I've actually never considered the idea of going over a duct tape dummy and/or foam head for a friendly ref sheet! I might use this idea, but I need to ask a question. I have not yet made any fursuits (for one thing I don't have access to materials right now because of quarantine haha), but I wasn't sure if I would be allowed to, for example, look up pictures of foam heads and/or a duct tape dummy from other creators? night of the chainsaw, baby! You can reference duct tape dummies or foam heads as much as you want as long as it's not supposed to be custom such as primagens and the long sharp visors they have for example so you're good
The point in going over a DTD is to get your character proportionate to your body! It wouldnt really make sense to use someone else's body, ya know? Also you dont need a DTD to draw over! You can take full body photos of yourself and they work the same! Just set a camera up so it can see your whole body, turn on a video, and stand in front of it. Stand facing the camera and then your side facing the camera for a few seconds and then take screen shots of the video and ta da! You have full body photos of yourself! That way you dont need someone to help you! And its ok if they are blurry a little, you really only need your own out line!

There are actually quite a lot of good and free art programs put there! I know of a few but can find more if youd like.
Btw idk how to answer your question tho since I dont use mspaint ;;; sorry

You could just take a picture of a fursuit of the species you want, put it into a drawing app, and then trace over it and then color it
