinking people. Yes, I agree that scheduling c-sections instead of going through natural labour may be a bad thing. But when a doctor tells you that you and/or your baby are in critical condition... you've got to friggen listen! You were LUCKY. Your child is here, and healthy, and safe because you were lucky that the team that was there with you during your labour was so educated. The nurses were "fidgeting around" in order to make sure that you, Mimi, and Alexa were okay. I can't believe how arrogant and closed-minded two people who claim to have worldly views about the world can be. Why don't you go to my country of origin, Haiti, and see what it's like to give birth without modern medicine readily available to you. Don't take that for granted... I hope that as Alexa grows up you make decisions that are less based on your self-pride and more based on actual informed and non-cryptic and arrogant decisions.
I agreeeee! I am labor delivery nurse and post dates fetal death no joke. Consider yourself lucky, you have no idea the amount of experience OBs and mifwifes and RNs in womens and children area speak from. Keep your child in.. sure have her swallow the very thick mec the very common occurance lol or rotting cord... aging placenta.. oh and the risk of amniotic emboli to your veryself
As a child who was born via emergency section, I take offense that my "connection" with my Mom isn't as strong because she didn't have a "natural birth."
Same here. It really threw me off. /: And the fact that they kept saying "natural birth" & "C-section" like a C-section isn't natural & some sort of bad thing. They're both ways of birth, birth is natural. They both have their pros & cons. Why are C-Sections & epidurals looked down on so much? And why are women so judgey about them? Like it's somehow "better" to make yourself suffer? Why do pregnant women feel like they have to do this & vaginal birth is some type of thing that makes you better than other pregnant women who get c-sections or have epidurals? I'll never get it. It's so sad.
bceause c sections ARENT natural. Your body doesnt just naturally rip open from the stomach to take the baby out. and epidurals are chemicals that arent natural to help you not feel pain therefor its not a natural birth. You didnt see our ancestors giving birth through these methods before
These two act like they know more then trained medical professionals on when over due actually is and that its not actually that risky. Didn't know they went to med school!
jwayze908 right. I don't know anything medical related but my daughter was a week late and I remember wanting to wait so I could have the whole natural experience from water breaking to dilating without being induced and my doctor was like nope, sorry but that is dangerous for your baby. After the 40th week hit she gave me just a week and scheduled an induction.
Actually, she is right about the risks of an induction being higher than the risks associated when going past your due date. I was a total mess when my doctor told me that they wouldn't even consider an induction until I went past 42 weeks. People & the internet kept saying how dangerous it was. But when I actually looked up the studies (I wanted to show my doctor how dangerous it really was -HAHA), I could only find studies that showed how much healthier it was for both mother & baby when babies (who've received proper natale care and are in good health) come at their own pace. Keep in mind that medical schools in different countries teach things differently and America (where they are most likely to pressure you into having an unnecessary induction) has a ridiculously high rate of infant death compared to other countries. I wish I'd seen this video before giving birth. Definitely listen to your doctor, but also do your own research and let him/her know about any concerns you might have.
jwayze908 I'm a third year med student and I haven't watched the video yet but I'm not really surprised by what you say. I think there's a general trend to go back to "natural", (which is not bad at all) and lot of influent youtubers or instagramers are promoting that. But the danger is that people collect informations on the internet and suddenly think of themselves as pros ... That can get really dangerous ❗ (sorry for my English)
I'm a third year medical student as well, and that's the problem, people should do their research but they should also ear the doctors and they can't and won't make a decision for you, they make decisions with you, an informed decision. Din't like the fact that Mimi encourages people to go against medical advice, because every person is different and it worked out for her but for others may not work so great... Besides that, I'm happy it worked out well and that you're all healthy and happy.
My last pregnancy was an emergency c-section due to heart rate dropping I was 40 weeks pregnant Heart rate dropped, my son pooped inside and swallowed everything that wasn't supposed to be swallowed Also the cord was wrapped around his neck if I wouldn't have went for the csection he would have died My son was in the nicu for 2 weeks with an infection! Please don't google!!! Let the doctors do their job!!!!
Cecilia Covarrubias Yes, exactly as a NICU nurse I agree that is one of the biggest risks, meconium aspiration can be fatal. It is not just an exaggeration as he says. But what do I know right? I'm just a nurse "fidgeting" and Alex knows better from google research 🙄 It's seriously so dangerous for them to be acting like doctors and nurses don't know what they are talking about when we just have our patients best interests at heart especially when it comes to babies! Hope your son is well now!
Ciliawillia C I had a c section as well coz my sons heart rate dropped n it became an emergency, rushed to theatre, right after everything was sorted I had my skin to skin, bonded with my baby, love my baby n yes it took a while to heal but I wouldn't change it for anything
I am so happy for them both and happy that baby Alexa is doing fine! I've been watching Alex & Mimi for a looooong time now, but what really upset me about the video was the fact that they acted so surprised that public healthcare was surprisingly better than private healthcare (this gave me a tiny idea of how they both view things, in life) Like they always want to be above everyone else... a bit arrogant. Maybe?
They both came from "humble" backgrounds. However, saying Alexa chose to be born at an NHS hospital is over the top. Honestly, don't ever use the NHS again if it's so beneath them.
I was born via C-section and have an incredible and beautiful bond with my Mother. Not to mention, healthy as can be! You and Alex need to get off your high pedestal. I'm thankful for the Doctors and nurses that did what was best for my mother and me at the time.
exactly. I'm pregnancy and I find this very annoying and misleading. I love mimiikon but I have to disagree with her this time around. this is wrong on so many levels. who wants to be pregnant beyond 42 weeks by the way? definitely not me. people always take your doctor's advice and don't be a know it all like these 2.
Kaela Bryant you both are exactly the people they are talking about. Fitting into AVERAGES is just that! Understand please that life is messy, life is different. They also gave many warnings. Hush!
Yeah I agree, I don't think they are giving advice. They are just sharing their experience and the process that worked for THEM. Of course everyone's journey is different but this never came off as "advice"..
Kaela Bryant I don't take it that they're giving medical advice, but I do agree that they are making it aware that they would more likely do what they want regardless of what a dr says is best. Just like Mimi said, natural birth IS painful and in the end, she was asking for the drugs. Typical for those that "plan" a natural birth. This is the epitome of why a birth plan should not exist. The plan ultimately is to just get the baby out safely.
This is not a judgement comment, but merely an educational one. I'm a postpartum registered nurse, and through studies and my nursing courses along with valid research on and several nursing journals beyond 40 weeks that the baby is in the womb progesterone (the hormone that sustains a pregnancy) begins to decline which declines the function of the placenta which is the only way of oxygen, and nutrition to the baby. Post 40 weeks the placenta's functions starts to decrease; therefore, the baby can lack many things the placenta gives to the baby, the one of most importance is oxygen and blood which can have detrimental effects to the baby. Working with doctors and other medical professionals with laboring and postpartum patients, there will never be a time that a medical professional will steer parents to a direction that will harm the baby or the mother. We are there to keep both mom and baby safe. Had I been the nurse that a dad told me to chill and let her sleep while I saw the baby's heart rate decline, which is called a late deceleration at the mid-late part of a contraction, I would've disregarded his comment and immediately went to her to check her and the baby, because that is a MEDICAL EMERGENCY. late Decels are an immediate threat to the baby it means that there is placental insufficiency which is a fancy way of saying there is lack of oxygen getting to the baby. That is in most cases why women will get an emergency c-section. I'm not any way judging these two, but like most comments, medical professionals, like myself go through years of training and research, and specialize with testing and licensing exams to help prevent error and save lives, and in most cases should not be questioned in an emergency situation, which seems to be what this case was.
Yes!!! finally some facts and education. I am scared to know how they feel about vaccination, she had mentioned in one of her videos how vaccinations can cause anxiety and depression. They also don't believe in car safety. They carried they baby in a swaddle sling in a moving vehicle. Poor baby.
sugarfix204 I'm a also a postpartum nurse and although I'm very pro natural I know when medical intervention is in my best interest. With that being said vaccines are a whole different ball game. If only you know the dangers of vaccinations and all what is being hidden from the public. I refuse to vaccinate my child and I'm so sorry for all those who follow "medical advise" without doing their own research first and actually making an informed decision. Most doctors don't even know much about vaccines. It's honestly a big joke what they learn in school vs what vaccines actually entail. My husband is in med school and they don't cover much at all with regards to this. Everyone wants what's best for their child so please don't bash others who feeling a certain way about certain things. Education is what made me not want to vaccinate, not the other way around.
Hey Mimi! congratulations on your beautiful girl, she is adorable! I am so happy for you, I just wish that you guys would be a little bit more careful with the way you express your ideas because you do influence many people, specially young couples. Even though you had everything monitored and thankfully everything went well with Alexa's birth, the risks increase drastically after 42 weeks and the doctor's advice should not be ignored. A young woman was convinced that everything had to be natural and refused to induce labor, I met her because in Dental school I did an internship with disabled children... Due to the lack of oxygen during birth the child had permanent brain damage. She was a beautiful girl, that will never experience the world as she should. Why give the chance? It is better to just find a good doctor and trust her/his knowledge.
