I've had family, mainly through marriages and not direct blood ties, and friends, deal with diabetes and yes, it's a serious disease. In my mind, I like to think of "diabeetus" as separate from "diabetes", when making them. But indeed, I would still make these even if I myself were diagnosed with diabetes just because it's fun. If I can make others laugh, my job is done.

I remember grieving the unrelated losses of an uncle and a beloved pet on the same day, and was laying in bed listening to a radio station playing old time radio shows. I happened to be listening to Jack Benny, and before I knew it, I was laughing. It didn't reduce my loss, but it helped me deal with it.

This is such a serious subject and I have had family members with diabetes, this is absolutely awful...... yet I can't help cracking up.
