Disclaimer: As many of you have said in the comments and as stated in the video later on (as well as the description) this game is in pre-alpha and will likely have lore and story later on. As I said in the vid, these are just theories with the title being a staple of the channel, sorry for any confusion on this
one big thing i found out, carnation refers to a type of flower, the "dianthus caryophyllus". From wikipedia, "carnations were mentioned in greek liturature 2000~ years ago, the term dianthus was coined by a greek botanist, and is derived from the ancient greek words for divine"
might be a stretch, but Dozer could also represent other people's judgement. their eyes are judging your every move, waiting for you to make a single mistake. waiting to judge you. and if you do falter, how will you wake up tomorrow, knowing what everyone else now thinks about you?
The “will you wake up tomorrow?” text really disturbed me when I first read it, because it almost feels like a threat to the real person playing the game, not the character being controlled. Our Roblox character doesn’t sleep, but we do, making it feel more real.
It kind of is? That line of text comes from a Bible verse, wherein a rich man goes to sleep, saying he will enjoy his spoils the next day. God calls him a fool, since he will die in his sleep, making his labors meaningless. Basically, do what's important (getting close to God) instead of focusing on physical life. Basically, Dozer keeps you in check, forcing you to slow down and reflect on what is truly important.
@Don_Von Yeah, that’s his true meaning, but what I’m talking about is how I got uncomfortable when I read it, before I actually knew anything about the lore
Yeah, it also really disturbed me too when I first read it because it did feel like a threat to you and not the character you're playing as. It also didn't help that after I was done playing, I was about to go to sleep.
I like the idea that dozer is pride since it's basically his whole mechanic. He demands that you stop whatever you're doing to focus on him and kneel, humbling you while showing his own pride. I'm not sure what relevance his death message "will you wake up tomorrow?" would have in this case, but I still think this theory is the best. Maybe It's talking about how we sort of have this idea that disaster can't strike us because we are the most important (to ourselves), but in truth we aren't some kind of main character and could die at any moment.
i feel like "will you wake up tomorrow?" is both got a double meaning, and got to do with the fact he's literally DOZER as in DOZING OFF and FALLING ASLEEP. maybe it's because that by dozing off you think your sleep/entretainment is more important than whatever you're dozing off to, but idk
I feel like the "Will you wake up tomorrow?" is almost like a threat against brazenness and overconfidence. As if to say "You are alive right now, but will you still be once the sun rises?"
this doesn't really make much sense, but him asking if you'll wake up tomorrow is probably meant to be a threat which scares you, so much you can't stop thinking about it, to the point of not sleeping all night out if fear, which basically means the sentence is ALSO meant to make you think of dozer as something to fear
my personal headcanon is that our character doesn't care that they're put in some sort of trial with deadly entities, and they're just doing it for fun, with banger music in their head. (which is what the person playing irl hears).
Doors: trapped in a hotel with monsters that want to kill you Pressure: trapped deep underwater with monsters that want to kill you Grace: *ZOOOOOOOOOOOM*
I know pressure story but you aren’t actually trapped inside a underwater base you are on a mission on a document file I think and then you actually leave
My dozer theory: he wants us to stop moving and crouch kinda like bowing down/kneeling down to him like he is a sort of king and even his badge m description says “Swallow your ego before he does” shows that dozer thinks he’s like a sort of king or ruler and carnation even fears him and slows downs too
from a theology student’s standpoint, the goatman is a physical representation of hell. according to catholic doctrine, when you die, you get the choice between going to heaven or hell. heaven is a whole other process, with purgatory while waiting for the living to pray for your purification and salvation in order to enter the holy realm, and hell being rejecting god’s love. the fact you can stun it with the flashlight feels like a sort of symbolism for having the choice of going to heaven or hell, but accepting the goatman’s fate would be equivalent to ignoring god’s guidance (the HI:DE.NOW message in the timer) and rejecting his love and entry to heaven. the entire game seems like it’s about the decision to accept god’s love or reject it and enter hell. the hallways could be representations of the player’s internal struggle whether to forgive themselves or not and whether THEY think they should go to heaven or hell, because it’s ultimately up to them to decide whether they deserve salvation or punishment. all the entities could be the player remembering and recalling all of their sins. tl;dr grace feels more of an internal battle with the player and their thoughts and whether they feel they deserve to enter heaven.
