I saw john oliva preform live back n the day during the Hall Of The Mountain King Tour.He was untouchable back in the day,in his prime! Savatage was so powerful and there music was untouchable back then.Savatage was awesome to see play live.I was at there show for the Hall Of The Mountain King Tour! I will Never forget that concert.Never!!!!Savatage Forever. All you young metal heads bow ur heads and respect Savatage!!!!☺☺☺☺
I was at the show for Gutter Ballet, Masquerade Atlanta Georgia April 13th 1990. The only show to come close was Iron Maiden. Truly Metal Gods! The Ghost in the Ruins live album was the set they played. Truly Amazing!
Jon Oliva is the type of person ( we all know quite a few , I guess ) who probably has already forgot what sobriety feels like . It is incredible how talented this man is , even in this state at his age , he still comes on stage and pulls a performance like this - coherent - convincing - satisfactory . He´s the Mountain King after all \m/
I can hardly play the guitar. He plays the guitar, bass, drums, sings like noboby else, piano, violin and cello if i remeber right. Most likely more than that.My hero. Waiting for the new Sava Record in late 2024.
When they first wrote this song, early 80s, maybe late 70s with Avatar (pre-Savatage Oliva bros) um, this is pretty much a death metal song, or the prelude to death metal. imo Always loved this tune. never gets old for me.
I was at this concert. (I can see my fists in the air) It was a great time! I was back by the food truck just as Obituary came on. I had to finish eating real quick so I could check them out. But as soon as they introduced the Mountain King, I threw my food to the ground and made a mad rush to the front of the stage! Did I mention how much fun it was?
To those young death metal heads they don't realize how much jon and early savatage had an influence on the early Tampa bay metal and death metal scene and by the way savatage was originally called avatar but had to change their name right before they released their first albums, so what a great way of paying respect by having obituary one of the early death metal perform with Jon oliva, and by the way even today I think Jon Oliva is the best savatage front man and vocalist, and no disrespect to zac Steven's,but songs like sirens, city beneath the surface, and even gutter balet don't sound right vocally with him singing them instead of Jon Oliva even today, with jons Alice Cooper style vocals with screams and shrieks in them. Yes Jon has aged but vocally he still sounds pretty good darn good considering what he has gone through with losing his brother the late criss oliva.
Yeah, booze! Breakfast of the champions! I've seen him drunk in Wacken '98, he was a total mess (I feel a bit responsible, we've been drinking all day!!) and he sounded better than this.
Jon is not a normal musician he is a legend and he shall treat himself as a legend it would be better to go back in shape, you are a way better than that
He has lot A LOT of weight, you should have seen him 10 years ago, he couldnt even stand up. He is slowly getting back in shape, hopefully for a fully fledged Savatage comeback. He looks like he did in the 90s w. Savatage here, late 90s that is.
i dont see why everyone is harping on the johns size everyone stop and thank he lost chris olivia his brother years ago u dont thank he could still have some depression from that. hell they were a trio john and chris give credit where credit is due at least hes still up there rockin and tryin johns vocals are legend and he still sounded good to me no matter what size the rest of the band was big guys to so not everybody is perfect so lay off john in your comments everyone
Not sure if I read somewhere, but it seems to me that JON OLIVA had some health problem, like diabetes or thyroid, so he gained so much weight... does anyone know anything to respect?
It doesn't matter. He is still great as a frontman. He is almost 60 years old. Show me any 60 years old rock singer, who sings exactly how he did it when he was 20.
IDk he still sounds pretty good here. The insane guterals fit and his screaming in the beginning and towards the end are pretty damn good all things considering.
What are you talking about in the comments??? He cannot sing shit, lmao!!!! He is a legend y, Savatage ruled y, but this appearence is a total shame... Nostalgia has hit hard all metalheads these days, wtf???
It's called life. Rock gods live through a life of death and depression most of us can't fathom. You realize how many people close to him this man has lost, in tragic circumstances?
Even drunk and 200 kilos he is still good enough.
If you lost your brother by a drunk driver you may also eat that extra chocolate bar or drink that extra soda .
This is so badass. Two Tampa legends. Hail Savatage, hail Obituary!
Hail to the Mountain King!!!
Jon Oliva is the best frontman EVER.