Gio Portela well said. I was just thinking the same. Bad choice of words, misconceptions, judgemental ideas etc. They were so so so so lucky that Alexa was unharmed 🙏🏻
I totally agree with you Gio!!! They need to be super careful with how they give advice. At the end of the day these guys aren't medical professionals but still have a great influence on their viewers!! No one should take what they say seriously.
I'm just annoyed at the lack of humility, specially Alex, saying he basically took charge, that he thought of delivering himself... Mimi was in excruciating pain, the baby wasn't in the right position and bad things could have happened without the staff. Those bad things are also a part of nature, a very common one before modern medicine. So please don't act like you knew better and that nature's way is the best way because nature also kills. Please accept that you were LUCKY to have been able to (kinda) stick to your birth plan. Be humble. You don't always know best. And I really hope you meant "we" when you repeatedly said "I don't want a c-section".
Preach Girl!!! I totally agree with you. Anyway what is so bad about c-sections if it means that you will deliver your baby safely without causing stress to the baby or damage to the mother.
I would like to add a) you don't know what it's like in a hospital, studies do not show everyday life and b) I really hope you search and read said studies impartially, instead of just looking for the one that suits your beliefs and sticking with it.
You need to address these comments. As another person commented "these are not negative comments from negative people". This is not something you can shy away from. Address it like adults. Deleting comments is dismissive and fake.
Yes, which means in her world: leave a comment but don't criticize me. If you do, I will delete it. There were so many comments which criticized what they were saying but were written in a very respectful way. Most of them were deleted. This is such an disrespectful behavior towards their followers. It's sad to realize that these videos are not about inspiring other people, it's only about making money!!!
And the sad part is, Alex claims throughout the video that it's the medical professionals that are in it for the financial gain. You know who stands to gain zero funds, and lose their medical licence? (which they spent half a million dollars in tuition + student loans working for, and spent over a decade in school for) - Doctors like myself, if we don't take the actions necessary to save the life of the mother and baby. I would never recommend a c-section to my patients, if that is not what they wished for. However, if your baby enters a risk zone where the benefits of performing the surgery, outweigh the risk of newborn mortality. You WILL get a c-section. It is not my choice, and it is not yours - it's what is in best interest of the BABY and MOTHER who are my ONLY priorities.
Noor G yes I totally agree with you! The only people having any financial gain is Mimi and Alex who are not only monetizing on their baby's birth but also on spreading misinformation in their quest to "stand out" all so they can gain views. What a world we live in now where young impressionable people strive to be more like a TH-cam personality than like actual heroes in noble professions who save lives everyday. Newsflash, just because Mimi's birth turned out ok despite them taking these risks the majority of them don't, and if they do it's because of medical professionals. And just because these two have financial success on TH-cam doesn't mean everyone will, that is why education is so important another thing Mimi and Alex don't believe in. Frankly they are just very lucky, ignorance is bliss until the consequences hit.
I love how Alex is like "I don't want a C-section" but yet she was the one who was having the baby she said multiple times she wanted it because she was in extreme pain.
Rewatching the video and reading the comments after four years, I think that if she's fine with then maybe it's just about the relationship they have. If I were her, I would be, well, mad. I also do not agree with some of their claims but maybe it works for them?
Oh, and I'm not talking about her wanting the c-section because of how much pain she was in but rather the general 'WE have birth' instead of 'I/she gave birth' vibe
Congratulations on your baby. Speaking as a medical professional (and a mother) I was saddened to see so much mis-information (and statements bordering on mockery of the medical profession) in this video. Every pregnancy is different and there is nothing wrong with natural. However, that being said every pregnancy comes with its own set of risks for complications (and these are usually watched for very carefully in first time pregnancies). There is a lot of research that goes into the practice of medicine with guidelines being updated constantly to support ongoing patient care. A better researched and better worded video is what I would have liked to see, especially as you have such a large platform (and possibly young impressionable viewers), and giving out misleading information could potentially be dangerous and harmful depending on the circumstances. Peace x
Colleague here - whole heartedly agree. Although I have to say, this is not the first time they put up content that is poorly researched and far from eloquent (e.g. Mimi's gender equality video, where she was so uninformed on the subject she actually googled whether gender inequality exists...). My issue with Mimi and Alex is that they never honour their viewers by responding to our comments on their more controversial videos. I'm pretty sure that despite the upheaval here in the comment section regarding their mockery of the medical profession, they are NEVER going to address it head-on. Shame.
Yeah, I think they need to address this or take this video down! But as you said they never will . They just think they are so beyond everyone and do not feel the need to address so many comments basically saying the same thing that they are totally misinformed. I haven't seen one comment about anyone liking this video. They need to take the video down.
The funniest part was when Alex went to the nurses and said I know the heart rate is dropping but everything is okay. Oh really? how do you know that? 😆 and secondly, u didn't want c - section to have a special bonding with the baby. But Mimi couldn't feel anything while pushing and Alexa probably just wanted to get the hell out. Sorry but these hipster beliefs are hilarious.
I try to respect everyones beliefs but the fact Alex (?) "planned" the birth from 9am-12pm caused me to guffaw uncontrollably for a few mins. Another idea that was pure comic relief was they're having a painless birth. Painless birth is a rarity. In comparison a birthmother's probabilities of having birthing difficulties are higher. Yet the trust they had in nature making it painless & easy was beyond logic to me. "Nature" & simply allowing the body to do what it does is the reason for higher birth & mother mortality rates in countries like India or even our own privileged 1st world counties history. Something I do agree with is the emphasis on due date. Different countries have different ideas on the birthing time-table so some wiggle room does exists. In some cases the rigidity of the "due date" is an unwarranted pressure. However, only the medical professionals can make that decision on a case by case basis. While watching this video Alex in particular came across as extremely arrogant. No amount of reading material can compare to the knowledge gained by formal studies. Even a first year medical student is more knowledgable than a well informed first time parent. To pretend to know best is a disservice to yourself, your s/o, & newborn.
I've never been pregnant yet, and please someone explain to me how exactly does pushing a baby out of your tiny hole and being in a ton of pain bonds you with your baby? Weren't the previous 9 months enough to bond? Do mothers who had a c-section reject their children because they never bonded? Is dying in pain is really a better thing to do as a mother than agree to a peaceful caesarian?
lavenza I do think there is something special about birthing your baby however in case of an emergency I think we are so lucky to have the option of c section.
You guys seem to live in your own little world, which seems to work out fine for you guys but its terrifying to know how much of an influence you have on social media. It's great to see medical professionals participating in educated and productive conversations in the comment section regarding the reality of labour and delivery. Hopefully these comments will be left in the comment section so that others can read them as well. Best of luck to you guys.
Agreed. Doctors say 'medical' things, they're doctors. They are as 'precise' as possible in the advent of tech and are not commoditizing babies by suggesting past due is over due, rather they're protecting themselves from ppl who sue for things like 'nature' happining and saving lives -- 1,000 yrs ago, we had babies 'naturally' but we also lost lots of them naturally before medicine, which these two utilized.
Love both Mimi and Alex but this video is really irresponsible and the misinformation being shared here is upsetting. The doctor refusing to see you as a patient after 42 weeks has nothing to do with "making money like a business." If it was about money, they would've continued seeing you anyway so they could be paid. They refused to see you because THEIR insurance will not cover *them* in the ever-increasing likelihood something goes wrong because it is so risky past week 42. This is thoroughly backed by years of medical research, this isn't a marketing ploy to extract more money. This video can lead impressionable mothers to disregard the advice of their doctors in favor of some romanticized idea of what it means to deliver a child "naturally," and that's dangerous.
Exactly. Their advice is based on feeling, emotions, and thought. But the fact of the matter is, while these things can be very valuable in many aspects of life, science far outweighs these thing --especially when it comes to medicine. Please, expectant mothers, listen to your trained medical professionals over your TH-cam idols and Dulas. Not that Dulas aren't awesome -- but they aren't as educated scientifically as medial doctors.
Rolled my eyes the ENTIRE time... but what took the cake for me is when Alex (who may truly believe that he pushed this child out of his mangina) said that he knew the key to giving birth is relaxation....WHAT!?!?!? Least relaxing thing that could happen to anyone ever!!! There's at least 100 other descriptive words I could've gotten behind....power, love, strength, perseverance, devotion.....RELAXATION??? These two are wackos.
AutumnLeaves Fall Really? for some reason they kept "hateful" comments (the emotional but honest ones annoyed and outraged by the arrogance and ignorance in the video) to justify "that it is all negative energy thrown at them" but deleted the informed, constructive ones coming from the medical professionals.
