Red Dutchess Farm
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 22 พ.ย. 2017
We are homesteading on a 65 acre farm in the middle of the Shawnee National Forest in the southern tip of Illinois. It seems to be an ever growing list, but currently alpacas, horses, a milk cow and calf, chickens, guinea fowl, a sheep, pet pigs, dogs and cats are the animals on the farm. Our gardens are around two acres plus a young orchard, various berries and many other annual and perennial plants. A commercial greenhouse, doing all of the spring crop items including flowering and garden bedding plants, hanging baskets, pots and containers, keeps us extremely busy from late January through May. Join us on our journey to a more self sustainable life.

I'm from Chicago, bought a home in Pittsburg, it IS humid here and hardly a wind. I'd love to homestead in Saline, Alexander, or Pope county. How did you here about the land you live on being for sale, it's not cheap like it should be down here. I hate it here, IDK if this would work "here" for me, I doubt it was cheap to do what you guys did. That's what the wife and I worry about. She's disabled and I'm only an officer. Glad I found your channel! We like "herbs" to. 🙂
Can these be sanded smooth like modern cowboy hats
@@wenzelsstoneponyequine3667 Hi there. These hats cannot be sanded due to the type of fiber. To be able to sand one it must be Factory felted.
Thank you Mark AWESOME!! My garden is same so these cages will work great for me! How tall was your concrete mesh?
Got one over on ya. I have the early ceral number that had the tank auger on the front. Still works great. In times past i built the pan adapters for the header to harvert sunflower. The corseness of the sunflower stalk however was hard on the drapers
Not a bad job considering how much grass and weeds were in that field. Did a decent job of seperating the oats.
So what's available for Christmas 2023??
Cinches, felted hats, dryer balls and scarfs!!!!
Yummy looking goods there my friends!
Lovely was the flower died Alpaca or was it merino wool thanks
It was dyed alpaca.
This brings back so many memories. I gre up in Southern Michigan and we farmed 50 acres. My Dad pulled this combine with a Farmall M .
With new reel
I just bought my frist allis chalmers pull type combine
Yes! welding in Crocs! i love it , sweet grinder too
You cut your oats green??
We're in benton illinois
I thank you for showing this video. Can this machine be configured to be attached to 3 front hitch linkage of a tractor and the harvested grain goes to the tractor trailer attached to the back of the tractor? This may be a cheap innovation for someone in African who would want to go motorized mechanized farming since the cost of modern combine harvester may not be affordable. Kindly reply please.
Beautiful video! The natural color of this cotton feels really special. Thanks for sharing this process here 😊 Cheers from Brazil
Question. What RPM are you running at?
Added to Home Depot to get my wire! Thanks
I need the screens for mine do you have any idea where I might get these. Or the dimensions maybe make them myself
enjoyed seeing it. we had a ScourKlean on ours and I think you needed it to get that wet weed seed out. 1. The drive belt for the cylinder and all is in the middle, so there must be a gearbox 90 deg from the pto? 2. also doesn't an auger recirculate the chaff through the cylinder a second time?
That is gorgeous!
Well done, well done!
If you have a problem with too much draft in your cook stove, it can be remedied by moving your damper closer in to the stove, or even adding another damper closer to the stove on the up pipe.
Are those honey uncapping combs?! Brilliant idea!!
They are! Lol cheaper than big combs to try it out.
Thanks. New farmer here. We late for maize and sorghum is an excellent option for me.
What is the liquid in the red bottle I keep on trying to stop the video but can not catch it! And how do you get a hat mold? I bought some dark gray Alpaca hair so I’d looks to try this! Going through breast cancer and need a good hobby to keep my mind busy ! Thank you! For sharing !
Hi there! I had to go back and watch the video lol! The red bottle is dish soap from melaluca. I really like it because it's all natural and doesn't dry my hands out. It's a bit pricey compared to other dish soaps but love it for felting. The hat molds are from a company called hat shapers, they are a pretty order and come in many sizes and shapes. Let me know if I can help you out with anything else. Thanks for watching and big prayers for your healing!
Thanks for the info
Nice little light.
what model is this?
Very cool to see. Thanks
That was the first combine I knew of that my dad had
I wonder: If you captured the whey, it might be a great compost addition. Of course you have the greenhouse concrete floor, so it doesn't matter so much in this setup. ;) And, will you feed any to your chickens? Excited for you!!!!
Hey, this is great! For some reason, you aren't showing up for us here. They can't stop us from being up to date though, because we can do real and living updates!! lol This is similar to the HT Survival setup.
Looks like you have a great system going there. I can't wait to see how well it does over the winter.
Sounds like you got it going. I can't wait to see updates.
Great to see you again
How much does the gin cost and where can you purchase them. I think what your teaching is very useful and I for one am excited . I want to try growing cotton in my home garden next summer. For starter. And see how it goes. I spend alot on yarn and this would be a great was to save I hope.
Hi there, honestly I'm not sure. This belonged to a fellow fiber artist. I believe she ordered it online and the price was very reasonable.
Thank you for sharing how to felt a hat. That takes a lot of dedication to create. I met your husband and the two boys he brought with him at the Grand Rivers meetup. That is how I came to sub to your channel. Have a blessed week!
Hello Mark! It was wonderful to meet you and spend time talking with you at Grand Rivers meetup this weekend! Thank you for sharing how you make your tomato cages! God bless yous!
That’s a nice machine. Pity so much weeds came up in that crop. It must have been a wet year
Jenni, hope y'all don't think I'm being rude, but this is the only way I know how to ask. Your husband made some pies for the gathering at Deepsouth. Is there any way I can get a recipe. They were cheese cake pies.
So many places exposed to loose a finger or arm.
Bet you could throw all the seed heads in a cement mixer and then filter the seeds from the other matter with hardware cloth.
The pig rings are the trick to keep them consistent and secure. Great idea and easy!
Thanks! Nice to have a more than 360p demonstration with this products! Could you tell that your production efficiency has increased significantly since you use the transplanter?
Whats the horse power of ur tractor
What kind of dye Acid?
Hey Jamie Lynne! It's Jamie Lynne!! I wondered where you were nowadays!
Hi there!!!!! You found me!!!
@@jjscrazylife8003 It sounds like you are doing pretty good!! I'm very happy for you!! I'm still in Crawford County. Lol. Hopefully not for too much longer though.
😁hi I’m mia I found a lake property in Illinois I got I’m tryna go offgrid 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 I’ve been lookin for others in Illinois who live off grid but all I’m getting is crickets 🦗 😂😂😂😂😂
For some reason I became curious about the cotton gin this morning and I came across your video. I didnt know cotton could be so brown and I like it! Your process looked fun and I'm completely demystified now so thank you! I'd like to try my hand at it from seed to thread but I dont believe cotton would do well in these wet Oregon hills.