@@FIsNotTooShort yes! however purgatory is where you go before heaven, not where you get judged. you kneel there and wait for the living to pray for you to cleanse you of your sins
In the bible, there is Heaven, and Hell. Hell is the place of eternal suffering, it's described as a lake of eternal fire, and also a place of external darkness, where there is suffering and gnashing of teeth. Grace, by definition, is a favour you don't deserve. For example, God's mercy, is something we don't deserve, full stop. The bible says that no one is good, there is not one person that "deserves" to go to heaven. We've all sinned. So grace in this sense is God having mercy on us. He, even though we don't deserve it, shows mercy to us everyday, making the sun rise, the rain come. And much further He shows mercy through the death and ressurection of His Son Jesus Christ. So that anyone that has faith in His Son can receive eternal life. And this is by grace, which means, it's a gift. In other words, through the study of the bible, and consideration of it, through God's grace we are saved from Hell and eternal suffering. Not because we've done anything to deserve to be saved but because God is merciful, and loves us. God is the one that saves us. Human prayers can't save you, only God can. And furthermore, the bible doesn't mention a purgatory. There is the notion of Heaven - A celestial place where the ressurrected saints inhabit, and Hell - A place of eternal suffering for the wicked. Everyone will be judged on the Judgment Day, the bible says that the dead will ressurrect, some to eternal glory and others to eternal despair. Reading the bible and meditatibg on it is the key to not falling into the doctrine and teaching of men. May this remain in all of our minds 🙌
From a Catholic discerning the Priesthood, You've either got the wrong idea of our beliefs on afterlife or just very oversimplified it which I'd totally understand why. It's true to a degree we can choose heaven or hell but that choice is only while your physically alive, as once one has died they're soul is separated from the body, motivation for changing one's actions is rooted in the body, and there is no longer any passion that can distract the soul, thus one who has died cannot change their sins and possible disbelief in God. Purgatory is reserved for those who souls are already saved, so they WILL make it to heaven eventually but people go their because even if they were believers in Christ (non-believers go to hell because of blasphemy of the Holy Ghost which is unforgivable), for whatever reason they didn't repent of sin "x", heaven is God's dwelling place and is wholly holy and perfect so one who hasn't repented of sin "x" is stained and therefore cannot enter heaven. But God in his immeasurable grace gives us a solution, Purgatory. As is commonly mistaken to be, Purgatory is not a waiting place for the soul, it is a place of purification of one's sins and acknowledging them and repent of them, whilst there they go through trials and essentially the same punishment of hell to understand the consequence of sin "x" and thus ask for repent and by the sacrifice of Jesus be forgiven and cleaned and finally allowed into heaven. the idea of praying for those in purgatory that you mentioned is pretty spot on, we as the living can for ourselves and other acquire something called an indulgence which is a gift from God's grace that lightens the burden of sanctification, the process of removing concupiscence, or personal attachments to sin. So praying for those in purgatory might help more quickly for someone to be released from their attachment to sin "x" (something I forgot to mention though is that it isn't a requirement for people to pray for those in purgatory for them to finally be released from their attachments to sin). But to the game, I think it really does reveal super amazingly the Catholic doctrine on purgatory and how a person faces the trails and torments for their sins. How by trying to stay on the path that God says to follow you can be cleansed but its not without hardship which says a lot about our current state too. I like your idea and agree but personally I think it can go deeper that the game shows us the great lengths and trails we will go through in purgatory unless we in follow God's word presently and therefore not going to purgatory in the first place but abiding in God's love and plan and yet the great challenge of doing so as we can see the character in the game not only goes to purgatory but also has many sins to atone for, showing he was a believer in God and maybe was trying to follow Him but for whatever reason failed many many times as lots of people do but making the tragic mistake of either continuing to do it or simply not having acknowledged it and not gone to confession to be forgiven (so thankful i get to go to confession tomorrow now haha). This might then be a deterrence but also a little poke to 1) Follow God and 2) confess your sins to Him and/through a priest to be cleaned in the precious Blood of the Lamb, our Lord Jesus Christ! (side note: I am Catholic and going to join the Priesthood but I have no qualification in Theology or Philosophy yet so there might be a few errors but I doubt it.) God bless and let us rejoice over the Birth of our Lord as of soon!
Fun fact, the left eye usually represents the past while the right eye represents the future which is why when you look at the white eye, it blinds you in the left side like how you should stop looking at the past while you must stare at the red eye like how you must look into the future which is why it blinds you in the right side for not looking at it (note: not sure if Im right or wrong, it's based off something I heard)
Personally, Dozer's message of 'Will you Wake up Tommorrow?' feels more like a question, like whether you will wake up from your coma of greed tommorrow, wake up from your trance and finally realise that you've been bad It's like asking when the player will finally repent for their sins, hence you kneeling, maybe the kneeling is you repenting. Smiley faces are usually interpreted to happiness, AKA what you were before you realised you were bad, or interpreted to insanity, AKA possible what you might be becoming if you don't repent, and his smile looks more insane when you fail his minigame.
I have a theory that the ‘player’ was once a king. Three of the entities represent 3 of the deadly sins that also tie to royalty. Those being pride, greed, and gluttony. Pride being the fame of the player that they wanted, greed being what the player wants and forever got, and gluttony, being never giving.
if the elkman is a fallen angel then i think elkman could be placed as a reminder of what will become of you if you don't follow god. "You can always try again. I gave you free will, although it's probably in your best interest to do so, *better to suffer while you're still alive, and not for eternity after.* "
True, TRUE People often don't realize that there is only ONE thing stopping every single one of us from dropping straight down to hell right this moment and that's GOD, if He takes away His hand, His GRACE, we're as good as dead, even worse actually So just, follow Him, accept the Grace for there is no evil, only Grace
@@brunopagnoncelli975yeah! He’s the one that bound our universe together, he’s the one who holds it all upright, without him it would all decay, it is pure grace and a gift that he doesn’t let that happen
9:00 I personally think that Sorrow is a representation of the sin of Lust, as the crushing storm is reminiscent of the second circle of hell in Dante’s Inferno where the “lustful” are punished by a “hurricane that never ends”. This would fit into the possible character lore and why the entity is called Sorrow specifically; because the character presumably spent their life dominated by lust, never staying in one place for too long, they may lament over not having formed any meaningful or lasting relationships. That same feeling is also the key to surviving Sorrow: by learning that it’s okay to stay in the protection of one place from time to time, that sometimes they have to sit and cry on their path of self-redemption instead of always inching along, the character can change for the better - as long as they don’t let said Sorrow consume them.
