It's a big improvement over the old car, particularly in the way it drives, although some features I remember from the pre-facelift previous generation car seem to have been removed. Thank you very much indeed for watching and commenting!
That was impressive Joseph we are currently in the path of a Cat 4 Hurricane approching Florida it's a monster 400 miles wide we expect it here tomorrow so depending on it's I might not be online tomorrow so if you don't see I watched anything I will be back Saturday all being well have a great weekend Joseph best regards Andy Allen.
@@lloydvehicleconsulting Thank you Joseph we should be Ok it seems to be tracking Eastwards which is good for us not so much for Florida where mass evacuations are in progress with a surge of 18 to 20 feet of water which in some parts would be unsurvivable say a prayer for them it you can thank you Andy Allen
I got one of these on Tuesday this week (non hybrid version) It’s really comfy, loads of space, well specced & drives reasonably well. However the constant bings & bongs are absolutely horrendous & I would argue they are actually an unsafe distraction! Fortunately I’m now starting to get into the habit of switching them all off at every start up. On top of no pan roof the lack of ambient lighting is also disappointing. Overall I like it but I just don’t think I’m ever going to love it, time will tell.
Yes, no sunroof or ambient lighting on this occasion. I think you could see from the brief drive I wondered why the bongs had gone off myself... The driving experience is much improved over the old car, that is the thing I noticed the most, and I think the styling is better. I don't know if it is perfect, though.
I drove the BYD Seal U plug in and while it had a panoramic roof, it was rattling and was seriously annoying. You also have another potential area from which water leaks can occur. As much as they are a nice extra, sometimes you are probably better without.
Yes, you have the petrol engine as well as the hybrid system, so you can charge it in a limited way using the engine (using a "hold charge" setting) or a bit of regenerative braking, but plugging it in would enable it to charge a lot more effectively.
had a test drive, the constant bongs and alerts and noises are annoying as hell, yes you can switch them off, but you need to do this every time you start the car. If they sort that, then yes maybe I would look at getting.
Great review, I wonder why they have swapped sides for the plug in to the passenger, my current PHEV HS is tight up the drive and the lead just reaches so this could be a problem! It looks very nice in white, I wonder if the black mirrors are standard, or just on this test car. Tread plate looks nice also, be good if that is an MG option when you buy. I do think removal of the physical button to swap to battery mode is a mistake, as you use it a lot, especially in winter as does not always work straight away until the car is ready. Looking forward to trying one to compare with my 2022 model.
Yes, they have removed several things from the older HS, such as the panoramic sunroof and the mood lighting on the higher specification pre-2023 cars. I don't know about the mirrors, sadly. I don't know why the connector is now on the other side, either! Thank you ever so much indeed for watching and commenting.
I really want this car but compared to outlander it is really backward No AWD no 50KW charging no V2L what the USA had if it didn’t have the 7 years warranty I wouldn’t consider it I’ve had 3 outlander PHEVs they are ultra reliable
Yes, the now departed Outlander PHEV was very popular! I filmed a 2014 example right at the end of last year which had done over 150,000 miles. I also filmed a BYD Seal U earlier in the day, and this did actually drive better. It's all personal preference, though.
Got mine 2 weeks ago. All amazing other than the constant bongs, etc. Also have please service immediately come up. Had it in twice for ut to be removed but come up again. Just let ut be now. Fuel usage is extremely bad. 33 mpg motorway, and im constantly refilling the tank every week. In 2 weeks, I've paid £ 200 in fuel .
I drove a 2021 HS PHEV for a week in 2021. I covered 1,100 miles during that time, and only got 43 mpg on average. I tried to plug it in as much as possible, but it wasn't possible with all those motorway miles.
An excellent review. I do like the new style HS a lot especially the rear and front design. MG seem to do no wrong with their current range. Now away to watch the BYD Video.
This is my 4th mg on the trot ,hs trophy from chorley group ,can't fault it at the moment

Oh my goodness me, sir! I hope that it doesn't end up being too serious. The weather was bad enough over here today....

That's crazy, sir!
An interesting comparison to the BYD offerings,
The BYD Seal U video is up right now, sir.
Looks good value for money but without compromising on aesthetics or specification / quality levels…7 year warranty is impressive as well.
It's certainly a big improvement over the previous HS. Thank you very much indeed again for watching and commenting, sir!
Be interesting to see the real world electric only range in winter.
I suppose we will just have to see, won't we? Thank you ever so much indeed for watching and commenting.

Would like to buy but the lack of Panoramic Sunroof option is a big disappointment. The Australian version has the Panoramic roof

if the battery runs out completely, can it charge itself without connecting it to an electrical outlet at all?or do I always need an outlet?

Why is the check engine light on at 9:51?
I don't think that is the engine MIL, but I could be wrong.
Yeah, that shouldn't be up. I have a same car.
A lot of people had driven before me that day and had not been treating it very well, to be fair....
I don’t see ‘Ready’ so probably just on ignition

Yes, everyone seems to dislike those bongs, and I really don't blame them. If they can be disabled, then this car actually drives really quite well.
An issue with most new cars now - Euro NCAP stuff
Yes, that's probably why!

@@lloydvehicleconsulting think I’ll still order the new battery is just too much to resist lol
The all-new MG HS PHEV as show here does have V2L, how can you even expect 50kw charging from a sub £35,000 PHEV
Yes, I think Vehicle 2 Load is standard on the Trophy model at least.

That’s shocking? They claim something ludicrous like 500+ on the WLTP combined cycle.
That was the previous model. I don't know what this one would be like.
What’s the capacity of the fuel tank?
Hi, is yours also a phev. How many ev only miles can you get in the real world and is it possible to heat/cool the cabin without the engine coming on?
An excellent review. I do like the new style HS a lot especially the rear and front design. MG seem to do no wrong with their current range.

The way the car drives is much improved. It is a shame some features have been removed, but I suppose it keeps the price down...