Sometimes really "open minded" people get so severely fixed in "open minded" concepts that they become totally closed to everything else. They are sometimes the most closed minded people, ironically
Ella Finstad HARSH! they have THEIR views, theyve chosen to share it for the many thousands who CHOOSE to watch....dont see parents who force feed junk food to their kids getting this abuse!!
Also, stop scamming people and deleting negative comments on your book review on Amazon!!! Keep doing it because people are going to report you for scam and being frauds. Amazon have been notified about this
erdal0 they keep deleting negative comments of their book on Amazon, they do this on a daily basis and make up positive comments by making different accounts and getting people who havent read the book to leave positive comments
erdal0 They told people if they gave it a five star review they'd be entered for a chance to meet them. Lmao. Incentivized reviews, which is something Amazon has recently banned. They should be getting some kind of repercussions from this, hopefully impacting they're precious money since that's all they care about.
Omg Mimi and her waves, they name are contractions because your muscle contract and there isnt anything wrong with this word, they actualy describe whats going on with your body.
A lot of labor is a mental game, so every individuals perception of the word determines whether it is helpful or "wrong", so yes, to some women including myself "waves" is more encouraging and you have a visual of something peaceful and powerful to associate with.
Kristina Klobučar Sigurnjak Having had 3 unmedicated births myself, you do not want anything attached to the experience with a negative connotation and that includes the word contraction!
"labour" has also negative connotation ;) so let's go further with this new-age circus: instead of calling it "contraction" let's name it a moonbeam :)
After watching this video and reading the comments I'm really glad to see that I was not the only one worried about some of the things being said. Mimi I am a sub on your luxy channel, and I know you only mean the best. But until you have been through the pain of having a stillborn child like I have, please don't sit there and say that is an acceptable risk for women to take. This is your point of view, and you were happy to risk it. But I thank God every day that I have 3 of my 4 children here and alive and well because of modern medicine and its intervention. Xx
EDIT: Guys.. go watch Alex' video " Overcoming disability ". The whole 'relaxation' thing might be annoying but it's coming from someone who overcame a disability and from what he said in the video it looks like a lot of it was possible because of his will to heal. I feel bad for judging him... everyone has a story that explains why they are how they are and why they think like they think. He has experienced himself the power of the mind and he applies it to different areas of his life like when Mimi was in labour. Anyways, sorry for my judgement Alex.
Oh yes, the one where he preaches to physically disabled people that they can overcome disability with a positive mindset and pysiotherapy!!!!!!Infuriating
hahahahaha... these two are living day miracles... so humble of them to share their greatness here on youtube. These crooks need to stfu and stop creating bullshit products and books.
True... Offensive to the people like me who study their asses off every single day... And to the nurses and doctors who were trying their best to ensure the baby was safe. Anyways, thanks God Alexa is a beautiful healthy baby. :)
They think their google research holds more value and accuracy over medical opinion giving to them by people who studied and worked for years in the medical field.
For a couple who love to live a positive life, this video has left me feeling less than that. Thanks Alex and Mimi for making me feel upset, nervous and inadequate about the fact that I have to have a c section (for medical reasons). I cannot believe how irresponsible you guys have been!
hahahahahaha....... I m sorry but only commoners like you have pain in Labour but not precious Mimi Ikonn... she is above all this mere mortal afflictions :P
I'm normally a person who would never intervene and criticise others, but, as I was watching the video, I couldn't help but notice that everything your chose before and during labour was to make you comfortable and relaxed and not your baby. You didn't want to get an epidural or a c-section because you read negative things about them... well, there are definitely no negative consequences for the baby with an epidural or a c-section! on the contrary, they can prove to be healthy choices for you and your baby. I felt like everything you two cared for throughout the whole thing was keeping Mimi calm and pampered and relaxed, which is shocking because Mimi is a grown-up, healthy woman who can handle anything while your baby should have been your number 1 prority.
Normal labour is said to be between 38-42 weeks. After 42weeks baby can go into distress but it can be monitored. There are more chances of baby passing meconium (stools) after 42weeks. These are not society standards but proven statistics.
Instead of deleting our comments, delete your video.. I am so blessed to have the parents I have. They are educated and own their own businesses too but are so protective of me and would never put my life even CLOSE to danger. I felt uncomfortable watching your video. Mimi, Alex i understand you want to lead a life where you want to stand out (referring to alex' Instagram), but please don't end up like those parents who went to jail for IGNORING the Doctor's advice of giving their sick child antibiotics, and instead giving them "natural" meds. Now that you are parents, sometimes you have to let go of your beliefs and listen to experts. Do what is better for your child ALWAYS. Kids first, new parents. Watching this video was disturbing, your "vision" of life seems like it's becoming unhealthy..take a step back :) You want to live a humble life yet have hurt thousands of your subscribers and won't even reply to their comments.. ego. these are the people who have helped you grow. Unless you want to take the ladder down... Oh well hope it's not the case as and you guys have at least acknowledged your mistakes yourselves :)
One thing I noticed about alex and mimi is that they try to portray a "perfect life" from their Instagrams to their TH-cam vlogs. After watching this i just realized how annoying that could be for viewers, because they aren't really seeing the down side in your relationship. Some viewers will wish they had a "perfect" life like yours, so in the end by not being real, its just irritating
Mimi says all of the time she is not perfect. Stop analyzing every detail. The important thing is they are both supportive of each other and if you don't like them don't watch, it's as simple as that.
The Jaspers I don't think you read what I wrote 😂 i never said they were perfect nor am I analyzing them, anyways everyone is entitled to their own opinion, if you don't like the comments , don't read them :)
The Jaspers yeah, cause that's what everyone who's trying to seem perfect says. I noticed that ages ago, normal people actually show you their imperfections and maybe laugh at them, they don't just tell you "oh, I'm so flawed" under a perfectly shot instagram photo. Alex and Mimi are obviously trying too hard to seem as perfect as possible.
I too think this. They always portray themselves as lived up and she always shows in there vlogs that they are so I love. When they must have down sides too. Plus you can't judge from a few photos and a weekly video what they are really going through
lmao the part where he's like i'm stalling with the nurse! i asked her to recheck the dilation! i made out with her and saved our baby!!! i was screaming my head off
And did you notice how he often ignored her when she made jokes or commented on her own experience? I guess you can't buy good communication skills at ikea
Janie Fawn he kept talking like he knew the experience better than her? she was like JUST GET THE BABY OUT OF ME and he was like... birthing is all about relaxation
I had to have an emergency c-section because of my baby's heart rate dropping. I had no trouble bonding with my little girl and although the recovery was tough, I am glad that the doctors did what they had to do to save my baby's life. You both have a holier-than-thou attitude that frankly makes you look arrogant and ignorant. Please "do your research" before you spread information that can put people's lives at risk.
I just finished watching the video and I cannot believe that Alex told the nurses to calm down and everything was okay when the heart frecuency of the baby drop down. That's the main indicative that your baby is suffering of lack of oxygen. You are truly a very irresponsable person.
Well, i really dont think they care as much about the baby as much as the idea of having a baby and insta erfect family.... Pretty delusional about life and especially life after kids... These two are in for a special surprise ...
Goddam those fidgeting midwives who worry about abnormal fetal heart rates! So many awkward moments listening to this video. They didn't know what the onset of labour was, nether latent or active. Even with Alex's app! Did you all know that the onset of labour is when you can't walk or talk through contractions? Regardless of a woman's pain threshold. It has nothing to do with effacement or dilatation of a cervix. So much for their research. Alex a maternity ward is a work place not a hotel where you can leave a do not disturb sign. I had to laugh when he said Oxytocin got the baby in there. Really? I've been mislead all my life.
More important than their child well - being was the fucking relax! Maybe I'm a cruel person, but I have a feeling that they had the baby just for the Instagram likes. When you care for someone you don't put his/her life at risk :/
I sat through this entire 55 minute video ( did it have to be that long?) I've seen quite a few birth videos and they always leave me happy but this didn't. It just feels like you're trying to brainwash us with your hippy natural approach. But to be honest I cannot believe you risked both your baby and Mimis lives just to try and get what you wanted. I actually wish you would re film this and leave out the your ignorance and we know more than trained professionals attitude. If my hubby saw mine and my babies blood pressure drop dramatically I am dare sure her be calling for urgent help not telling nurses to chill and giving me lots of kisses. I am really disappointed with your attitude. yes child birth is a beautiful thing but it can be dangerous and not always have happy endings. I can see lots of comments making the same remarks and I hope you take note for your future child/children. And finally I hope no one here manages to get brainwashed by your 'words of wisdom'.
I'm also wondering how he was even able to see his wife basically pass out from exhaustion and pain and still care only about seeing his baby come from a vagina and not from a cut in the skin.
+Mozzarellab3lla very easy to have a strong opinion when you're not the one in labour. My obstetrician told me about a couple he took care of and they decided they didn't want to have an epidural. The big day came and the mother was so desperate for an epidural, but because they made a decision beforehand, the husband refused to let her have one. My ob basically says, the only birth plan you need is to get to the hospital in time to push. Everything else is unpredictable.