Nah m8, thank you for making your video on it! it was great and was very insightful on the theories for the game, as well as the meaning for the carnation!
Another thing i want to mention is that, elkman could represent a fallen weeping angel, a weeping angel only follows you when you dont see it and the elkman only leaves when your out of its sight
its cool that new games and Roblox games are using christiantity to make a awesome story, it has so much more impact and deepness, its so weird but i'm glad that games are doing this
Yes like other stuff(in gonna include hell too despite it not being part of the Christianity deeds)like Hazbin Hotel, The Seven deadly sin anime, Helluva boss, Grace, Dandy Inferno(a dandy world au on TikTok), Harry in Hell(by a artist but idk who), and Satany(that one female Satan series) Edit:it’s actually Satina Edit 2:there’s also assassin creed, the binding of isaac, and Halo
1:41 Personally i believe the star at the beginning could be a representation of “the star of Bethlehem” because the star of Bethlehem is gods guidance, or divine guidance. In grace it points towards the starting door “guiding” you where you need to go. (Edit): some thoughts after the test realm release (take with a large grain of salt): First: i think littany has some interesting implications. I think it could be viewed two different ways. First i think littany could represent the judgment of a crowd or higher beings that being shown by its many eyes, along with the fact that your supposed to keep your head down and acting against that gets you killed. The other idea (which i think is kind of a stretch) is that littany could be representing a breakdown of some sorts most likely mentally, feeling like you being watched. The only thing i think could support that is the death scene just repeating “why did you listen” almost as if something is speaking to us in our head. Currently the only idea i have for doppel is that it represents regret , grief, or guilt as it typically follows close behind you and has serious mental effects on people. Kind of like how doppel always follows you and if it catches up messes with your vision and controls.
9:19 I think that the reason why he is pride is because to survive him, you need to step down. This action can be interpreted at being humble or respecting another, especially when his badge says “Swallow your pride or he will” because some people are too prideful to show respect and etc. By not “Swallowing your pride” Dozer ends you which is an obvious symbol for pride leading to downfall.
Finnaly! Someone thinks that dozer is pride, at Dantes Aligheris Divine Comdey(Purgatoria): the people at stage of ''pride'' forced to carry really heavy boulders since boulders are too heavy people had to CROUCH and WAIT for a while to get rest and then continue the process.
It should be noted on the paper for slight, that the bad example has one of his eyes covered by slight after looking at them. The little shadow (of light) on the side of ur screen is supposed to represent what eye he has covered, which could be bad if he covered the left one as it means you can no longer tell how much time you have left
A thing I noticed while doing tomfoolery on the lobby. If you glitch your camera on the floor, you will be able to see a tree(possibly the tree of life?)under the ocean on the lobby.
dude… havent watched your vids i a while and you got a MASSIVE glow up. this video was very well-composed and your voice was very clear and easy to listen to
The idea of each entity being a deadly sin has always been stuck with me. This also excludes the names of the entity having a connection While the explinations are wack, I still see potential it holds Carnation - The very first sin, Temptation (not a deadly sin, but it works for now) Slight - Envy, Envy is Jealousy or the feeling of wanting someone's items or life For Slight, by not looking at it, You're not envious towards it. Slugfish - Greed, Greed is wanting or hoarding alot, By not moving foward and waiting for Slugfish to past, you're not greedy to move foward Elkman - Lust, Lust is uncontrollable love for someone. By peeking and hiding behind a wall, you're proving that you aren't interested in Elkman (who would) Heed - Wrath(?), Wrath is extreme hatred for someone. Not the best for Heed since you have to look at Heed. Could say that by looking at Heed, you're confronting it by not immediatly being Wrathful to it (?) Sorrow - Gluttony, Gluttony is overconsumtion. For Sorrow, by hiding under walls away from Sorrow, is like avoiding the blood rain, which could be symbolising unhealthy drinks. Dozer - Pride (obv), Pride is thinking oneself's is the best and uncomparable. Explained in the video very well Goatman - Sloth, Sloth is being lazy and slow. If you go too slow in the game, Goatman will appear and chase you down, you can "procastrinate" by flashing ir away, but at some point, it'll get you. This isn't all that serious, just smth I came up for fun :p
One funny thing I noticed about slugfish is that you only get consumed by it if you are too greedy with your progress and aren't patient, furthermore representing greedyness and gluttony (my first language isn't English)
My theory is that with the flashlight you just have to point at goatman, then he goes back and try’s to go for you from a different spot, I think this might mean that like the flashlight might be the genesis’s (genesis is the eye dude when u die) tool for fighting the devil so you can follow his path 12:06
This was taken from the wiki, but lore wise, when heed or slight attacks you, they replace the players eyes. The first attack you wouldn’t die because it replaces one of your eyes. This is why half of your screen is somewhat blinded. The next attack, both eyes are replaced, and the player dies.
A thing i noticed on grace: In the floor of the lobby there's earth covered in something, the sun, and a triangle with a eye and a crown possibly representing God
considering how the game takes inspiration from the bible and christian beliefs, it represents a connection between earth (humans) and the God through a cross what does this have to do with the game? idrk lol
Guides in games be like: Doors: lights that just say things that you know Pressure: a pretty big sarcarstic fish that yells and laught at you. Rooms: *image* Grace: a yapidy yap yap yaper yapanese eye that says THE SAME THING all the time you die
Goatman is probably less dealt in the field of temptation, but a separate entity from the seven sin as Goatman is thought of as a Guardian which is vengeful to those on his territory. The timer potentially is a gift from god that keeps the Goatman at bay from attacking or smth like that.
