We are happy to announce the latest version now available for download has resolved most of the issues mentioned. But please keep the feedback coming! The Oceanic+ app is great because of feedback from divers like yourself. And as more features and improvements are released, those will be automatically updated. Much more to come, please stay tuned!
Thanks for your comment guys. A few things I want to add. You specifically asked me not to use the production app but the beta version inside TestFlight. After my trip to the Philippines and after I have passed on my feedback to you, you recommended to delete TestFlight and install the production app for my trip to the Maldives. I've done that, taken the Oceanic+ Dive Housing on the first dive here in the Maldives and none of the major issues had been resolved by this. In contrary, now with the production app there is such a massiv lag in the video mode, that it is basically unusable. So I have to disagree, the software is still not working properly as of November 26 (date of my last trial).

Thanks guys for letting the community know that the issue with the lag in video mode has been resolved. 🙏 I can’t verify this since I don’t have an Oceanic+ Dive Housing anymore, but I trust your statement and hope all the other issues will be solved soon as well. 😊
As of February 2024 these issues are still not resolved and ruined many dives for me already... @@MatthiasLebo

Thank you for your honest review. I watched this a few days ago and sent it to my partner, who ended up purchasing it anyway but I held off; he has had nonstop issues with the Oceanic app crashing that it’s almost laughable. I will be purchasing the DiveVolk and your course until I am more serious about UW photography and find a more substantial rig. Thanks again!

Did the latest software update from a few days ago fix anything? Hoping to grab one soon if its less buggy.
Unfortunately not, it didn’t solve the problems for at all, actually it introduced more problems. I’ll create a detailed review video in the next couple weeks.
You’ve conducted your tests between November 27 and December 4th… We are still on November 28… Maybe it was between October 27 and November 4th?
Wish the software will be fixed, waiting for mine delivered next week…

Thank you mate for noticing. Of course you're right. The tests happened during October 27th and November 4th. Not even I can teleport myself into the future to test gear there (that would be cool though 😉). Sorry for the confusion and thanks again for noticing the mistake and correcting me. Appreciate it. 🙏🏻
I received my dive housing on Dec 5 2023 and the color correction function underwater is still not resolved. It just flashes. I was able to color correct after the dive and that did not bother me. I still love the housing compared to 4 others I’ve owned.
What do you like about the housing best and what were the 4 other housings you owned before?
would have loved to meet you in person or dived with you.. where in the philippines did you dive?

I was only able to shoot video in low resolution and 30fps. I need to shoot at last 60 fps for slow motion, which did not work, and now it’s not even available.
Which ones do you recommend, Divevoolk or Oceanic?
Divevolk hands down. The Oceanic+ Dive Housing is not usable properly at the moment. This might change once they fix all the software issues, but for the time being my answer is Divevolk!

I've had Divevolk for some time now, but since I like trying out new things occasionally, that's why I asked. I'm satisfied with Divevolk, but I'm wondering what can be done to make it work well with drysuit gloves. Sometimes it works, but other times it doesn't respond to touch at all with these gloves.
Oceanic is not usable at frame rates over 30fps. It was delayed and choppy. Now it’s completely gone b

No, this is an iPhone only model.

Nice video thank you very much however, the video could be much shorter regarding the content. Would be nice to have an update after the new software releases.
An update is going to be difficult since I don’t have the housing anymore (had to return it to Oceanic). But if they send it to me again after they have fixed the software issues, I’ll be happy to test it again and make and updated video. 😉
Well, I guess the Divevolk is still king, even if I managed to break the membrane underwater.

This is the reason why I’m so hesitant to purchase a DiveVolk case. 🤔
Well, what happened is that I have a Samsung S22 Ultra which is a very big phone. So the home button is on the edge of the membrane. So in order to press it, I have to press extra hard on the membrane. So It's partly my fault. That being said, with a normal sized phone, the membrane should last for a long time.
Wow these are major software issues. Hopefully they see this video and rectify this. For the price this should have been fully working and tested before launch instead of using its customers as beta testers.
TBF, he said he was given a test version of the software and was asked to test the product, and review it.

Yes, I have been testing it with the Beta software and was expecting to encounter some issues with it. But I wasn't expecting to encounter issues that make the housing basically unusable as a photo and/or video device for your iPhone.
Using this housing as your primary dive computer would be insanity. You're relying on waaaaay too much software to be running correctly in critical situations.
Not only are you relying on Oceanic's app to function flawlessly but also the underlying iOS to not randomly bug out or some app running in the background to suddenly start eating all your battery.
Garmin does the right thing with their dive watches to disable ALL other software when in dive mode and treat the software running in that mode as critical. There's simply no way that can ever be achieved on a general purpose smartphone with a fancy case.
As a software developer I can tell you that writing critical code that doesn't fail requires a ton of time, specialized code and highly skilled developers with the right mindset.
It's the same reason I would never trust the apple watch ultra as a primary dive computer.
Therefore the dive computer functionality shouldn't be treated as anything more than a gimmick to easily keep track of your depth while taking pictures.
is it me or the video all had a magnifier kind of feel, the images look distorted toward the edge of field of view
You're right, especially when using the wide angle lens of the phone the images get soft and distorted towards the edges. This has to do with the refraction of light as it goes from air to water. This could be corrected using a dome lens on the housing, but Oceanic doesn't offer any accessories for the housing. At least not at this stage.
The corners have terrible distortion. Mid to wide footage looks unusable. This housing needs a wide angle lens port. No wide port, no thanks.
I totally agree. But as it is now, Oceanic hasn’t announced any accessories for the Oceanic+ 🤷🏻♂️
I need to tell that compared to other videos of yours it seems to be super influenced almost as a script send from oceanic t mention marketing BS. As result first half of the video is uncomfortable to watch with all those disclaimers and corrections of first review. Do Oceanic forced you to do it?
Thanks for your feedback mate. I can assure you that Oceanic did not have any influence in what I said in the video, nor did they send me any script of any kind. They just asked me nicely to state the facts under which the testing happened (beta software, no money was exchanged, etc.).
No, they did not force me to make this video, they actually asked me not to release a review video before I had done more testing with the production app, but I felt like I need to bring this information out regardless.
Glad I did, because after having done more testing with the production app, it still doesn't work the way it should.
I just tried to put all relevant information on the table, telling the truth while not unnecessarily being mean towards Oceanic. They are trying to work it out and find a solution, but for my taste it's taking too long and they should not have just recently started to sell the housing while the software is still not working properly. But that's just my humble opinion.
