Turbo Power Wheels | Modifying a 6 volt car to 12 volts
Thank you for this video …very easy to understand
hy 18V battery, 24V controller, 12V-motor 18V 4ah, how long can you last? What is max RPM recommed? Possible with Ford ranger 4x4? how could the operating time be increased? They go straight a lot
Run time depends on a lot of factors, like battery AH, driving surface, weight of driver, etc. A 4 Ah battery might get you 20 minutes. Go for atleast a 6Ah battery for better run time… As for the motor, max RPMs should be around 40,000 or if it gives it in “turns”, anything between a 12 turn to 24 turn motor is fine
I bought new 12v batteries for my kids car. We already used it but when the battery went low i charged it but it coudnt pass 11.9 v mark using the built in charger.b What might be the problem from the car?
Thank you very much for this video!
Awesome video thanks
Hi any help I can get with steering not working on my sons car? Reverse and forward work with remote on pedal. Steering is super hard by hand and does not work on remote as well. I have a 380 12v motor with gearing on the way. Hope I made the right decision?
Ya, replacing the steering motor/gearbox is what I would do. That seems like the right decision
Very helpful thank you!
Mine wont charge, when i connect the charger it blinks red and green any idea what the problem is?
Has the battery been working fine recently? It’s most likely a bad battery or bad charger
Thanks for the video it helped a lot great job 👏🏽 👍🏽
What a seriously stupid amount of work to change battery
It's to open the hood. Expensive... Lol
My daughter has G500 12v, everything works perfect, manual accelerator works perfect too. And The parental remote connect to the car but it won’t do anything else. I got a new remote but it does the same. Pairs to the car but doesn’t function.
Does the “emergency stop” button on the parent remote stop the car in manual mode? Is the gear switched to RC mode on the car?
@@DadHacks never tried to use stop/park button while the car is running in manual mode… lol Car has only forward, neutral and reverse gear. I have tried keeping the gear on all 3 modes but it won’t work.
Aosom 12V Benz G500 Licensed Kids Electric Car with Remote Control, Black This is the car we have from Walmart, if that helps
There should be another switch to go from manual to RC. I asked about the emergency stop button because if it works on manual mode, then that means the remote is actually working and paired, otherwise it might not be paired correctly
12V DC motor , Ford Ranger 4x4 possible work 20V battery?
Does it have a control board? One way to know is if it has a parent remote control.
@@DadHacks yes I have controll board
You’ll have to get a control board that will handle more voltage (like the one in the link), but then it will work. Lights and sounds that run off the battery can be hit or miss on if they will keep working though amzn.to/3B3Zo7P
@@DadHacks thanks, And I no needed controll board?
You will need to replace the control board with one like this amzn.to/3B3Zo7P
Hi, so my son pulled a wire, and i don't know where it should connect. I press power on button and it turns on, as soon as i let go of button, it turns off. Truck moves and does everything normal while i hold power on on button. Any suggestions?
Thanks!!!
Thank you
Upgraded my sons 12v to 18v Milwaukee power and it worked perfect for the first day but now won’t move. When the switch is turned on the battery level indicator on the dash still reads full. Did I burn out the control board?
Yup, the control board likely burned out. You’ll need a replacement. Look into this one: amzn.to/3XBSCz4
Thank you for sharing the troubleshooting steps. I checked my power out of the controller and it is 12.2V without pressing the pedal. Is that an indication of a controller gone bad? I originally thought motors were bad and replaced them but still not powering the motors. I checked voltage at the the motor connect and it read .1V. Could the cable be fried?
Do you have the video of this set up where you have the speed controller with the voltage regulator?
@@rasz1013 no, but the diagram at 4:19 shows how to wire up the speed controller with the voltage cutoff board
Thnx
Thank you so much ! I did it in less than 1h Thanks for all the details !
Dope vid, what was the rating on the Resistor for brake?
I’ve used anywhere between 0.5 and 1.0 Ohm and they have been really good
One question please, I have bought a car for my son and I changed the motors, I put in higher revs. my problem is that it works for 15 seconds and then it turns off by itself and turns on after 5 seconds. this happens constantly. it had a 12v battery 4.5Ah and I put a new 12v 9Ah one but it still does the same thing. Do you know what the problem is? Can you help me?
I currently have the same Issue I also have a 18v Milwaukee battery though,I’m sure it’s the board Issue as well since mine is 12v I’m pushing 24v so it’s tripping the board so I ordered a 24v board if it works I’ll be sure to get back to you
@Hectorp2015 yup, that should be the fix!
@@DadHacks have you tried it? did you change the board? I am waiting for your answer. If this is the problem, I should also order a new board. My question is, if I put new boards, will there be a problem and burn the motors that are 12v?
@bambamyt5915 Start by changing out the board for a replacement 12v. It’s either the board or the thermal fuse “breaking”. Your new 12v motors will be fine
@@DadHacks what board should I put? the same one or another one? if I have to put another one, do you have any idea which one to put? again with 12v or with 24v?
Thanks for the video. I've got a couple of observations. #1 If you're using your jumper cable battery kit to preserve the memory, you don't need to buy the memory saver kit. Just attach the jumper cable kit to the battery cables under the hood. Same result. #2 and this is, potentially, a big one, I don't think you have to remove all the parts forward of the battery wall and slide the battery out. If you just remove the pieces around and above the battery, the battery WILL lift out. However, you'll have to disassemble some of the wires connected to the battery cables to get them out of the way. I saw this done on another video here (unfortunately after I'd changed my battery out). An extra minute or two spent on the battery cables is a lot easier than pulling out all those other parts.
Thank you for the information sir 🙏🏻🙏🏻 because I plan to use this LAC board for a remote-controlled my lawn mower.
At which online shop can I buy and get the LAC board ? Is it for sale at Shopee or Tokopedia Olshop ? If you wish, please include the purchase link for the shop, sir 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Great video. Thanks for posting. Would you happen to know why the new battery won’t register? I’m using ZURICH ZR-BT1 Bluetooth code reader. Battery was upgraded from flooded to agm.
@@yekra2900 that product should be able to register the battery. Is there an error message that is displayed ?
@@DadHacks No error messages. Zurich ZR-BT1 just didn’t work. Message said that the battery could not be successfully registered. I ended up getting Zurich ZR-11s scanner. It worked without any issues. Thanks again for your help.
Hey! I have a 24v jeep and the connector from battery to motor melted and is not powering on. Should I just replace the battery?
Yes, get a new battery but also make sure you have a fuse (typically a 30 amp will do)
I love Animals
Have 24v atv that change controller board because wasn’t moving now it only pulls slow. But if raise up back tires spin fast and freely
Sounds like a weak battery, likely needs replaced.
How can I keep the tires from slipping in the grass??? I sprayed flex seal on them and they still slip???
@@GregPrince-io1cb the next step is to put bike tires on the wheels. But if you do that, you absolutely must install a “soft brake”, because you will chew up the plastic gearbox very quickly