5:28 i feel like it represents straying away from god's intended path, but the fact it gives you a second chance though means, as in the bible, god is forgiving
I honestly think that heed is the players embodiment of pride. The meaning of pride is “a feeling of deep pleasure or satisfaction derived from one's own achievements, the achievements of those with whom one is closely associated, or from qualities or possessions that are widely admired.” Heed symbolises that perfectly. Not only you have to stare at him, (which rings bells about pride in my mind) he doesn’t disappear unless you go through the door. So, in my case, the player is a sinner. But, like in the games name, he is special to god himself. God thinks the player has true potential to be an enlightenment to people in the hands of the devil, or Satan (goatman) That’s just my theory.
i think there being seven main threats and the goatman also links to the seven sins, as while dozer mentions ego, (pride) slugfish mentions greed, and a lot of them fit with the other sins, such as heed being envy as he is jealous of you looking at anything else, and sorrow being wrath as it is one of the more geniunely strong, powerful feeling enemies, not to mention how it is hard to escape. i think that dozer could be either sloth or pride, but the entities can represent the sin in both ways, like how slugfish represents greed, as if you are too greedy in carrying on depsite the warning you will die, but he is also greedy, as slugfish himself physically eats you. dozer is sloth as he is asleep but also so are you, as you must stop and rest. carnation might be lust due to the symbolisms of the colour pink and flowers, and how you lust for a hiding spot. they are such well made monsters as they all have many meanings that all tie in together, truly an amazing game. in terms of sins, goatman is probably the hardest to define....
As a christian, this game looks super cool! I never knew about the story until then, but its awesome that we have bible representation in games :) Kudos to the devs!
12:00 I was raised in a Christian household and this stood out to me, a priest once said one can resist temptation for a time, though even the strongest of wills will eventually fall to it, as no mortal can hope to defeat satan in a battle of attrition. Though through removing that sin, you may free yourself of it. An example of this could be if you wanted to stop using your phone at certain times, rather than simply trying not to, you'd lock it in a timed safe only to open at the end of the time in question.
I like to think that all the enemies are demons 1-7 and are there to represent the seven deadly sins, attempting to prevent the player from obtaining God's grace. The goatman could be a representation of Saten, hence the goat.
I honestly had some sort of an idea of how god was just simply telling you that you'll meet god but then u realized that there's no such thing of an ending or the end of this whole trial test chamber Im not sure if the devs r gonna add an ending to this game but i would love having an idea of where god tells you that in order to cleanse ur sins by going through this trial test and meet god in order to give urself a clear list of all of ur past sin have been forgiven Meaning that our player expected and feel desperate to have their sins to be forgive by god but then u realized that the player doesn't know over the fact that this whole trial chamber was pretty much a enteral torture And there is not such thing as facing or meeting god But again like i said earlier bout whether if the devs would add an eding to this game or the concept of just eternal torture of u going through room to room is their intentional concept and idea for this :,D (Also i loveee the deep lore vids that u get in deep and having theories bout it
My personal theory is that the player is actually getting punished by devil himself for his sins , but he keeps on going since he thinks he is going to reach god someday , wich is all smoke and mirrors . That would explain why the game is endless and why we never actually see the end of it .
the endlessness most likely comes from the fact that the game is in pre alpha, so the ending might just not be finished. However, your theory might still work lol. Considering that there are "personal hells" in media and that the devil is an extremely sly being, this all could be an illusion to make the player's suffering endless, by making you believe that it will end some day.
There are two new monsters added in the game. Doppel and Litany. I’m guessing Doppel is suppose to represent the player and how they are their biggest enemy. I’m not sure about Litany though.
Hi again! btw Nice animation style bro. (why is it when i see your channel 6 months later ill see your channel again) Also I think grace takes place in Limbo and deal with our sins [damn like the theory of doors]
I thought you were a hobo who is cracked out of their mind who got kicked out of a garbage disposal disguised as a homeless shelter and you gotta run through the pits of New York for revenge.
I personally believe that Dozer is sloth, mainly due to the "will you wake up tomorrow?" text. which could represent sloth because sloth is the reluctance to make an effort, so laziness. When people have a job to be done some of them would just say, "I will do it tomorrow", which could be them not making an effort and being lazy which is sloth, and i think that the text "will you wake up tomorrow?" could be saying, "will you put in the effort to wake up?" to overcome sloth just a thought
Based Ancestor narration. Also, awesome video. I haven't watched it all yet, so forgive me if you mentioned this, but in the lobby there's a mural on the ground depicting Genesis as a massive triangle. Of course, anyone who knows about religion would probably link this to the Holy Trinity, three things that represent the individual, but whole, parts of God. The mural also depicts Genesis wearing a crown, and seemingly having a halo. Unfortunately, the mural also also depicts Genesis seemingly freezing, or covering, Earth with ice or something similar. So while Genesis could be God, there's also a possibility that Genesis is something pretending to be God. I mean, the whole game is supposedly "leading" to them, so what if it's just leading us deeper until we can't escape Genesis? Honestly, I think it'd be super interesting if this was something else pretending to be God. I mean, Dozer is literally inspired by the Mandela Catalogue, which sort of does exactly that.