I have to post it again, because a girl had posted this comment and got over 1000 likes but the comment was obviously deleted : "Everytime he says "I didn't want a c-section" I wanted to push him trough the screen. " This one was my favorite. Please if you recognize this comment write it again ! Much love 😹😻
Student nurse here... if they only knew how bad it could get after 42+ weeks. It's no exaggeration, the baby can begin to pass meconium (poop) in the womb and it could turn into a snow-ball effect.
Sierra Jameson I don't think so, that's very, very common. Meconium is one of the dangers, but also, after 42 weeks the placenta slowly starts to deteriorate, and the baby slowly begins to receive less and less oxygen and nutrients. I'm all for giving birth in birth centers instead of hospitals (like Mimi and Alex planned to do), and I'm pro home births given the right circumstances (and provided the mother has a nurse-midwife by her side, who can detect signs of something not being right long before it becomes an emergency), but doctors exist for a reason, ignoring their advice and dismissing their worries seems very arrogant and stubborn. When your pride comes before the wellbeing of your child, maybe you should rethink your priorities...
It's interesting to see how different this vlog is from Leyla's -- which was all about the experience from a very personal perspective, rather than giving opinions on childbirth as a whole.
The nurses were probably under stress because they were dealing with two morons making out with each other and expecting some sort of spa atmosphere during such difficult circumstances. I understand wanting to avoid a C-section, but there is nothing wrong with that having to happen if the baby's health is in question. Bonding comes from love and support everyday with your child. Not what happens on a day your child will never remember. Get your priorities in order. And I'm sorry, but premature babies are born everyday BEFORE they are ready. Unpredictable things happen. That doesn't mean that the baby was destined to be born that day. Thank God for doctors and modern medicine that save these babies born before "they were ready."
Comments from doctors, nurses, midwives, other health professionals are gone... Alex and Mimi own up to your mistake, ignorance, and stupidity instead of deleting those comments!!! I have no respect for you guys.
I understand your point but to each his own. The reason why "pressure" is put on you to induce is that the placenta ages as time goes on. My friend who was a nurse had a still birth at 41 weeks. I knew she wanted to be induced and the doctor being more conservative, seeing the baby is healthy refused. An ultrasound can be normal today and abnormal tomorrow. A lot of midwife patients prefer to wait up to 42 weeks, but as I say to each his own. Because my friend lost hers , as soon as I reached 5 days over I asked for induction and got it. Had a healthy baby girl, now 19 and still great. We all have a choice.
heyjoey009 I have a friend who lost her baby for the same reason, she was being monitored but still, things can go bad fast at that stage. But they deleted my comment. they don't care to hear it because they're lucky their baby is fine. And take all advice as negativity in their perfect life. They make me sick, definitely unsubscribed.
As someone who is pregnant myself, I don`t want to go over 42 weeks. There are a lot of complications that can occur from this. I don`t think what you`re putting out there is correct or right. Child birthing is a life or death situation for mother and baby. Yes, you can google statistics all you want. But google does not trump a licensed, educated, and practicing doctor. What you did was very risky. Congrats on your baby & glad you didn`t have the complications that could have come from what you`re pushing out there.
modernmisfit1 Oh well, do your proper research first and you will be quite surprised what specialists really say about inducing babies and the side effects of doing so. Same risk on both sides and you are in no position to judge as every pregnancy is different. Complications sometimes happen although best efforts and I think it's quite disgusting that a woman like you with no real knowledge about Mimis pregnancy and clearly not enough knowledge in the subject is so easy to judge and suggest they put their baby health/life at risk.
I'm 37 weeks gone and I'm tired and ready to see my baby. why would I want to stay pregnant past 42 weeks? smdh. I wonder when and where they got their "medical degree" from.
MartikaScotland Who is judging? I just said its not wise to push this type of information out as if you're a licensed doctor. There are people so hell bent on a "natural hypnobirth" that they will ignore medical advice from their doctors. And that is never something to take lightly. There are natural ways to induce labor rather than sitting there way past your due date putting yourself and baby at risk. There is a reason why you get a due date and why you shouldn`t go so far past it.
nancy A EXACTLY, i wonder if they researched that baby starts having actual bowl movements after a certain amount of weeks that can cause infection for both mommy and baby, or that the placenta can stop functioning. They had a lucky case with this pregnancy. But some people will see this and turn to google rather than their actual doctor.
It's so sad that Mimi didn't want to wake up Alex when she went into labour (for which he is apparently thankful for) when she obviously didn't want to be alone and needed someone to talk to since she woke up her mum. And this obsession with positivity, she won't even call the horrible contractions what they are, is pathological delusion and is only a matter of time before that bubble bursts and reality comes crashing down.
Agatha Klimczak To be honest you both are completely off topic. As long as people were talking about Mimi's and Alex's arrogance towards Medical doctors..it all made sense, but you both had to come and dumb down the whole conversation. Mimi and Aex have a beautiful relationship..the key is 'care' which sounds very difficult for you 2. Please be intellectual beings and talk something that makes sense.
L zahid Both comments are by me, I extended my sentiment after continuing watching. I don't doubt that they love each other and have a wonderful relationship, but nobody is perfect. To me it was disgusting how much Alex was talking himself up, how he SEVERAL TIMES complained how little sleep he had and how exhausted he was, when Mimi didn't sleep at all and was in pain the whole time. He sounded so proud of everything that he did, as if he was doing Mimi a favour. You didn't feel sad when Mimi said she didn't want to wake him up and he thanked her for it? She was trying to make him more comfortable at her own expense at such a critical moment and he was "appreciative" of it. That's fucked up. And that idea that everything always needs to be positive is also messed up. Some things suck, sometimes people are sad, or angry, and it's healthy to acknowledge these things and accept them. They are completely deluding themselves, to the point that Mimi was actually surprised that the labour was painful experience and had to "admit it" to people, as if feeling a negative emotion is somehow being a failure. This whole video just gave me creepy cult vibes, I didn't know they were this far out.
would she have been less of a woman if she had a csection ..? I have had 2 kids 1st one was a csection because he was stressed and heart rate was droping.. no I didnt want an epidural but after 3 days with intense "waves" I couldnt take it just for 6 hours later be told I need a c section 2nd baby was a vaginal deliver with an epidural and my husband was there the whole time and I know it broke his heart to see me suffer he told me if a c section is needed lets go with that no one wants the pain that comes with a section but it saves lives for Alex to say dont do it , what if you dont have a choice
Yoselin Ruano Exactly. If a C-section is needed then you shouldn't even question the doctor's advice! I mean, what's more important: your ideologies OR SAVING THE LIFE OF YOUR DAUGHTER!? Ugh I just can't believe these 2 were playing with Alexa's life...
BelindasChannel my children were 3 years and 10 months apart I guess it depends on your doctor and where in the world you live , my parents are from central america and my mom told me all my kids were going to have be through c sectiom I was scared but when I saw my doctor I told him I wanted to try for vaginal , he said okay and if for some reason I were to need a 2md c sectiom then any other children I had would have to be thru c section
Eclipse , yes my family is from Central America with mayan background yes women were made to have babies and many have done it without medicine but how many of these women have died or given birth to a still born child doctors know what they are doing
This is my first time watching this couple, It's quite strange that my first video of them this monstrosity. 1. they are so pretentious, it is fine to be in pain, and it's called a contraction for a reason. 2. Alex (the guy) he is so controlling, you would swear he was sharing the pain with her, how is he giving advice about birthing. 3. This lady asked for a c-section three times, and this guy kept denying her, she was the one in pain, this whole dictating of how the baby is born should be decided by the person physically pushing out the baby out of her vagina. 4. That was such negligence on their part, the baby could have died. 5. that's very ignorant to think that you need to physically push out your baby in order to bond with your child...(Adoption?)
Frankly, I'm just amazed by how confident you are in your ignorance. When the doctor told you she was not insured up to 42 weeks, you should have had your warning bells going off! That's the indication that the risk of pregnancy at 42 weeks is extremely high! It's too risky to insure because these companies don't want to pay for malpractice suits. You lot are really irresponsible. All this pseudo-scientific crap just pisses me off. Your attitude towards the healthcare practitioners was very condescending. How dare you? What degree and experience do you have that makes you think you can act like that? Thank goodness that it all turned out great for you! As far as I'm concerned, this is child endangerment!
I agree with this comment. Many things that Mimi and Alex talk about I do agree with. However, Insurance has to be there because it's the doctor's responsibility. Imagine a world without it? Just because the doctor doesn't have insurance over 42+ weeks and they were told to find another doctor isn't the doctor's fault. That's what the insurance covers, risks. The doc cannot immediately snap their fingers and change their insurance just for Mimi's baby. Some doctor's don't want to be involved in high risk deliveries. Although society says 'this' and 'that' here has to be rules laid out for responsibility of risks in situations like this. These doctor's know statistics that probably aren't on the internet for the public because the doctors/nurses themselves see what happens and deliver babies daily. Pretty sure that's what years and years of schooling is for. Thank goodness their baby came when it did and not any later, everything is fine. She is a beautiful girl!
