Very informative video and well worth spending nearly 25 minutes to watch you do the front end of the car. I've got three of these classic Saabs: MY74 99 2.0, MY91 2.0-16V and the biggest N/A engine, a MY92 2.1-16V. Takk ska'ru ha! Thumbs up 🙂👍
Thank you thanks you thank you! Will try similar and see if it saves me still wanting to replace my sway bar / anti-roll bar for something more sturdy. I am unable to find anything you have posted here or on you FB blog about the replacement of the front shocks. Do you have any thing to help me out with that? Cheers from Sydney Australia!
Awesome !!! Everything seems easy while watching you ! How many miles or kilometer have your Saab ? Mine have 280 000km so i have to look the whole suspensions systems
I have a 1993 SAAB 900 turbo convertible much like yours which I have owned since 1996. The car is in excellent condition and runs very well. My biggest problem is the suspension. Although the quality of the ride seems good enough, the car creaks and groans badly when I drive over bumpy roads. I recently changed the shock absorbers in an attempt to get rid of the creaking but without success. Do you think changing the bushings and ball joints on the suspension would help with the suspension noise?
I think it is the bushings on the anti-roll bar or the bushings between the car body and the upper and lower control arms. If the ball joints are worn it gets knocking, not creaks and groans... Also the bushings between the upper control arm and the seat for the bottom end of the coil springs can make creaks and groans....
@@TerjeNormann Thank you for your advice. I will get the bushings on the front end of my car changed and see if that helps with the creaking and groaning. I enjoy your videos; they are well done. Also, your English is very good although a few words are misspelled. If you ever want someone to edit the English in your videos, I would be glad to do so for nothing. (wlamar@gmail.com)
It is a little hard to give a good answer to that, because my chock absorbers also should been changed, and I also still need to change the upper control arm bushings, and the bushings for the coil spring seat on top of the upper control arm. This is one next job to do, but then also I'm going to change to lowering springs. But it was a mush better ride after this job done. It was very needed not only for the comfort, but for the tecnical condition of the car.

I'm not so sure about that. For me it was not any problem to get them right in place. Some of them I actually got a little far through, so I had to pull it a little back in. I think you should try to get them correctly into place before you put them back onto the car.
@@TerjeNormann Hey there, I compared this morning with the other side (which I hadn't disassembled yet) and it looks like I got them in the same distance as the factory had them. Thanks.
I'll be honest, i don't enjoy the music one bit but this person is showing you how to fix your car for free so I think try and be less demeaning and just play it on mute.

Your videos are by far the best I've ever seen. Straight, and to the point. Including showing the size tool needed. Outstanding. Thank you.
these are valuable videos, there is not too much information about Saab technology and how it is maintained

good effort, i wish i could get those meyle ball joints here in australia
Dont you get them there? Strange. Here it was no problem.
You mean the upper and lower ball joints on the Control arms?
Are you member on Facebook?
Thanks, I mostly got my new bushings in, they didn't quite come through on the inside 100%. Oh well.
That is no oroblem when doing it as I do.
One busving I was pulling too far through, so I had to reverse the tool and adjust it back to center.

I havent replaced my chocks yet.
I'm planing to do that in a later process toghether with to install lowering springs...

Great video. Can I ask what is the paint treatment on the suspension parts?
No treatment at all.
This car have no rust at all.
The paint you see is the original paint from factory.
I'm wondering, on a scale 1-10 how much better was the ride and handling? What component do you think contributed to the improvement the most?

I don't have the anti roll bar - something wrong or was it not standard on my non-turbo 1990?
No, it was not standard on non turbos.
Do you know what size nut goes on the lower control arm to hold the shock?
I did show in the video...
18mm nut on the bottom end of the chocks.
Very rare to see 18mm is used on cars...
maybe once I install them in the car they will work themselves into the correct position