on or off topic - the seven deadly sins represent some of these entities 1- goatman represents sloth 2- dozer and heed is pride 3- carnation and elkman is lust (Chases after you, adapts to your speed after 2 vaults) and (Sinful thoughts against people melts you to be worser than others) 4- sorrow is wrath ( the shaking on your screen plus the blood raining expresses that more) 5- slight is envy (think about it, it looks at you but you cant look at it) 6- slugfish is Gluttony+Greed (It doesn't wait for you, as about in 1-5 seconds itll rush towards you) + (Consumes everything in its path except the map) 7- genesis (which is the one who is on your death screen) is wrath and might be greed too, even if it doesnt seem like wrath, to simply put it, it created an entire place just for us with creatures that kill us if we do the wrong thing and it set an infinite mount of doors. Even if it seems like discipline then why not express more with words extra notes - dozer teachs you to heel before someone thats better than you, sorrow teaches you to never commit any crimes that take one out or another as a grave-ish sfx is played before it releases its wrath carnation is to be hasty to never let your sinful thoughts to go through elkman is representing also doing the same except less stressful heed is to pay attention to stuff (like rules) etc.
Bro, one day someone at the lobby said: “Oh in this games lore, Seek falls in love with us, and puts us in his pocket dimension, and trains us to run faster than him. In one of his dialogues he says “I love you, do you love me?” Proving his love to us, also, carnation is uninfected rush, slight and heed are uninfected eyes and dozer is uninfected a-90” and I was like 💀
"will you wake up tomorrow?" is a statement of temporariness, it's keeping you in check, because you can never guarantee if you will wake up tomorrow, you could die at any second, so dont get too reliant on the future because at any moment, everything could be taken away, everything is temporary, who are you to know if you will wake up tomorrow?
I think the reason why dozer is considered sloth is because I think his eyes being closed is supposed to represent that he is sleeping and that your movements wake him up. The message "Will you wake up tommorow?" could also refer to sloth in a way that means that you wont have the courage to wake up again and will remain lazy and slothful just like he is. He forces you to rest and give up precious time, just like the sin of sloth. It keeps you in a chokehold and makes you waste your time, until you lose your motivation to ever wake up again. The message from the badge which says "Swallow your ego or it will" can actually mean to give into sloth, that you should give up your motivations and let it consume you. Otherwise, sloth will consume you anyways when given the chance. The game itself is encouraging you to lose, just like dozer is. Its not a warning out of good will. Sloth also gives the illusion of paradise without worry, like dozers design being like the sun. He looks innocent at first glance, like just offering you to take a rest for your sore legs but once its true nature is revealed, it becomes evident that his role is to make you rest forever and never reach salvation. Pride also makes a lot of sense for dozer but considering he is literally called dozer and it was said in the video he is considered sloth, I decided to explain it a bit.
personally i like to think that the "will you wake up tomorrow?" death message is a reference to that your power, fortune and overall ego doesn't matter cause it will be all gone when you die.
the one gameplay-wise thing you got wrong is that elkman doesn't kill you on touch, he's just there. you actually get a badge by dapping him up, and more often than not you can ignore him completely and run right past into the next room
at 7:50 the elkman is said to not have eyes and is stated when you get the badge for surviving elkman because the name of the badge is just 'Yet it has no eyes'
I agree with your points about dozer, though in my opinion, I feel like it's also leans a bit into the sin of "sloth" the name of "dozer" might mean something like dozing off and the phrase "Will you wake up tomorrow?" probably means something like "Are you gonna wake up, be motivated and get things done? Or are you gonna be a lazy ass for the rest of your life?" I know it doesn't make sense, but it is just what I think lol
My theory is that us the player is stuck in some sort of purgatory trapped forever to be tormented by these demons but that eye when we die is some sort of angel probably because of the cross we see as the thumbnail for the game
I like your theory for dozer, I mean, it serves as an ego-check entity. If you think that, just maybe you can move just a few more tiles forward or maybe get to the door- but then it stops as you have been caught red-handed by dozer.
I would also explain flashlight and lantern as 2 ways of living: in the moment and far-sighted. Lantern lets you see details, hiding spots, levers - solutions for constant problems, but you cant predict what is coming up soon,, and flashlight shows you upcoming problems so you can prepare for it, but you dont see the whole picture.
I think it's just a little funny though that the game currently is endless, it could resemble that the path in-game is only a small bit of the larger path, which is the one we take in our own life, outside of the game. It could also resemble the idea that god is unreachable, and yet even though he is, some humans still keep trying to reach his grace.
I believe that Elkman could also be a representation of us hiding our sins/mistakes from others, basically trying to show ourselves as great people while hiding our faults
this video is incredible and shows a side of grace lore that seems even more fleshed out then the last, but there is something that i would like to mention. but since in already wrote down this comment in superdeplux's vid ill just copy it down below. i think something else that can tie this theory with a well deserved knot is that in the games description it is stated that it takes inspiration from the bible, meaning it does have religious connections. there is also a portrayal of some entety in the floor plates of the spawn, which seems to be the same eye but this time beeing part of a much larger beeing, having the EYE OF PROVIDENCE as its head. "The Eye of Providence or All-Seeing Eye is a symbol depicting an eye, often enclosed in a triangle and surrounded by rays of light or a halo, intended to represent Providence, as the eye watches over the workers of mankind.[1][2][3] A well-known example of the Eye of Providence appears on the reverse of the Great Seal of the United States, which is depicted on the United States one-dollar bill." ~Wikipedia~ this may show that it is in fact god looking over the player. the word Providence also aligns with this. "In theology, divine providence, or simply providence, is God's intervention in the Universe. The term Divine Providence (usually capitalized) is also used as a title of God." ~Wikipedia~ so the fact that the eye of providence is present in the game and the eye we see when dying seems to represent god, then the game itself is providence, as god interveings on our destiny to give us another chance at redemption before the devil takes our soul.
