Me find this vessel Beautiful & owner/Captain just as beautiful I've fallen in love with both I'm from little Washington/Bath north Carolina. I've been around the Sea all me life.me wife of 23 years passed away 5 years ago age 42. @tedthesailor comment Like me, you should attend the Thames Traditional Rally in Henley in June or the Voiles de St Tropez in Sept each year where there are many, many successful renovations on display, often starting from a far worse condition than this. Thankfully people do exist with 'deep pockets' and a wish to preserve these old boats and at the same time preserving the boat builder skills to do the work.

I remember the Silver's yard at Rosneath/Clynder on the Gare Loch, McGruer were virtually next door. Silver built motor yachts and McGruer sailing yachts. They were both in production when I was a boy and I would look at the boats with envy from my clinker built gaff rigged dingy. Now the neighour is a bit more sinister, the UK atomic fleet is just along the Loch at Faslane.

Here's another of those dreadful dream-killers. It's "been in a drydock for years"..."recently given an overhaul in present ownership...work now sadly come to a halt..." Same old story. Why? Either the dreamer ran out of money, or ran out of life. "A vast amount of time and money has gone into the boat in recent years..." Yep, that sounds par for the course. And vast amounts more need spending. "A new custodian is required..." to carry on dreaming, and squandering their time and money until they're alike exhausted, and the hulk passed like a curse to the next schmuck with a dream and a wad of savings. Boatyards love these hulks. Once a dreamer turns up and gets hooked, they underwrite indefinite hours of costly labour and a brisk turnover at the chandlery. And there's no shortage of enthusiastic encouragement and advice! When, it were better that the thing had long ago been hauled off to a derelict quarter of the yard, where abandoned engines lie rusting amongst rampant nettles, then a gallon of petrol poured through a porthole, followed by a struck match...

Anyone care to speculate on the ballpark refurb cost to finish her?

The interior design looks like a 1950s suburban tract house, with the pink porcelain. 🤣 I do actually like the boat in many ways; she just needs a bit of a surface makeover.

Very handsome vessel. The pink porcelain maybe period correct but doesn’t quite stand up to the more modern improvements. A wonderfully useful classic that has clearly been well looked after.

What kind of bottom paint do they use for parking in mud like that?

That’s a proper boat. I wish I lived near by and had the money. I’m slowly rebuilding an old boat in New York . Who made the roller fullers and the running back stay levers? Man am I jealous.
