You want to focus more on videos that are practicing technique and in a isolated studio space (no music or editing). Get a feel for how the instrument sounds naturally. The tunes won't be as exciting - but you will get an idea of the key and range. That's more immediately comparable to your own. Then build up from there. As you might imagine a lot of flutists here in China are concert orientated and so less useful for example. As for expensive (vs quality) avoid the very cheap ones. Like the 30 dollars or so ones (just guessing at your conversion). A middle tier one is fine to practice and progress well - and then if you really like it, you'll be able to gauge the cost by looking at the first tier of concert instruments when ready. Which are more evenly built and pre-treated to avoid cracking and so on. It is a great instrument. Very different from other types of flute once you've fully grasped the techniques and musical themes. But you won't get a great sound right away. You probably know that from the first time you try! Spend a lot of time on fundamentals. It's very boring sometimes (well, I like it actually!) but it pays off in the end. Being able to accurately hit your techniques is the difference between a uncertain flute experience and one that you stick with and keep learning.
I recently also bought a dizi because of watching Chinese drama:The Untamed. Many people like me now want to play dizi because of that drama! Becasue the leading character( Wei Wuxian ) plays the flute to control ghosts and to fight of ghosts and evil people. My dizi comes next week, I cannot wait! Do you have any tips for me?
Most of time I prefer low and warm flute tone, therefore I prefer Xiao's sound more than Dizi's one which I found sometimes too high (even not a piccolo one, exception for some songs). Is there any dizi flute with low tone?

Just bought myself a Xiao and am absolutely in love with the sound
I just bought one too. But the sound quality is so poor. Perhaps I need to buy a ,more expensive one.

@Autumn Leaves yes I know but the person Pulsejet Lover said Dizi so I answered on her Dizi comment. Dizi looks different than Xiao
This is not a Dizi, i personally prefer a lot the Xiao's sound, no flute sounds as beautiful as the Xiao as far as i know.
@@KayleJudicator Lol you are correct. I was looking for videos of the Dizi and glossed over the title completely. I love the Xiao as well.