Bolanle Adisa but he said that the doctor told them that her"the doctor's" insurance wont allow her to take mimi as a patient after 42 weeks ,, the doctor didn't even talk to them about their insurance, thats why they were surprised,, as they said before they have insurance , if they don't believe in benefits of insurance they wouldn't have one,, so the issue was about the doctor's attitude
These two may be good at what they do but they are uneducated and certainly a degree in google does not count. They're so condescending towards medical professionals. I fear for Alexa.
When Alex started to talk about the epidural I lost it.. I never ever heard that someone complained about the nurse being in the room and making sure everything is working, or safe, and it bothered them..what?.. it's not a spa, it's a hospital with experts. They have a very naive and sad point of view about health care in general:/
Sorry as a doctor I just want to say that if I had a patient that SO willfully disregarded my advice that stems from 9 plus years of education I would be so frustrated. Please listen to us, doctors/nurses/midwives. We are experts in this field, we don't just research it for a couple months on the internet. We are intensely and thoroughly tested, and have many experiences in the field to draw our opinions and work from . People like Mimi and Alex are so stubborn in their beliefs to the point of it being dangerous. In the end you switched to public, you were put in a hospital bed rather than a tub, and you had the epidural. And came close to a c section. Everything you did not want. This could have been avoided if you were just induced when your midwives suggested. You made the experience much more difficult than it needed to be, and now you are promoting that kind of behaviour. Please listen to your Heath care professionals folks. This situation thankfully turned out okay but the reason that the number of stillbirths and death of mothers during pregnancy has gone down in the last couple of decades is because of the scientific innovations and new methods that have developed allowing this to happen. Listen to what we say. It saves lives.
I really respect and appreciate that you include nurses and midwives, so many people really underestimate how much nurses and midwives know and how efficient they are at supporting women and promoting better health care. There is NO substitute for the centuries worth of knowledge and experience that comprises Nursing and Midwifery. We need more solidarity between physicians, Nurses, and midwives!
lu I completely agree! And thank you for all the hard work you and every other doctor/nurse do to keep us mothers and our babies safe! I have so much respect for you all.
I think you may have been more educated if you went to Ante natal classes rather than relying on Google. We all know there is a lot of mistruth on the internet that is open to interpretation. At least things seem ok though one can never be sure. Many infant problems and child development issues are not evident until the child fails to reach developmental milestones in the future. A slow fetal heart rate in utero is nothing to chill about. It is an abnormal heart rate, indicative that oxygenation is not as it should be. It is disturbing that Alex belittled the staff, telling them to chill, implying that they were just fidgeting when they were doing their job and managing the situation. The real skill in the obstetric profession is identifying the abnormal and using best and safest practice to achieve optimal outcomes. Medicine and midwifery requires higher learning and skill than this couple gave the staff credit for. We have a duty to explain risk factors and it is not done to annoy people as Alex portrayed. Also you will find doctors, midwives and nurses are attracted to these occupations because they are the 'carers' of the world and yes they do have to make a living. I'm just thankful that the vast majority of people are far more respectful of knowledge and education than this couple. I worry about what is coming next on this channel. Why we shouldn't immunize our children and novice parents who know best and everything and parenting perhaps. Oh they have so much to learn!
It somehow feels like Mimi is being bullied into thinking the way Alex wants her to... "I wanted a home birth...lets not go to hospital yet...I don't want a csection etc" says a man... a fricking man! If that was my husband I'd call a cab and leave him at home and go do it myself...sory.. Love you Mimi but this was just uncomfortable to listen to :(
I don't know what i find worse: his behavior or the fact that she doesn't rebel against it. If my husband had behaved like this during the birth of our daughter, he would have got the divorce papers right after that.
Monika R and yet somehow Mimi is constantly praising him for being soooo supportive and suuuuch a good husband. He needs constant reassurance. I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees how controlling and selfish he is.
Watching this has made me so sad. I've had 2 amazing vaginal births but with both the doctor at one point told me that there was a chance of me getting a C-section and I told him to do whatever he thought necessary. ... I never questioned him, I just fully trusted the wonderful professional I had chosen and, most importantly, I prioritized my babies' health.
Bonding? vaginal or c-section birth has nothing to do with bonding. You don't bond less with your child or your child less with you just because you have a c-section.
The biggest irony is that in their whole natural bla bla route she ended up having an epidural?! What happened to Dr Alex the expert when she decided to get the epidural
I had a c section and am very bonded with my baby - I don't think it's fair to say such negative things about c sections. Of course it's not everyone's ideal circumstance but it doesn't cause you to not bond with your baby.
"Do your own research." I'm sorry, what kind of research did the two of you do? Did you go out into the field and perform clinical trials that showed no statistically significant harm in carrying a baby past 42 weeks? Or are the opinions you state based on valid, peer-reviewed and critically appraised medical research? If so, please state your sources so we can be informed as well. Because it sounds to me like you two just googled around until you found random blog posts that fit with what your ideals of labor and delivery are. True research is monitoring and recording outcomes of the labor of millions of women and analyzing what those outcomes are - seeing whether those outcomes varied with medical intervention or not. It's called evidence-based medicine. This is what the whole medical field is centered around. Dangers around going over 42 weeks in pregnancy were not based on 1 paper written in the 40s. These guidelines were based on many, many studies that were reviewed and published in scientific journals. There will NEVER be a guideline put into practice that is based on one article or that was not reviewed by thousands of experts in the field. These studies were done by scientists and medical professionals who dedicate their lives to advancing medicine and health care to save people's lives. I trust them. How ignorant and self-righteous of you, to suggest that whatever research you did, compares to that.
Hi mimi. Thank you for sharing your experience. I am a medical professional and I would like to add that the vast majority of us do not go into this profession to make money or see patients as a business. We risk our careers daily, which in my case took over 9 years of post graduate education to achieve, trying to not only do the best for our patients according to the guidelines set out for us by decades of research, but deal with patient preference to find a satisfactory outcome for all parties. If the risks you chose to take against medical advice, which by the way is not based on one retrospective trial from years ago, but cumulative ongoing trails, resulted in harm to the baby or you, the doctor would still have to take full responsibility for that if they chose to continue caring for you. The nurse that was 'fidgeting' was doing all she could to not miss a critical deterioration in the baby's or your condition. Hospitals are not a place to relax. They are a high risk, high pressure environment for doctors as well, but medical intervention has reduced maternal and baby mortality rates to such an extent that people may have forgotten what a risky undertaking it is. I really hope you carefully research whether to vaccinate your child, as that sole intervention has saved millions of children who would have died of 'natural' infections. Wishing you and your lovely family the very best and I am so happy for you all.
Pain-free birth is possible...and I honestly don't know why it happened to me. First birth (daughter Jessica) was 40 years ago :) My labor lasted 6 hours and the nurse was rather angry at me because I didn't know when I was having a contraction. Second birth (daughter Angela) was 37 years ago. I didn't know I was in active labor and went in to the doctor's office for my weekly visit. She told me to go to the hospital...and I had Angie 2 hours later. Many people think I just don't remember the pain...but that's silly. Back in 1976 and 1979, they did not offer pain relief like an epidural. Natural was in! I feel blessed...but really, a healthy baby and mom is ALL that matters!! Enjoy every second with your little one!
I usually agree about society putting us into averages, but what makes labor and delivery unique is the fact that what you're putting at risk is a real baby. So when we're talking about the likelihood of these adverse outcomes happening to you if you are post-dates, yes the statistic may seem small to you but when you weigh that against death of your baby as an outcome then it puts it all into perspective. Villainizing doctors won't help. Doctors don't like working with insurance companies either, but some of the highest malpractice insurance is paid by Ob's because of the simple reality that they are some of the most sued. I lean towards using midwives too, but you have to be reasonable.
To all the women listening to this video, take EVERYTHING they saw with a grain of salt. They are not medical professionals and a lot of their information is incorrect. Being a medical doctor who is involved in prenatal care it saddens me that someone like Mimi with such a wide audience is giving incorrect information. This might lead to her audience now not trusting their doctor as "Mimi and Alex" said otherwise. The comment about insurance - its not a business for doctors, our hands our tied when it comes to insurances and what they cover.
i'm really afraid that if that's your opinion on medicine you won't even vaccine your baby. i'm really hoping to be wrong, but i'm unsure...let us know what you will do!