Disclaimer:
As many of you have said in the comments and as stated in the video later on (as well as the description) this game is in pre-alpha and will likely have lore and story later on. As I said in the vid, these are just theories with the title being a staple of the channel, sorry for any confusion on this
Ok
Ok
Tbh I thought you were gonna say sloth for goatman but that's better
6:05 and 9:32 ... LIMBUS COMPANY MENTIONED???
one big thing i found out, carnation refers to a type of flower, the "dianthus caryophyllus".
Wait this is actually creative
Amazing way of putting it
That’s an actual interesting though hm
The “will you wake up tomorrow?” text really disturbed me when I first read it, because it almost feels like a threat to the real person playing the game, not the character being controlled. Our Roblox character doesn’t sleep, but we do, making it feel more real.
oh i see now, that is making me distraught..
It also didn't help that after I was done playing, I was about to go to sleep.
dang thats terrifying
The first one, Dozer is like A-90. A-90 was created first of it's type. I mean that A-90's idea is the first idea to create a stopping monster
@@5upertnt_ng73This makes it more likely that dozer is sloth
my personal headcanon is that our character doesn't care that they're put in some sort of trial with deadly entities, and they're just doing it for fun, with banger music in their head. (which is what the person playing irl hears).

My dozer theory: he wants us to stop moving and crouch kinda like bowing down/kneeling down to him like he is a sort of king and even his badge m description says “Swallow your ego before he does” shows that dozer thinks he’s like a sort of king or ruler and carnation even fears him and slows downs too
For the Carnation part, it's probably due to game design.
@NoobletTheUnskilledcould be both
Also in the paper for Dozer you can see the stick figure looking like they are kneeling by Dozer aswell.
Carnation actually completely stops when Dozer shows up
Is that why I keep getting a glitch where it makes me crouch and I die to the eye
from a theology student’s standpoint, the goatman is a physical representation of hell. according to catholic doctrine, when you die, you get the choice between going to heaven or hell. heaven is a whole other process, with purgatory while waiting for the living to pray for your purification and salvation in order to enter the holy realm, and hell being rejecting god’s love. the fact you can stun it with the flashlight feels like a sort of symbolism for having the choice of going to heaven or hell, but accepting the goatman’s fate would be equivalent to ignoring god’s guidance (the HI:DE.NOW message in the timer) and rejecting his love and entry to heaven. the entire game seems like it’s about the decision to accept god’s love or reject it and enter hell.
the hallways could be representations of the player’s internal struggle whether to forgive themselves or not and whether THEY think they should go to heaven or hell, because it’s ultimately up to them to decide whether they deserve salvation or punishment. all the entities could be the player remembering and recalling all of their sins.
tl;dr grace feels more of an internal battle with the player and their thoughts and whether they feel they deserve to enter heaven.
Random question is purgatory still an accepted thing in catholic?
Amen brotha, God is Good@@superplaylists1616
(side note: I am Catholic and going to join the Priesthood but I have no qualification in Theology or Philosophy yet so there might be a few errors but I doubt it.)
God bless and let us rejoice over the Birth of our Lord as of soon!
The Eye Facing the Fear, Breaking the Cycle
The Eye Facing the Past, Building the Future
Personally, Dozer's message of 'Will you Wake up Tommorrow?' feels more like a question, like whether you will wake up from your coma of greed tommorrow, wake up from your trance and finally realise that you've been bad
It's like asking when the player will finally repent for their sins, hence you kneeling, maybe the kneeling is you repenting.
Pride being the fame of the player that they wanted, greed being what the player wants and forever got, and gluttony, being never giving.
and then the king started speedrunning his personal hell
King of england
So he's talking about dozer and slugfish?
this truly is a DESTROY! YOU CAN'T ESCAPE! BE GONE! moment
if the elkman is a fallen angel then i think elkman could be placed as a reminder of what will become of you if you don't follow god. "You can always try again. I gave you free will, although it's probably in your best interest to do so, *better to suffer while you're still alive, and not for eternity after.* "
True, TRUE
People often don't realize that there is only ONE thing stopping every single one of us from dropping straight down to hell right this moment and that's GOD, if He takes away His hand, His GRACE, we're as good as dead, even worse actually
So just, follow Him, accept the Grace for there is no evil, only Grace

Edit 2:there’s also assassin creed, the binding of isaac, and Halo
there's also nikke, using christianity as inspiration
the anime is called dantes inferno and you forgot ultrakill
reminds me of when someone said Jesus would literally be the perfect support/healer
This game has about two kinds of thoughts
"What does this all mean? What is my purpose here?"
*"Bro how do I hit Mach 3?"*
1:41 Personally i believe the star at the beginning could be a representation of “the star of Bethlehem” because the star of Bethlehem is gods guidance, or divine guidance. In grace it points towards the starting door “guiding” you where you need to go.
(Edit): some thoughts after the test realm release (take with a large grain of salt):
First: i think littany has some interesting implications.
