As a composer myself, I cannot even begin to imagine what it must be like to have such an immensely talented crew perform your music for you! Absolutely amazing! Kudos to these amazing musicians!
I can't tell you how many times I have watched this. The music, timing and synchronisation is simply out of this world. There are some great military bands out there in the world but the Royal Marines sit in a league of their own...followed closely by the Household Division (Bands of the Guards Regiments). Period. No other statement required.
I find only 5% of classical music interests me -- Pictures at an Exhibition; Ride of the Valkyries; Fanfare for the Common Man; Adagio for Strings -- but this firmly seats itself in that top 5%, especially with all the orchestrated drumming movements. Fabulous!
These guys were the reason I took up the sticks. Great Grandad was a Marine at Jutland so always grew up listening to them. Ended up RE but still listen to the RM band pretty much every day. (Weird mix with Slayer etc 😋) Dad getting on a bit with issues so concerts down south aren't possible. Would love to see the band and drum corps in Manchester (or even Liverpool...if I'm feeling brave 😉) What are chances in 2022??
