The DBS Workshop
United Kingdom
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 4 ม.ค. 2022
Welcome to the DBS workshop, Having ridden and had a passion for motorcycles & all things with an engine from an early age then after receiving a motorcycle off the missus for my 30th birthday as a project bike during covid-19 lockdown, I become the owner of a 2000 Honda CB600FS Hornet, Which had been stored up partly stripped down for several years.
Then after getting the bike fired up back into life & running again, working my way through the list of things that needed doing to make it roadworthy again i decided it may be a good idea to document the journey.
So here i am, and the plan is to document the build and all the things that need replacing or refurbishing along with some tooltips/tricks & reviews.

They make a hose you don't have to suck on there smart guy. Awesome
Yes I realise that, this method is intended for emergency use when you are out on the bike and have little to hand to get you out of trouble and home again.

Great video, step by step guide really simplified it
Hi there thanks for reaching out & your positive feedback its much appreciated, glad it may be of some use to you. Ride safe 👍
phenomenal tutorial, nicely enumerated all the steps... cheers
can you makea video for this bike for the front wheel
Hi there, iv got a few things going on at the moment & working on 2 other bikes but I will certainly try and get round to it for you
"Thank you! Yesterday I bought the exact same bike, a Sprint ST, but in black. It's from 2007 and I'm super happy with it. I've already ridden 200 kilometers, and what an amazing bike to own and ride!"
Hello mate where did you get your radiator guard?
@@bbchaos100 Hi there, this was a family members bike. I think it was purchased via either Ebay or aliexpress. But I will try and find out for you.
does it help with falls when the bike is idle ?
Hi there, no this is mainly a decorative guard with some functional use by protecting the radiator fins when riding by preventing stones or debri from damaging the cooling fins. If the bike was to fall over or be involved in a slide I don't think the radiator sticks out that much I imagine most of the contact would be with your bar ends & petrol tank.
Oh jeeeez no ...give me ..I.C.E all day long man , that electric bike sounded like a wind up toy .
🤣 the futures not looking bright for motorcycling in my opinion..
@thedbsworkshop1 well the landscape is definitely changing
How much louder is it? I don't mind some noise but dont want it to be obnoxious. Any idea what the weight difference is?
Hi there, apologies for such a late reply I've been mad busy with work this week. It is fairly loud with the baffle fitted but ok & simular to most aftermarket cans, if you are concerned with it being too loud I would suggest choosing a longer length like the more traditional 600mm-750mm commonly found on older bikes, but please do your own research & judgment. With the baffle removed however it is LOUD! Like you can hear it coming from hundreds of yards away especially with some slightly spirited throttle. As for the weight I couldn't say exactly I wish I would have weighed the two to compare, But just going of feel alone the difference is huge in my opinion! And there is most definitely some some weight savings to be had by swapping out for this end can & pretty much all other brands of aftermarket end cans to be honest. Hope that helps, Ride safe
Nice one, very well explained. Many thanks for both this & your video on removing the rear wheel.
Thank you
@steveleegym thank you for the comment, glad you enjoyed it
I got a inline 4 it’s slow but I love the sound
I have a 2000 CB600F (naked) which has been parked up since the start of the pandemic. Decided it's past time I tried to get it running again, so very pleased to have found your channel - some useful guides.
Hi there, thanks for reaching out and for the kind words. I'm glad some of the content can be of some good use to you. Have you got much to do in order to recommission the bike?
@@thedbsworkshop1 Front fork seals are shot, looking at a refurbed yoke+fork set on eBay but first I want to make sure she's still turning over. Worried about rings sticking. Plan to take the plugs out (thanks for the vid) spray some WD40 in there a day prior, rock it in gear then try turning it over with the plugs out.
Ah right, iv heard alot of people saying to use genuine seals but I was on a tight budget so see how these after markets last. I had the top & bottom yokes powder coated locally for about £30 (aswell as other bits) & look so much cleaner. Glad the video could be of some use to you, you'll have yo let me know how you get on with the pistons.
@@thedbsworkshop1 Not going well. First my spark plug socket won't fit down the plug well (will have to order a thin wall socket). Then when I went to drain the tank nothing's coming out when I switch it to On/Reserve (with or without cap on) - is that normal? I have so many questions!
@ionwerks as for the fuel tank yes that's normal as the tap is vacuum fed, you'll either have to attach a hose to the small nipple and blow into it (which will take a while) or best to remove the fuel tap all together unless you fancy syphoning the fuel out (do at your own risk) *up coming video currently in edit 🙈*
Aeita kothai pawa jai vaiya❤
This is amazing. Only I'm missing the steel discs unfortunately.
Hi there thanks for your comment. Yes, the steel I had laying around wasn't the right size, so I ended up ordering some of Ebay cut to the size I needed think it cost about £6
Thanks for posting this, will be using this video to change my sparkplugs!
What size nut is it?😊
Agreed. YZ250x, my bike
Brilliant bike, I do love a yammi. Great choice also 👍, being around for over 20 years they have managed to refine the YZ platform with the X model & the wide range gearbox, can't beat a good 2 stroke imo 😀
@@thedbsworkshop1 Yeah the gearing is perfect for me as I don't do much MX riding anymore, mostly trail and some enduro riding, my bike is perfect for it and have had it for 4 years since brand new and still the most reliable bike I have ever had.
Superb video. Just followed your video to change the pads on my ST. Keep up the good work. Now onto your chain tension video for the next job.
😃 glad to hear, thank you for the comment & feed back much appreciated 👍 ride safe
Very helpful video, my bike wouldn’t fire up anymore. I suspected it might be the spark plugs because i drive mostly short distances. Changed them today and the bike fired up instantly
Oh brilliant, glad to hear it & and you're sorted now. Thanks for reaching out 👍 ride safe
Can I do this without the torque wrench
Yes, you could, I worked on bikes for many years in my younger days without one. But being very careful making sure to properly tighten up/secure fasteners properly. Also it's good practice to perform a short test ride then go over & re-check all the fasteners are all still tight & haven't moved. Although I would highly recommend the use of a torque wrench even a low-cost one as I've learnt over the years there is good reason to secure to OEM spec with different strength bolts/clamping forces or in some applications the use of stretch bolts(one time use) etc But of course any work on your own bike is at your own risk.
Great video. Clear, concise and understandable. Thank you.
That's great to hear thank you for reaching out & the feedback much appreciated 👍

Thanks heaps for that mate I’ve just bought a 2004 955 sprint st. This is really handy.
hello. What license plate holder does it have installed? and what exhaust pipe? you have a beautiful bike
Hi there, thanks for your comment. I am not sure on the licence plate holder as the bike came with the tail tidy pre-installed when I purchased the bike. But for the exhaust I have installed a delkevic can & link pipe (KIT29KA) delkevic.co.uk/triumph-sprint-st1050-2005-2007-225mm-oval-stainless-exhaust-kit-KIT29KA.html (It is loud!)