Wait that makes alot of sense actually
9:19 I think that the reason why he is pride is because to survive him, you need to step down. This action can be interpreted at being humble or respecting another, especially when his badge says “Swallow your pride or he will” because some people are too prideful to show respect and etc. By not “Swallowing your pride” Dozer ends you which is an obvious symbol for pride leading to downfall.

It should be noted on the paper for slight, that the bad example has one of his eyes covered by slight after looking at them. The little shadow (of light) on the side of ur screen is supposed to represent what eye he has covered, which could be bad if he covered the left one as it means you can no longer tell how much time you have left
heed too
Heed covers the right eye.
A thing I noticed while doing tomfoolery on the lobby.
If you glitch your camera on the floor, you will be able to see a tree(possibly the tree of life?)under the ocean on the lobby.
Maybe the lobby’s the Garden of Eden after the first sin and we get to see the Tree of Life and Death
@nort. oooo! Interesting thought!
Fun fact: If you use the pizza tower timer you get to see the goatman sleeping and also see his model a bit better
one thing that kind of annoys me is that if you read the descriptions of the badges, you'd know that the elkman is stated to not have any eyes

7:56 The game states in the achievment that it does not have eyes so yeah.
"HEY GOD, IMA RUN THROUGH HELL AND IF I MAKE IT, I GO TO HEAVEN NO MATTER WHAT!"
-our character most likely
My friend also noticed that the carnation badge has a snake on it, so I definitely agree with the apple theory you’ve got going on.
The idea of each entity being a deadly sin has always been stuck with me. This also excludes the names of the entity having a connection
While the explinations are wack, I still see potential it holds
Carnation - The very first sin, Temptation (not a deadly sin, but it works for now)
Slight - Envy, Envy is Jealousy or the feeling of wanting someone's items or life
For Slight, by not looking at it, You're not envious towards it.
Slugfish - Greed, Greed is wanting or hoarding alot, By not moving foward and waiting for Slugfish to past, you're not greedy to move foward
Elkman - Lust, Lust is uncontrollable love for someone. By peeking and hiding behind a wall, you're proving that you aren't interested in Elkman (who would)
Heed - Wrath(?), Wrath is extreme hatred for someone. Not the best for Heed since you have to look at Heed. Could say that by looking at Heed, you're confronting it by not immediatly being Wrathful to it (?)
Sorrow - Gluttony, Gluttony is overconsumtion. For Sorrow, by hiding under walls away from Sorrow, is like avoiding the blood rain, which could be symbolising unhealthy drinks.
Dozer - Pride (obv), Pride is thinking oneself's is the best and uncomparable. Explained in the video very well
Goatman - Sloth, Sloth is being lazy and slow. If you go too slow in the game, Goatman will appear and chase you down, you can "procastrinate" by flashing ir away, but at some point, it'll get you.
This isn't all that serious, just smth I came up for fun :p
fancy HATman always doing TOP work for his videos, keep going KING
i get it
One funny thing I noticed about slugfish is that you only get consumed by it if you are too greedy with your progress and aren't patient, furthermore representing greedyness and gluttony (my first language isn't English)
A thing i noticed on grace:
In the floor of the lobby there's earth covered in something, the sun, and a triangle with a eye and a crown possibly representing God
GASP HOW DID I NOT KNOW
considering how the game takes inspiration from the bible and christian beliefs, it represents a connection between earth (humans) and the God through a cross
what does this have to do with the game? idrk lol
Guides in games be like:
Doors: lights that just say things that you know
Pressure: a pretty big sarcarstic fish that yells and laught at you.
Rooms: *image*
Grace: a yapidy yap yap yaper yapanese eye that says THE SAME THING all the time you die
So basically..
Doors: Biblically accurate edition
I think slight could mean greed in a sense. Us humans are drawn to power or "good stuff", so we have to resist and look away
7:49 THAT'S ELKMAN'S MOUTH!
We must’ve done some pretty epic sins to end up in this place
Also, Elkman is introduced with the Slugfish at the third timer room.
As a christian, this game looks super cool! I never knew about the story until then, but its awesome that we have bible representation in games :)
Kudos to the devs!
6:41 is partially incorrect, its not HEED and Elkman, its Slugfish and Elkman, THEN Heed.
I honestly had some sort of an idea of how god was just simply telling you that you'll meet god but then u realized that there's no such thing of an ending or the end of this whole trial test chamber
Im not sure if the devs r gonna add an ending to this game but i would love having an idea of where god tells you that in order to cleanse ur sins by going through this trial test and meet god in order to give urself a clear list of all of ur past sin have been forgiven
Meaning that our player expected and feel desperate to have their sins to be forgive by god but then u realized that the player doesn't know over the fact that this whole trial chamber was pretty much a enteral torture
And there is not such thing as facing or meeting god
But again like i said earlier bout whether if the devs would add an eding to this game or the concept of just eternal torture of u going through room to room is their intentional concept and idea for this

The start of the video genuinely looks like a trailer, great job with the video!