Yeah, Now that you say that, I start it to think about it too. HOPEFULLY, they will vaccine the baby. I started getting a weird feeling about this pregnancy since the first video when they said more about "this human being" than my baby. After this video, I definitely will put this subscription on hold because if I continue to see video likes this, I will unsubscribed. :/
I hate to be cynical about this especially because it involves a baby and is the most innocent thing but this pregnancy although an amazing personal journey for Mimi , they seem to have cashed on it as well by attracting so many new moms and moms to be. Pregnancy updates are very much fun but a daily update for such an intimate thing ? Intimate Videos of them dancing out for public viewing ? It's too desperate. There's nothing wrong with sharing happiness with the world but I think it's kinda classless to share the intimate details with the whole world. I guess when you constantly need validation from people who you have never met before telling you your relationship is awesome is a sign of extreme self-esteem and faith in your relationship. Wonder what kind of couple would they be had they not had all these luxuries. Something tells me that they would be very insecure and that's why they are trying so damn hard to prove otherwise
This is truly beautiful. I am tucked up in bed, watching this whole thing as if it were a movie. I cried when you announced you were pregnant and I cried when she was born. I really do feel as if I am part of your family; you and Alex are my biggest inspirations - you have mde me want to go out there and make something amazing in my life, and I will - as will Alexa, bless her heart.
It's really sad and disturbing to hear that your "healthy natural lifestyle" was more important to you than your baby's health. I had to have an emergency c-section to save my baby's and my live (HELLP Syndrome) and i'm still grateful, that the doctors could save us. I don't want to imagine, what would have happened without the c-section. My daughter, she turns 27 next month, and I have a very special connection and never had bonding issues. This video is so insulting to me.
way mlp Don't understand why it's insulting to you. You needed a C Section because of medical reasons and you did get one. Totally understandable. Mimi did not need one although at some point of her delivery doctor has had worries and took her to operating theatre. Still doctor decided not to do it when babies heart rate came back to normal. Totally understandable as well. Where is the insulting part? Her pregnancy and delivery went well so I do not see a reason to induce labour and get C section. She is not against these only says quite reasonable thing: IF YOU DONT NEED THEM WHY GO FOR THEM??? She wanted to give birth naturally. What's wrong or insulting about it? I'm sure if something would be wrong with the baby she would not hesitate to have a C section or induce labour. Still nothing did go wrong. Her baby was born perfectly healthy and was not too big for her age. She did not put her baby life at risk. Because your labour story was different you did have to take different decisions into account. Mimi does not insult you - she tells her story and in her case her baby wasn't in any danger - most of the specialist she dealt with confirmed it.
They are implying, that my connection with my daughter isn't as strong and not "complete" because i didn't gave birth naturally. Thats pretty insulting to me.
Wow, that was terrifying to listen to. I understand you guys like to have things go a certain way, but that was incredibly risky and God definitely saw you through it. When a babies' heart rate drops its possible for them to not get oxygen to their brain. I mean.. Telling the nurse to "chill, the babies heart rate is going down but it's okay." Wow.... I don't know what more to say. I'm so glad everything turned out for the best and everyone is healthy.
I'd just like to add that, while doctors are well trained. We have to be advocates for our own bodies. I've had 2 c sections. One was an emergency the other was scheduled because the midwife kept if i wanted to schedule. My little guy was due during Christmas, dec 26th to be exact, and I feel they just wanted to get it over with. As a result of the c sections my kids have peanut/tree nut allergies as well as eczema. For the eczema I went to 4 different specialists and was prescribed several steroids and antibiotics. I rub it on and off for a year without lasting results, the kids scratched their skin till they bled. Finally I decided to take them to the beach because I heard salt water was good for eczema, and low and behold their skin completely healed up in 2-3 days. I now do salt baths and their skin is perfect. As for the peanuts I was told my kids should avoid them and to carry around an Epi pen all their lives. Now some Drs say to eat peanuts in small increments, as a cure.
+shivondevi what I'm trying to say is that doctors are well trained but they do not know everything. Sometimes they are not even current with the most up to date research on a topic. Always be an advocate for your body. It's best to go as natural as possible. There are millions of bacteria in the vaginal birth canal that our bodies need to function properly. Also having a c section affects the mother's body dramatically. So I can understand their trepidation with not wanting a c-section. Neither decision is easy. They both have risks involved, but I'm very glad Mimi and Alexa are healthy.
shivondevi He is a good business and sales man and she is good with hair tutorials. But they just cannot accept the fact that these two uneducated bastards have no authority to spread wrong medical information in masses. Only on instagram she has over a million followers. If some dumb young girls listen to her and not to the healthcare providers, the result might be lethal. And that will be their fault.
@monikadaily Yes, c-section babies have a higher likelihood of developing allergies/asthma. Here are a few studies/articles if you'd like references 1) sciencenordic.com/giant-study-links-c-sections-chronic-disorders 2) www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16297144
You guys are so rude how can you talk to a doctor and nurse like that if you did so much research why not just give birth at home alone without doctors
There's a difference between a kiss here and there which is fine but it isn't necessary to kiss that much. This is a public video, pretty sure they can stop kissing so much for an hour or so. But sure, this is their channel and they can do what they want.
I can't believe him, Mimi was so in pain that she was open to a c section and when the doctor talked about epidural Alex asked if she could do it naturally🤔 God! She is the only one who could decide for this
Alma Solorzano they have both talked about this. They always finish each other's sentence and it seems like they are talking over one another, but neither of them seem bothered by it.
Wow they are very... Stupid. Like I'm all for natural birth but to literally trying to stall nurses and delay medical help when their heartbeats dropping is just ridiculous. And what's the shit with bonding and c sections. My daughter was born via c section and our bond is incredible. Also for the record my c section birth was beautiful and my recovery was pain free.
Effie Caren preach girl , 38 week c section here . I had gestational diabetes and they didn't want to try to turn her cuz of the risks . It was a no brainer for me , I didn't want to put my baby at risk because of a "birth plan " .
Iren Kolar exactly. I can't believe some of the stuff they said and did. I was the same I didn't want to turn her either, too many risks. Natural births are great but not when baby and mother are at such risk. Google is not a doctor goddam it .
Seems like they are really tired but addicted to making $ so made this video without even thinking.. poor baby Alexa's special video got ruined by their greed..overconfident/overexcited pair who thinks they can do anything and beat nature just cuz they own few businesses lol
Why do you erase comments, Mimi and Alex? If you don't want YOUR subscribers and viewers to leave you feedback, why not just disable the comments instead of wasting our time? Yesterday I left a message under another viewer's comment who had 15+ responses and 600+ thumbs up and today, it's gone! If it's too much for you to handle YOUR subscibers' opinions than maybe it's time to call it quits in this venue, don't you think?
Exactly. We are good enough to click the video, so they cash in, but when we have an opinion and bring it across in a nice way, we have to leave. What's the comment section for if not commenting? Also: who has a new born and spends all their day deleting thousands of comments? My mom worked and studied on the side when she had me. That just shows how far away from reality these two are.
I must say I am really hurt by the comment about not bonding as well with your baby if you have a c-section. I had no choice but to have a c-section and I can't begin to describe the love I have for my son, natural birth or not I know it makes no difference. If that's your opinion then fine, but you have thousands of people watching this did you not consider the feelings of others?
I don't understand why did they go to the hospital? why Alex couldn't dо just a little more research and deliver baby at home? Also there are so many negative energy and unperfection in a hospital, no one is chilling there..
Good point. I think they were hoping that because it was a private and expensive hospital, they would be treated well and their will would be respected. Also, because she was "overdue", so to speak, they felt it was safer to give birth at the hospital. However, I think when it's time for their second one, they'll go with midwife-assisted home birth perhaps? Even though midwives also have to obey the 37-42 weeks nonsense rule.
Wow I'm really surprised about how frustrated I was watching this video. I understand that you wanted to let Alexa come when she and your body was ready but your criticism of a hospital and a dr for not being able to help you because of their insurance.... your opinion of negativity in this situation is so negative. Anyone would think you and Alex did a midwifery course during your pregnancy! I was so excited to watch this video but I'm really disappointed with you guys 😞
Lol. Alex is giving advice like he was the one in labour. "The whole thing with birth... is to relax and let the body do the work. If you resist, the body will resist".
I love watching your videos Mimi, but oh my goodness!! TRUST THE DOCTORS!! There is a reason they are doctors: for studying and testing for decades and still continuing their education. Praise God Alexa was born healthy, could have been otherwise.
I was induced at 41 weeks 3 days and my son was 9 lbs 14 ounces but I thought the main concern for "late term" was the risk of the baby having a bowel movement inside your stomach and them swallowing it, not sure of the medical term.
The other risk is the baby no longer getting the needed nutrients anymore. After a certain point there is a trend where the baby's weight starts to go down inside the mom because the nutrients aren't coming through properly or are no longer enough. It can lead to stillbirth in very severe cases.
I'm not a mother or anything but I have taken a few classes on child development at university. What I have learned was overdue babies can SOMETIMES have developmental issues, so idk why Mimi and Alex are SO chill and demanding "natural" ways. They were even insisting on longer than 42 week pregnancy 😐... that deffinetley does not sound healthy.
