Hands down an amazing story. If you noticed I had to stop to explain the biggest error people do while playing wild sorc because its an EXTRA thing the DM has to do and needs to be established ahead of time. I say this because I didn't get to enjoy ANY of the wild magic.

Rolling the d20 on your levelled spell casting to see if you're rolling on the Wild Surge table next is fine, but you never seem to get the natural 1 when you really want it. Using the Tides of Chaos feature to get a potential guaranteed Wild Surge roll is a perfect way to get it. My DM gave up trying to track when I'd used up my Tides of Chaos feature or not, and just had me roll on the Wild Surge table directly after using it. Combine this with the Feywild Shard to give you a guaranteed Wild Surge roll whenever you use Metamagic, and you fire off a ton of Wild Magic during a session. My DM was unsure if any Wild Magic was going to be a good idea, but quickly realised this makes the game hilariously insane!