I personally believe that Dozer is sloth, mainly due to the "will you wake up tomorrow?" text. which could represent sloth because sloth is the reluctance to make an effort, so laziness. When people have a job to be done some of them would just say, "I will do it tomorrow", which could be them not making an effort and being lazy which is sloth, and i think that the text "will you wake up tomorrow?" could be saying, "will you put in the effort to wake up?" to overcome sloth

I mean, Dozer is literally inspired by the Mandela Catalogue, which sort of does exactly that.
on or off topic - the seven deadly sins represent some of these entities
1- goatman represents sloth
2- dozer and heed is pride
3- carnation and elkman is lust (Chases after you, adapts to your speed after 2 vaults) and (Sinful thoughts against people melts you to be worser than others)
4- sorrow is wrath ( the shaking on your screen plus the blood raining expresses that more)
5- slight is envy (think about it, it looks at you but you cant look at it)
6- slugfish is Gluttony+Greed (It doesn't wait for you, as about in 1-5 seconds itll rush towards you) + (Consumes everything in its path except the map)
7- genesis (which is the one who is on your death screen) is wrath and might be greed too, even if it doesnt seem like wrath, to simply put it, it created an entire place just for us with creatures that kill us if we do the wrong thing and it set an infinite mount of doors. Even if it seems like discipline then why not express more with words
extra notes - dozer teachs you to heel before someone thats better than you,
sorrow teaches you to never commit any crimes that take one out or another as a grave-ish sfx is played before it releases its wrath
carnation is to be hasty to never let your sinful thoughts to go through
elkman is representing also doing the same except less stressful
heed is to pay attention to stuff (like rules) etc.
Bro, one day someone at the lobby said: “Oh in this games lore, Seek falls in love with us, and puts us in his pocket dimension, and trains us to run faster than him. In one of his dialogues he says “I love you, do you love me?” Proving his love to us, also, carnation is uninfected rush, slight and heed are uninfected eyes and dozer is uninfected a-90” and I was like 💀
Yandere Seek
dozer when you stop and crouch: *i sleep*
dozer when you move 1 nanometer: *REAL SHIT*
same logic applies to many games that include a "don't move" type enemy
Pride also makes a lot of sense for dozer but considering he is literally called dozer and it was said in the video he is considered sloth, I decided to explain it a bit.
oh it's the pillar chase 2 guy
personally i like to think that the "will you wake up tomorrow?" death message is a reference to that your power, fortune and overall ego doesn't matter cause it will be all gone when you die.
7:17 care to explain the background? 😰😰
Funne
@@TophatKing306found!!!!!
doors on crack (grace) lore explained
Crouching at Dozer is like lowering your head to something so its like giving up your ego
the one gameplay-wise thing you got wrong is that elkman doesn't kill you on touch, he's just there. you actually get a badge by dapping him up, and more often than not you can ignore him completely and run right past into the next room
at 7:50 the elkman is said to not have eyes and is stated when you get the badge for surviving elkman because the name of the badge is just 'Yet it has no eyes'
I agree with your points about dozer, though in my opinion, I feel like it's also leans a bit into the sin of "sloth"
the name of "dozer" might mean something like dozing off
and the phrase "Will you wake up tomorrow?" probably means something like
"Are you gonna wake up, be motivated and get things done? Or are you gonna be a lazy ass for the rest of your life?"
I know it doesn't make sense, but it is just what I think lol
My theory is that us the player is stuck in some sort of purgatory trapped forever to be tormented by these demons but that eye when we die is some sort of angel probably because of the cross we see as the thumbnail for the game
5:49 i thought slugfish was the blackest worm and biggest worm in existence😂
Developers says even the lore can change tho
the darkest dungeon narrator quotes are an amazing addition to this video
I like your theory for dozer, I mean, it serves as an ego-check entity. If you think that, just maybe you can move just a few more tiles forward or maybe get to the door- but then it stops as you have been caught red-handed by dozer.
2:36 Carnation 4:32 Slight 5:45 Slugfish 6:48 Heed and Elkman 8:54 Sorrow and Dozer 10:46 The Goatman
I love this theory!! But I also think that all of these, aside from the goatman, are angels. Just straight up.
theres actually 8 entities:
1carnation
2goatman
3slight
4slugfish
5elkman
6heed
7dozer
8sorrow
I see slight and heed as two sides of a coin.
the anxietys you must ignore to keep going on and the anxietys/fears you must face to move on
I believe that Elkman could also be a representation of us hiding our sins/mistakes from others, basically trying to show ourselves as great people while hiding our faults
this video is incredible and shows a side of grace lore that seems even more fleshed out then the last, but there is something that i would like to mention. but since in already wrote down this comment in superdeplux's vid ill just copy it down below.
i think something else that can tie this theory with a well deserved knot is that in the games description it is stated that it takes inspiration from the bible, meaning it does have religious connections. there is also a portrayal of some entety in the floor plates of the spawn, which seems to be the same eye but this time beeing part of a much larger beeing, having the EYE OF PROVIDENCE as its head.
"The Eye of Providence or All-Seeing Eye is a symbol depicting an eye, often enclosed in a triangle and surrounded by rays of light or a halo, intended to represent Providence, as the eye watches over the workers of mankind.[1][2][3] A well-known example of the Eye of Providence appears on the reverse of the Great Seal of the United States, which is depicted on the United States one-dollar bill." ~Wikipedia~
this may show that it is in fact god looking over the player. the word Providence also aligns with this.
"In theology, divine providence, or simply providence, is God's intervention in the Universe. The term Divine Providence (usually capitalized) is also used as a title of God." ~Wikipedia~
so the fact that the eye of providence is present in the game and the eye we see when dying seems to represent god, then the game itself is providence, as god interveings on our destiny to give us another chance at redemption before the devil takes our soul.
"It's Gracing time!"
And start Gracing all over the place.
