I don't think the person who hired you understands how lucky they are. You are one of the only people in the entire industry who could get this done the way you did. I hope one day I can be as resourceful as you. Thank you for showing us all the way!
Wow Reg. When you started chunking it down with the 50" bar my jaw dropped. I'm not a big man and at 68 years old, the biggest saw I climb with has a 20" bar. I like the truck load of chips to make a cushy mat to drop chunks on. Much respect brother.
I hear ya, Jake. I try to keep my tree removals or pruning jobs 3 hours long or less. That way, I'm not hurting so bad that I can't get to sleep. I have an Echo CS4910 50cc saw with a 20" bar. I do take it up to cut big spars that my tophandle saws can't handle. It's one of the lightest 50cc saws, and with the decompression valve, it's also easy to start in a tree. Keep up the good work, but be kind to your body.
You are an ABSOLUTE TITAN in the tree community. Your humbleness is only matched your professionalism. I just wanted to state that. I truly hope you wisdom is passed on through your channel & videos
I've been in that position a time or 2, an let me say first if u don't love the work you won't battle threw. We as climbers are a dieing breed.Treelife#I still love it 20 yrs in...An I love 2 hate it sometimes 2...Stay safe to all my fellow climbing mates....
Jesus Christ, Reg! I'm 77 yrs old, and I've never seen anything like this one. A true masterpiece. Thank you, and I'm glad you're healthy after such demanding work.
Reg a video by you is always enjoyable to watch. I like your method of dealing with the wood, definitely makes it easier to handle. Nicely done and thanks for taking the time to make a video so we can see how a professional like you gets a tough job done.
People have no idea how hard, and physically demanding that is let alone the mental stress that go with it i could only imagine trying to set up cameras at the same time, Great job
Bloody Legend! Thanks for the vid Reg and really cool to hear the reasoning behind your methods. I did have a chuckle at the part about dropping the loads off, we have all been there!! Stay safe bro!
Thank you Reg for yet another amazing video.. I'm an arborist is Sussex England... I love the fact that you show all the job.. Not just the glamorous bits.. The bits where your busting a gut until 7pm in the dark on your own. I really love the cuppa up the tree.. I've learnt So much from you over the years... Thank you 🤝
Reg Everytime I see one of your videos I tell myself, that's gonna be me when I'm your age. I feel we are very similar people Both very humble very introverted and both are badasses. Keep posting my man. Your a major leader in this industry. Stay safe and much love reg. Thanks for the video.
Dropping a tree that size whole in the forest would be hard enough but to take it down the way you did was something I would have paid to see. You never let us down. Always look forward to a new video. You da man.
Reg, your a machine, doubtless you might disagree, either way I hope you got well paid, my lower back started aching in sympathy just watching, Great video.
Reg we love your edits and if nobody else has mentioned it. Good to see ya, glad you seem well and thank you for the content. The work may be repetitive but on all honesty.... Repetitive success in a tight area indicates competancy, you cant just be lucky everytime lol.
love the video, and the hustle. so many tree guys cry about losing a job to a climber when they have all the equipment, when all they really need is to knuckle down and hammer it out with some mind and muscle.
Holy sh#$ Reg !!!!!! I'm thinking that 2 hour drive wasn't nearly enough to rest your arm's and back !!!! Every hat I own is off too you !!! Was hoping to get to see some of this job, now I'm wore out just from watching 😀 Thank You ❤ Huge Respect
The work you do is amazing! I can't believe you're using a 50" bar up in a tree like that. I do some climbing on my own property and but cannot handle more than 24" in a tree. 50" bar in a tree is truly impressive! Hats off to you, Reg! I'm a long time subscriber, and always enjoy your new videos, by the way. 🙂
Your attitude at the end speaks volumes I have a massive amount of respect for someone that can do a job like that and essentially say that doing it the hard way isn’t a big that’s just what needed done
The 16min point in the video with the explanation was needed for the folks out there that have never cut on the west coast. Hand cutting large conifers is niche in the greater arb' industry, now rife with too much tech' and amazing mechinized cutting booms. I appreciate this video Reg! brings back the memories for me.
A raw video of the tree would be super awesome I think you would be surprised at how many people would watch it, I love the raw vids there great learning tools
I would like to thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge with the arborist world, you are an excellent example of the the industry great, please keep up with the videos they are forever paving new roads.
Reg, one constant in all your videos...there is NO quit in you buddy. the old saying is still true "slow and steady wins the race. It's a marathon not a sprint". Well done. I sure hope you bid that one high enough...you earned every penny on that one. BTW I sure do recognize that lil' ol' band from Texas.
Wow Reg...you already had my full respect, but after watching you work this job I don't know whether to just respect you or worship the ground you walk on !!!
As always, thanks for another great video! I appreciate you showing showing the job all the way through the clean up, and the up-stem cuppa! Was some beautiful display of growth rings in the one shot, hope it makes for some great firewood after all that work! Best to you and yours!
Reg you are the man👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🦾!!! And it’s a shame we have so many TH-cam arborists who question every move another man makes to provide and take care of his own. I find myself constantly explaining to them that it’s okay for someone to do a tree differently from how they would 🙄 when they should just be glad to be entertained by another tree guy, they waste so much of our time critiquing and criticizing to where it makes me so sick 🤢. I definitely appreciated that “Clinic” you put on to show us young bucks why you are still the OG of TH-cam true tree work without all the glitz and glam but more grit and guts. You captured the essence of the job (although if you were to post the whole job all the good the bad the ugly because these coddled baby tree-men need to see a real tree man in action) how many people will overlook the wisdom in which you dismantled this behemoth of a tree given the circumstances you mentioned will be nothing short of mind boggling because they know sooo much🤣🤣🤣 Anyways I find myself taking more and more breaks from YT due to the lack of open minded individuals. It was a treat to jump on here and see your work and as usual very very good work. I’m trying to get back in to posting more but time is always the issue too and yet I still have been lurking in the background watching your videos as well as the others. True there are tons of amazing tree guys some we have seen and many we have never even heard about or seen before but when it comes to this right here on YT I always tell everybody you are amongst the elite climber YT Royalty and in my book you hold the crown 👑 irrespective of a sub count. Keep up the good work Reg!
It's been a while, but always great to hear from you. Subscriber numbers have never been an incentive for me, not will they ever. In fact I could do with less not more. I hope you are doing well. I will make a point of checking in with your stuff too, but since the pandemic I seemed to stop getting notifications from the people I subbed to like yourself. And heard the same back from my own subscribers, that they thought I'd stopped making videos. So something must have changed at YT. Anyway, hope to see you again, maybe at a tcia expo in the future.
Bro, I just watched this on my TV and it was awesome. I know what it's like to work alone but I've never seen a tree that big here out east. Solid work man.
Thanks for sharing as a climber. I know the "grind it out" those jobs are tough. You did an amazing job. Not many tree people could have done the job you did on a tree of that size. In the way, you did it with the circumstances. Stay safe and keep hammering!
Good job done, like to see people who aren't afraid of hard work, companies nowadays seem to take the path of least resistance and running the cost of the job up,well done chap
Wow, just wow! I mean that was a tremendous amount of work that you made look relatively easy. My back is aching just from watching. Absolute stud level unlocked!
This was incredible. This was already extremely difficult removal but then no little mini skid steer or anything to pick up the wood other then your 2 hands.
That was Surgical 🤙 Seriously that was impeccable work. I know videos hardly show what it was really like. But this footage paints a pretty clear picture. Awesome job

I Respect you…I’m 58 and still climb as well but definitely not with 20 plus pound saws. I’ve had a 50 cc saw on a spar and paid for it the next day.