Hello, My name is Mike and my daughter's new "Ride on car" doesn't turn right with the rc, you can turn to the right manually but not with the rc. She's too young to turn it manually and was hoping to figure this out to repair. It looks like the wires are hot glue gunned in and and I'm wondering if maybe it's just a loose wire? Hopefully you can help, thanks!
Does it turn left with the RC, but just not to the right?
Thanks !!!
Hi, thanks for the helpful video. I hooked up a 20 volt drill battery, worked great for about 10 min. Now it won’t turn on, so ordered the control panel/ receiver. Could it also maybe be the on off control panel JR1927M-12V? If I did want to continue using the 20 v drill battery would you recommend using the 24V on off control panel with the 24V control panel/ receiver? Thanks
@@markpeppard1770it could be the on/off switch, but that’s usually ok on 24 volt, however it gets damaged if left out in the rain. If it makes a noise on start up, then it won’t be the on/off switch
What will happen if I skip the registration process?
The alternator will “over charge” the battery because it thinks it’s older and it needs to be charged more. Could the battery last 3 or 4 years, yes; but if it’s properly registered it could last 8+ years
very helpful, thanks a lot .
I have a ride on car that I bought yesterday for my 3 year old. He took it outside and a neighbor’s 10 year old rod on it w him for a good 10 mins. Now it sounds like crap. Lots of squeaky noises. How can I fix that?
Unfortunately, it sounds like it could be a bent axel rod. If you lift the rear tires and push the pedal and the wheels wobble, then it’s bent. What brand is it?
excellent tutorial! only difference for me on a 2017 mini cooper s convertible was no vent hose
Great instructions! My 2017 Outback 3.6 limited HID factory bulbs were these exact bulbs that you show in this video.

I follow along until the last minute of the video in regards to replacing the white power wire with your own. Where does the new wire connect to? I assume to the fuse ? Please elaborate

I upgraded my daughters jeep from 12v to 24v, motors and control board. The wife wants a speed controller added as full on is to fast in her opinion lol. I know the supplied pedal is either full on or full off (soft brake is planned) if i replaced the pedal with the variable pedal would i still get full on and full off? Would the ESC basically replace the control board if that is the only way to have variable speed?
Correct, the only way to use an variable speed pedal is with an ESC. “Does it replace the control board”, well, kinda. The lights and sound accessories run on 12 volts and the ESC can control lights/sounds, but it will be on 24 volts, which will fry the accessories. My suggestion is to only let her drive in “low” gear which should be appease the wife on the speed until she can handle the full 24 volts. FYI, the soft brake likely won’t work on a car that has a control board, it’s only for Power Wheels and Peg Perego brands
@DadHacks There is no low or high gear with this jeep it only has forward and reverse that utilizes the type of control board in the video. Thanks for the advice appreciate it.
Is there a specific position the motor should be in? Like can i do this while the motor is laying flat in the bucket floor or does it need to be in a vertical position (hung upside down)? Also for lubrication can i use penetrating oil? Thanks a lot
I had to buy the snake, but it was worth it. My washer is draining again.
can you reach out to me please i'm pretty sure the issue with my sons mack truck is the white long part on the switch board the accessory part but could use a second option. i've been able to fix it so far but i think its in the wiring. please reach out to me if you can
@@Mandachu85 you can email me at PowerWheelsRepairs@gmail.com , pictures of the control board and anything else that you think will be helpful
Busted the plastic tabs that the metal clips latch on to, any body know if there is an easy fix?
Hi with a full battery what should the voltage reading be? As you had shown 12 on your led display.
Does these conversions only work for 12v vehicles? What about a 24v unit. How to make that work?
You wouldn’t want to convert a 24v car to a 18/20 volt battery because the motor would spin more slowing on lower voltage. But you could use a Kobalt 24 volt battery, and speed would be the same as the stock 24v battery
Thanks for the tip.
How would you test the motor
Run a wire directly from the battery to the motor’s leads
