It's not the FULL process is it now? You've conveniently omitted the part where all the males, after being sorted from the females, are either gassed or dropped into a macerator... oh and the part where all the females have the tips of their beaks cut off with a hot blade!

It is a machine with closely aligned sharp metal blades. Male chicks are tipped into it and they are instantly chopped to pieces.

Becsuse they cannot lay eggs. The breed seen in this video are (egg) layers. The males are not useful. They cannot be used for meat as they have the wrong physique. The meat breed is called broilers and they are different.

I was shocked the chicks were thrown around and tumbled through a machine like nuts and bolts instead of living creatures. Terrible.

If this were how eggs for the dinner table are handled, no problem. but these are living creatures. Whether these chicks end up as laying hens or meat birds, they should be treated HUMANELY. Allowing workers to throw and toss baby chicks and dump them in a turbulent machine like nuts and bolts demoralizes the workers handling them, and subjects the birds to needless distress if not outright injury.
