Great content as always, Marc. These are nice enhancements. I pre-ordered my NS3C, so missed out on the improved user flow but at least the software and features are the same. One improvement I'm surprised Clavia hasn't made is a mode that allows the knobs to "catch up" to their stored settings (vs. jump upon tweaking). I realize the shift/monitor knob allows you to preview most settings, but that's just not useful in a performance setting (e.g., filter cutoff adjustments). Gripes and differences aside, all versions of Nord instruments are excellent.
Hey swancakes! Good detailed feedback here and agree about the monitoring thing. Agree that Nord instruments are excellent haha - kind of goes without saying at this point 🕶
Just got New NS3 HA88 RevB ver. 5.2 and the latest version is missing vent holes on the rear panel. You won’t find it on the official Nord website photos.
Hi Darrick! Long time no speak! Well, if you bought yours around the same time as mine, you probably have the original version? I hope all is well with you.
@@MyKeysToMusic Everything is well. I am writing a script now for a video on my channel. I will be talking about the Nord Stage 3. Also I will be giving your channel a shout out for sure.
@@darrickkeels6387 Awesome! I'm happy to proof if too if you need a technical review of it before it goes up. Not that you need that, but I know I would sometimes love having someone proof my videos prior to release, etc. Good luck with that. Now I'm curious as to the topic haha. Thanks in advance for the shout out too 🙏🏽
@@MyKeysToMusic Well...Marc the video is up! I ended up ditching the script and it turned out to be almost an hour long lol! I was not sure how to reach you outside of TH-cam. I'm very confused now i was about buying one till i saw this video thank you so much i didn't know that i didn't want to watch your video for now i said when my stage came out i will start watching all your videos but I'm glad i see this one please tell me what version to buy now I'm confused what is better
Hello @MéSter Mé-èDoOx So, when you buy a new Nord Stage 3, you only get the new version of the hardware (you don't get a choice). The new version has labels and buttons that better correlate with the latest OS. So if you can, either buy a new one or if you buy a used one, ask them to take a picture of the panel on the far right so you can be sure you are getting the later version of the hardware if possible. Good luck!
Any info on other versions of the nord stage? Ive got an old Nord stage (1?) revision b . (Revision b is written on the frontplate) i cant seem to find alot of info on it since the program main section is somewhay different . Id like to know about its midi capabilities and where its features are limited. I need it to play as my main keyboard and or as a simple midi controller. Great videos thanks!!
Hey Chapter Two vision. I don't know much about the original Nord Stage but in a quick look at the manual, you have the "Extern" section which provides basic MIDI control options to drive other MIDI devices. In other words, it likely has similar MIDI capabilities as the Nord Stage 3 does of today. It can surely be used as a simple MIDI controller but probably not from the USB port but rather the traditional 5 pin DIN MIDI In/Out jacks in the back.
Hey Tunewurld! So, at this time there is no such thing as a Stage 3 EX. However, that's likely the next model on deck if we use history as a guide. Personally, I would like to see them skip right to the Nord Stage 4 and give us 4 panels, 4X the memory, add to the polyphony, extend the MIDI implementation, enhance the arpeggiator, the synth and I'm good to go. A guy can dream. And.... It would probably cost 6k! So, I have to be careful what I wish for. 😉Let me know if this is the answer to your question or not.
You said there was more than KB Zones under the Utility menu now - can you elaborate? I have 2.5.2 so I'm one update behind, but I still only see the zones layout in that section.
Hi Modalmixture! Great question. So, under Utility, they now have both the KB Zones preferences (just like you are seeing) as well as the "Program Level" preferences. They removed the separate button functionality for "Prog Level" and combined it under the new Utility button and have it sitting alongside of KB zones. You are a person who likes details like me. 😎 And we can assume, that if more misc. system preferences like this are needed down the road, "Utility" will be aptly named in anticipation of such cases.
@@MyKeysToMusic Oh I see, I must not be able to see that because I have the older hardware revision that still has the Prog Change button. This is the first instance I've heard of where the firmware is actually operating a little differently between the hardware versions. Anyway, thanks!
Hey Marc. I'm soon to get a Stage 3 and just wondered what nord have done with the program level button on revision A has been moved to? If I'm getting a Stage soon, that's a handy feature to have and just wondering?
Hi Ben! Great to hear you're getting a Stage 3. They've put the "Program Level" settings under the "Utility button" and that button also handles the KB Zones diagram. There are currently 2 pages/settings under the Utility button.
Hey David! Yes, the manual has been updated with the latest screenshots and explanations for those with the new versions of the hardware. I hope all is well with you guys...
Aha that explains a lot, thanks. Looking forward to watching more of your great videos on the Stage 3
