Follow Andrew White & Ashley Yelds in the 1961 Volvo 122S as they head to 2nd place in Early Classic! Awesome classic engine notes and some great driving!
Speaking as somebody who has ridden in one of these cars you are incomplete as a human until you've done it The Volvo 122 Amazon is one of the greatest cars ever made
+allen dale ...well stated sir!...and in this video, you are seeing a meticulously prepared one, being driven VERY well, and making all of the wonderful sounds it can...vintage Swedish Iron at work...just BRILLIANT!
...an absolute first rate, pro job on the video...nice camera positions and angles, super zooms and pans...the fact that the subject was a beautifully prepared Amazon, being driven very well indeed makes it just a pleasure to watch for us lovers of Sweden Steel! Greets from Connecticut!
Video by Ben and his team at OtherSideProductions. Four cameras set up on each of the six days of the event. We've some In-Car now posted (not as good a quality but gives you an idea of the inside of the windscreen) if you search TH-cam for WorksVolvo (one word)
+RCPro Driver Nothing like the sound of a set of Weber/Mikuni side draft carbs with a 280° duration (or so) high lift cam and a header! I had a similar engine setup (1,998cc) in my 1963 Amazon ten years ago, but with Mikuni PHH 44 side draft carbs and an Iskendarian cam. Man that car was a handful!
Engine specs - built by Gary Comerford - Volpro built for torque. B18 1954cc (class limit), knife-edged crank, polished rods, 11.6:1 comp, twin 45mm webers, 4 into 1 extractors, 105kw at back wheels (175-180hp @ flywheel?) , M40 gearbox, J Type O/d, 4.9:1 LSD Koni shocks developed by Toperformance, King springs, homemade adjustable anti-roll bars, Nissan GTR front calipers, 300mm vent discs, 142 rear discs, see 'volvoadventures' andrewwhite2 for more details -

That's a B18??
Most likely it's a b20.
Drew V yep, B18 with 10% overbore. Runs nice big 45 Webers.
Ashley Yelds Why would anyone do that? Unless there are no B20's to find, that's a waste of time.