@@hazardeur I wish you could have been there!
I never knew death metal bands know and respect Savatage!
Savatage is from Tampa, a city famous for being a death metal scene
This is as Tampa, FL as this can get.
I like how the Florida bands support each other. You don't see much of that in other states.
He still sounds so good
Great, great song ! Jon is defilinely one of the best metal opera singers !!

Native? What do you mean by that? Jon's NOT native.

Thanks Jon !!!

Man.. I've hung out with Jon.. And I can tell you this: HE IS PISSED OUT OF HIS BRAIN on this one. Nevertheless, great to see the Mountain King alive.

easier said than done in that age and profession dude
John Oliva is our idol. Only the idol need a little diet :)
Una cosa meravigliosa, due parti della mia adolescenza unite...è semplicemente stupendo
We love you n sure miss you
Drunk and still better than any of the SHEEEIITTT out today.
Long life to savatage
Ken is killing it. Been along time since I have seen him and some other local friends play.
This performance reeks of Florida itself!!!!!!!!!
I love Jon Oliva
Great frontman!!
I was at this show and it was easily the best concert I've ever been to!
Jon ❤
AMAZING!

sooooo awesome :-)
His old guitarist says he can't tour anymore because it would affect his health. Sad I guess we'll never see Savatage again.
Jon, we need you man!
I hope the new album is coming along!
Obituary, fuck yeah... Love you fuckers!
Shout-out to my Pasco and Hillsborough peeps
oliva σε αγαπω
I LOVE how he bangs the stage and immediately the smoke machines roar to life... Dunno if that was planned but shit that was AWESOME...
Só feras 🤘

oliva delivers, as usual and no surprise. what i am surprised about is that the guitarist emulated chris' playing actually really well
FUCKING AMAZING!!!
Jon is so entertaining on stage.
Oh fucking god 🤟
Our eternal Mountain king!!
jon god
👏👏🎸🎵🎶🎼🤘🤘
Breaks my heart to see Jon in such bad shape. One of my favorite singers of all time. Of course, Mr Tardy is as well.
he's been like that for decades
Fuck yeah! Two kings together
Just read about this in the Obituary book, fuckin awesome!!! 🤟🏻🤟🏻
Singing very good as always.
Can't tell if he likes food or drink more.
👏👏👏👏🤘
Fuck this was EPIC!!!! R.I.P Criss
Wow..Alrighty then!!!
🤘🏼🤘🏼
I love Jon Oliva and everything he has ever done, but i hate to see him this drunk on stage, just sad.
Agree 100%....this is just sloppy. Tarnshing his reputation as a pure metal legend
Leave him the Fus$ alone.
He's paid his dues and
is his own man.
🤘😎🤘
Keep killing in JOHN!

Que publico frio pra um classico em!? :-(
This sounds like Haunting The Chapel.
!!!!!!!!!!
I love youtube!
🇧🇷💀💀💀
The guitarists tone is insanely close to Criss's.
\m/
We are all going to die 😂
Outstanding musician. Undervalued. Brother of the great composer. It's so pathetic to see him sing with young shit.
Young shit? The Obituary dudes are all about 50.
On lead guitar is Trevor Peres, who was born only six years after Criss Oliva.
FUCK YEAH
THe BURGER KING FTW !!!!
Normal for Jon to get grabby on stage lol ... I know ;) It's all cool :->
Eat more Veg
The weight has made it to where Jon cant hold a tune! this is aweful he cant sing hes just talking into the mic.

He was wasted in this performance, it is leary obvious.
i wish Jon would take better care of himself, he's a extremely talented guy but he can perform alot better if he loses some weight
the crowd is lame in this
These dudes went from scrawny little dudes in the 90s to 300 lbs truck drivers in 2010s LOL.
This is WAY TOO MUCH METAL for any of us to watch!!

I remember when John was thin; my goodness what in the heck happened. Now he looks like the Penguin (Batman) ughhh
Right I wish he would man up and do some working out. Make himself strong for ODIN. For WARRIORS are who go to Valhalla.
mic f, how many chromosomes do you have?
It's called life. Rock gods live through a life of death and depression most of us can't fathom. You realize how many people close to him this man has lost, in tragic circumstances?
He never was thin. He was fat always, now he just became a little bit fatter.
yes he was, during "Streets" he was very thin
