The missing ingredient these days is radio airplay. From '64 to '67 we had 24 hr pirate radio which played everything new around the clock and it made hits by giving promising records maybe 10 plays in a day . '67 on we had Radio One which then was mainstream pop music , We had Top of the Pops every Thursday evening on BBC and Ready Steady Go on Friday early evenings on !TV . All these programs broke new music and new artists to tens of millions of people .................sadly all is lost ,,, it must be very uphill to sell records these days and we have lost the joy of popular music of the 50s. 60s, 70s 80s, and even the 90s it is all very sad .
