This is a great video. My horse has suspected minor neuro symptoms, very slight circumduction and uncoordination, shifting lameness, a couple tying up episodes, lameness vet cannot pinpoint, neuro vet doesn't think neuro, EPM titer is 85, inconclusive, blood and muscle biopsy normal. I don't have the money to just treat blindly for EPM, so next step is a lyme test, and horse hair analysis from DePaolo Equine Concepts to rule out heavy metal toxicities. I hope the gal who asked this question got answers, as I know the frustration

I found cure for EPM. It was accidentally discovered. I had mare with EPM. Her condition stayed same for 2 years. I had acquired her not realizing she had EPM at that time, but afterwards when gait affected she was diagnosed EPM. I had begun feeding all my horses diatomaceous earth in their feed as a worm component in their feed. This mare got that daily in her feed. He uncoordination stopped getting worse and she continued to walk off in her gait but no further progression. I donated her to university to learn about what she had. They wanted her because I had never treated her for EPM, and to my knowledge....I hadn't. I didn't know adding diatomaceous earth would halt protazoa problem. The autopsy on mare proved no protazoa found. That's when I realized diatomaceous earth fixed problem. Tried to get Grant but drug companies cannot make money on diatomaceous earth. Neurological problems can be EPM, wobblers, etc. So feed diatomaceous earth daily in their grain.
If ur horse gets colic and u have tried everything, try a wet cold cloth on his stomach. Cures mine everytime. Also if you add metamucil to their feed, colic issues are reduced
How much diatomaceous earth do I give? My horse is a rescue, just turned 20. I've had him 14 years. He has EPM and is being treated with the Restore pellets. We have not ridden him as he had some hoof problems from birth, hence the rescue. The Marquis is around 1400/month x 4 months, so sadly not an option. We cut back his sweet feed because of the added weight/hoof problems. He is trimmed every 5-6 weeks. Anyway, it's a heartbreaking disease and if I were to add diatomaceous earth to his newer regimen of Restore/vitamin E/maybe his healing would quicken. He doesn't k kw where his feet are and has muscle atrophy around both rear hips .
the drug companies will NOT applaud you for finding a cure for this; be aware, and be WARY they may come after you about this, bc they dont make money on their drugs for various ailments, when a cheap alternate cure is found! they can b evil in their aggression about this topic, be warned....

Lyme has been in New York and New Jersey for 30 years.
That's the New England area.