@9:19 Mimi, you weren't "late by society standards." You were late and in a risky situation as deemed by medical standards, supported by years of scientific development and an immense amount of groundbreaking research. To be quite honest, you are lucky to have a healthy baby with no fatal complications during delivery. If it was me, I would never risk my baby's health for my own selfish expectations and demands, with the hope that everything will turn out alright. I am thrilled you and baby are happy and healthy, but if anything went wrong, would you and Alex be able to forgive yourselves for not taking the advise of those much more experienced than you? Just some food for thought...
funny how when everything was still going fine, the professional's recommendations were considered business hungry but when you were in excruciating pain, you were praising the doctors for their knowledge
I agree with both you, the only reason i didn't want a c section is because the recovery is brutal, vaginal delivery is much easier
I feel like she's talking over him a lot. Also, he helped make the human being too.
I can't!
Your body was telling you to push, but you didn't listen? Yet, you preach to your followers to let nature take its course?Hmm.
as just a mbbs student...i agree with you completely...as soon as the video started i started having the exact same thoughts ! thank you for putting them here so atleast people get the actual scenario wch plays out !
Mary A This comment says it all, thank you!
Thank you!!!
I couldn't get passed 15 minutes because i got so angry...
People who have nothing to do with medicine shouldn't give advice and do their own "research", it is years and years of hard work trying to save patients from themselves.
Anecdote is not data!
Morgan Davis totally agree, you can't say things because of staditics
Morgan Davis this video, while supposed to be happy i got turned off with their ignorance
I agree.
Re-Post (copy and pasted original comment)

Sad really!
Mary A Bravo. I am a nurse. Ive seen things.
Very arrogant wasn't he?and I thought he was OK before!
alexandra foley amen!!!!
Elsie Molly All I want to say is be careful ladies, monitor yourself and talk with you doctor frequently when you pass your due date.
Magdalena Janina Laska She had the NST's and ultrasound. She was closely monitored. Seems like her due date was wrong. Didn't sound like much risk there.
maybe I am nuts but from what I understood, she said UP TO 42 weeks is still fairly fine. After that medical intervention is needed.
Magdalena Janina Laska i totally agree! Not even a cow carries past 40 weeks
Completely agree reality is until you have close friends and family or yourself experienced a stillborn due to being over due it's not something everyone women may understand. Because it happens . I had a baby died after 2mths even since then my anxiety increases so I don't like going near 42wks. You have to experience to understand . By all means comes to 42wks but understand risk exsit With that.
alex must feel like he's a hero that saved the day.
hahahahhahahahha so true
Phuong Phan that's why the girl's name is Alexa lol
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA so true Val! He must love himself so much he just added "a" to his name.
😂😂😂
You like to have to list 5 things you are grateful for everyday right? So 1. I am grateful that there are medical doctors 2. I am thankful that you don't to guess and research about your health 3. I am happy for the both of you 4. I am thankful that my mom delivered me into this world even thought 'it's not natural' 5. I am thankful I have a lot doctors in my family to keep me from lashing at you for it would be considered unprofessional
Lyle Veronica Rabara
With my first baby they wouldn't even touch me till I was over 40 weeks before they would consider doing a sweep and they surely wouldn't induce anyone unless they are at least 41 weeks with a good reason - however at 42 weeks you are overdue and you are risking your baby and having a natural delivery.
i'm a medical student too and i completely agree with you .
Eva Grace As a fellow med student I completely agree with you
Well said 👏🏻
not only the baby gets big, but the placenta gets old and the risk for the baby gets higher and higher after the 42 weeks. There is A LOT of research that proves this.
Alex told the midwife to CHILL, Alex told the nurse everything is ok when the heartbeat is dropping....? Your research cannot defeat medical professionals' knowledge!!!
He's ignorant, deluded, and thinks himself as more informed than a doctor.
M M
Lol.
I totally agree with you. and I'm un subscribing just because they got on my nerves with their "dumb" thinking.
WOW. Well said!
I totally agree. But they are not educated. Mimi dropped out of college and they plan to homeschool Alexa. They are very close minded and selfish.
As a child who was born via emergency section, I take offense that my "connection" with my Mom isn't as strong because she didn't have a "natural birth."
basia cady ur gay....ur mom is a follower not leader
I couldn't agree more. My mom HAD to have a c section with me and my twin brother and I don't think are connection was any less because of it
Elissa Feldman are you 12??
you were obviously dropped often as a child
basia cady totally agree. i was born c section and am super close to my mother. so did my brother...
Every time Alex said that "He" didn't want a C-Section, I wanted to punch him through the screen.
Legal Eagle why?
why? LOL
probably because it's too easy to make decisions for somebody else's body
Monika D.
My last pregnancy was an emergency c-section due to heart rate dropping I was 40 weeks pregnant
Heart rate dropped, my son pooped inside and swallowed everything that wasn't supposed to be swallowed
Also the cord was wrapped around his neck if I wouldn't have went for the csection he would have died
My son was in the nicu for 2 weeks with an infection!
They're so proud of themselves for using public healthcare...
Hilary R yeah because the baby was humble ......
Hilary R They don't fucking deserve public healthcare or the NHS.
Maybe?
Great Insight! They strive to put up this facade (the social media effect). But this video showed their true colors.
If you're watching this and pregnant, please for the sake of us all.. don't take their medical advice. They have no idea what they're talking about..😐
Hush!
Kaela Bryant omg they are not giving medical advice!
Poor baby.
sugarfix204
I'm a also a postpartum nurse and although I'm very pro natural I know when medical intervention is in my best interest.
My mom went into labor because she was watching Ace Ventura and laughed so hard her water broke lol
This is so funny 😂
Hanna U lol
Hanna U looool
DAILYBUMPER! HEY ok
i hope that is true because this story is too funny :D
Hey Mimi! congratulations on your beautiful girl, she is adorable!
Deleting comments is dismissive and fake.
samanthaaoxox right, and at the end of the video Mimi's like, I would love to hear your comments, leave a comment down below...
Alex is so confused, he thought he was the one carrying the baby the whole time.
Anam L everyone is hipster until things go wrong then they run to doctors
These two are so ignorant it was infuriating to watch the video. Who needs doctors? Just use google. - Mimi and Alex
If the heartbeat is dropping a doctor, midwife, nurse WON'T chill, they will ACT.
Better take the video down rather than keep deleting negative but truthful comments.
I wish Mimi was a little bit more humble like her sister Leyla.
+Destiny sorry for all typos. 😉
Stiiggy well said!!!
Stiiggy yes exactly! well said.
These two are wackos.
hahahahha true
Lauren LaPlume I bet if he even had a period cramp he would be rolling on the floor 😁
Alex is a full of shit. Entirely.
samanthaaoxox how u can say sth like this and think that you are ok and better than he is...funny
Lauren LaPlume I bet everyone here would literally pay to watch him giving birth naturally without epidural or c section
Deleting honest comments... countdown started
gunness they already deleted hundreds of comments
AutumnLeaves Fall Really? for some reason they kept "hateful" comments (the emotional but honest ones annoyed and outraged by the arrogance and ignorance in the video) to justify "that it is all negative energy thrown at them" but deleted the informed, constructive ones coming from the medical professionals.
Unless you shower them with compliments your comment will be deleted, bit like living in North Korea.
Coconess
Mimi has a thicker skin...I suspect Alex is behind the deletions
Did Alex really just say he tried to stall the nurses?
His stupidity could have cost the baby's life
They turned out to be such narrowed minded people.
Sometimes really "open minded" people get so severely fixed in "open minded" concepts that they become totally closed to everything else. They are sometimes the most closed minded people, ironically
Shortsin Portugal I've learned that from experience as well
Ella Finstad HARSH! they have THEIR views, theyve chosen to share it for the many thousands who CHOOSE to watch....dont see parents who force feed junk food to their kids getting this abuse!!
Shortsin Portugal exactly what I was thinking
Lily Lebowsky
Also, stop scamming people and deleting negative comments on your book review on Amazon!!! Keep doing it because people are going to report you for scam and being frauds. Amazon have been notified about this
what is the scam?
erdal0 they keep deleting negative comments of their book on Amazon, they do this on a daily basis and make up positive comments by making different accounts and getting people who havent read the book to leave positive comments
Hasanah
that is the scam? what is wrong with their book?
erdal0 They told people if they gave it a five star review they'd be entered for a chance to meet them. Lmao. Incentivized reviews, which is something Amazon has recently banned. They should be getting some kind of repercussions from this, hopefully impacting they're precious money since that's all they care about.
xy23 kj
can you link the video?
Stop interrupting Alex PLEASE mimi
Indi Mist lol
Indi Mist you are on her channel. If you don't like it go to another channel 😉
Indi Mist you can leave now.
I think she's just super excited to share her story with us :)
Yes!
Lol you would think he gave birth to the friking baby
I know!
i know he's like... i came to every appointment! like... bruh? that's ... fairly normal
Haha yeah..I laughed when he was complaining about only having had 3 hours sleep while his wife hadn't had any and was in labour like for real!?
+LUXE PUNK I know!!! And saying he breathed with her and all that like!?!! Dude. You were just breathing congrats every live human does that
***** wow this actually spot on! Haha
Omg Mimi and her waves, they name are contractions because your muscle contract and there isnt anything wrong with this word, they actualy describe whats going on with your body.
Kristina Klobučar Sigurnjak she can call them whatever she wants
But it doesn't matter what it means, it still sound negative
Maria M a penis c section😂
Maria M Hmmm maybe he could "relax" while passing a kidney stone. Lol
Cmon Alex is not a victim. His story doesn't make me feel sorry for him, that's life! He is a control freak. And this video is scary!
This guy is unbelievable! He says to his wife "it was intense, especially for you". Oh gee, ya think??
I did not know that medicine were "society standards"
Exactly! Judging science! Report!
Rena Knd of
Natalia Rojas wow
For a couple who love to live a positive life, this video has left me feeling less than that. Thanks Alex and Mimi for making me feel upset, nervous and inadequate about the fact that I have to have a c section (for medical reasons). I cannot believe how irresponsible you guys have been!
'I wanted it to be an effortless experience' umm Mimi it's called Labour for a reason....
nope! lets not call it labour anymore. like contractions are renamed as waves, I hereby rename labour as Spa day
loooooooool
hahahahahaha....... I m sorry but only commoners like you have pain in Labour but not precious Mimi Ikonn... she is above all this mere mortal afflictions :P
hahaha true that! my bad :P
+Kay Ban lol. Alex called their bathroom as very ZEN during labor when Mimi was obviously in pain
Congratulations to you both.. she is beautiful 😍😍
Watching this video was disturbing, your "vision" of life seems like it's becoming unhealthy..take a step back :)
You want to live a humble life yet have hurt thousands of your subscribers and won't even reply to their comments.. ego. these are the people who have helped you grow.
Alex and Mimi are obviously trying too hard to seem as perfect as possible.
well, their life is hella alot better than average, dont you think?
I too think this. They always portray themselves as lived up and she always shows in there vlogs that they are so I love. When they must have down sides too. Plus you can't judge from a few photos and a weekly video what they are really going through
I see my comment was deleted. Oh well, I guess it's always hard to accept the fact that you're wrong.
Goodnesss... Alex you literally did nothing during this birth. Stop saying we, all u did was have sex with her. You didn't carry the baby! Shush!!!!!
And why are you basically bashing public healthcare. You two are so snobby.
lmao the part where he's like i'm stalling with the nurse! i asked her to recheck the dilation! i made out with her and saved our baby!!! i was screaming my head off
And did you notice how he often ignored her when she made jokes or commented on her own experience? I guess you can't buy good communication skills at ikea
Janie Fawn he kept talking like he knew the experience better than her? she was like JUST GET THE BABY OUT OF ME and he was like... birthing is all about relaxation
Days like this If anyone remembers he actually said that for him the best part of this pregnancy experience was having unprotected sex lol
Please "do your research" before you spread information that can put people's lives at risk.
you don't even know what induction is... :( this video is so sad.. I'm afraid that people will believe their words more than their doctors words...
I just finished watching the video and I cannot believe that Alex told the nurses to calm down and everything was okay when the heart frecuency of the baby drop down. That's the main indicative that your baby is suffering of lack of oxygen. You are truly a very irresponsable person.
I shook at that part. Speechless.
Chatting With Angela well said
I'm also wondering how he was even able to see his wife basically pass out from exhaustion and pain and still care only about seeing his baby come from a vagina and not from a cut in the skin.
+Rebecca amazing example, can't believe it if it's not your body's you shouldn't have say in it, he's not giving birth but acts like it.
I have to post it again, because a girl had posted this comment and got over 1000 likes but the comment was obviously deleted : "Everytime he says "I didn't want a c-section" I wanted to push him trough the screen. "
This one was my favorite. Please if you recognize this comment write it again !
Much love 😹😻
punch him*
mine favourite, too :D
MajaM yeahhh ! Even better 😹
Thank God for doctors and modern medicine that save these babies born before "they were ready."
savvy1208 : your comment is absolutely right 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻im soo glad people have given them back and not taken their shit as usual
savvy1208 exactlyyy!
yea , who makes out when you are in labour lol
hahaha so agree
this is so funny ahhahaahh
We all have a choice.
heyjoey009
I have a friend who lost her baby for the same reason, she was being monitored but still, things can go bad fast at that stage. But they deleted my comment. they don't care to hear it because they're lucky their baby is fine. And take all advice as negativity in their perfect life. They make me sick, definitely unsubscribed.
It's frustrating how Alex is so obsessed with natural delivery when Mimi and the baby is clearly in danger. Listen to the doctor and midwives dude.
He doesn't want a c-section? I didn't know he was pregnant. lol
he probably didn't want mimi to have scars ... an imperfect?? what would he do then???? how would he still love her???
Pam Espinoza this is a late reply but in the beginning of her pregnancy mimi said in the announcement video we are pregnant she and Alex hhhh
which is fine that she said that but the way he said it sounded like he was the 1 that was going to have a c-section. lol
It's still his baby though.
He can make inputs about how their child is brought into the world.
would she have been less of a woman if she had a csection ..?
"It's intense work... especially for you" like wow Alex that must have been some hard work you've done, comparing to Mimi
With them being so publically reckless, I'm sure it's just a matter of time before child services intervenes.
degree in google-ing
This is everything.
Exactly!
lu I completely agree!
Love you Mimi but this was just uncomfortable to listen to :(
Plus to purposely keep the doctors out of the room knowing the heart rate was going down... I don't even have the words...
Monika R I don't think she realizes how much he manipulates her :(
I hope she will see that he is using her as a doormat!
What happened to Dr Alex the expert when she decided to get the epidural
lolanovak. and they want all natural but they sell hair extensions 😂😂
lolanovak hahhaha
Lori Fozo great!!! You should have gotten more babies then haha! Hope your life is as easy as your labours!
Lori Fozo OMG I want that too 🙏
you are so funny!
i meant Unicorn Horse you are so funny!! :)
So lucky
Edeliz Flores In my opinion she was completely reasonable.
friabili no vaccines and only feeding baby grass..
And un-school her.
Something tells me that they would be very insecure and that's why they are trying so damn hard to prove otherwise
friabili I was thinking the same after watching this video
This is truly beautiful. I am tucked up in bed, watching this whole thing as if it were a movie. I cried when you announced you were pregnant and I cried when she was born. I really do feel as if I am part of your family; you and Alex are my biggest inspirations - you have mde me want to go out there and make something amazing in my life, and I will - as will Alexa, bless her heart.
just watched it - beautiful! x
They both have risks involved, but I'm very glad Mimi and Alexa are healthy.
shivondevi allergies as a result of a csection??? Hahahah!
shivondevi He is a good business and sales man and she is good with hair tutorials. But they just cannot accept the fact that these two uneducated bastards have no authority to spread wrong medical information in masses. Only on instagram she has over a million followers. If some dumb young girls listen to her and not to the healthcare providers, the result might be lethal. And that will be their fault.
@monikadaily Yes, c-section babies have a higher likelihood of developing allergies/asthma.
Here are a few studies/articles if you'd like references

2) www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16297144
THIS IS ABOUT HEALTH, NOT SOCIETY STANDARDS. THIS IS ABOUT LIFE, NOT FASHION. AVERAGE IS NOT BAD.
You guys are so rude how can you talk to a doctor and nurse like that if you did so much research why not just give birth at home alone without doctors
Are those 35 kisses really necessary?
María Benito sorry that you have a stone instead of your heart. Sucks to be u
Unicorn Horse I don't thinks she has a stone in place of a heart but it gets annoying to watch. They overdo things
There's a difference between a kiss here and there which is fine but it isn't necessary to kiss that much. This is a public video, pretty sure they can stop kissing so much for an hour or so. But sure, this is their channel and they can do what they want.
What?! They didnt even kiss that much. And I'd love to see them even kiss more, they are so lovely together.
I can't believe him, Mimi was so in pain that she was open to a c section and when the doctor talked about epidural Alex asked if she could do it naturally🤔 God! She is the only one who could decide for this
And the epidural helps to not feel the pain, not to "just relax"
GOSH! Stop interrupting Alex. He seemed so annoyed by that!
Vanessa V I know. I noticed that too. But it looks like she does that to him a lot. Very annoying.
Alma Solorzano they have both talked about this. They always finish each other's sentence and it seems like they are talking over one another, but neither of them seem bothered by it.
Vanessa V agreed!

Also there are so many negative energy and unperfection in a hospital, no one is chilling there..
favorite comment :D :D :D :D

Lol. Alex said "I didn't want the C-Section". Are you the one giving birth????
Don't play with heart rates b. Yours was just luck.
AML xo you are correct. The medical term is meconium aspiration
