how to setting resolution
It's really great explanation. Thank you 😊
Great 👍
Hi many times later
Amazing 😊
very good
how do you make a window in the box?
Use the Pathfinder tool to subtract the window shape from the panel, then use Extrude and export the OBJ.
@@silvermoondesignschool thank you so much for replying! I had a job test and needed to create a funko pop package. Hope you can do a video with one of those as an example. Really appreciate your response.
@@silvermoondesignschool Also after the pathfinder and extrude, how would you include interior artwork through the window so you can see the inside?
I would place the panels of the box one by one in Dimension, adding the outside and inside graphics as I assembled.
@@silvermoondesignschool so want i use pathfinder to remove the window in illustrator. then in dimension Im able to add an inside graphic?
I have to take classes
How it works when you have an asymmetrical bottle?
That’s a tricky one! You might want to try tracing the full outline of the bottle and then using the Inflate tool. You could also experiment with the taper setting under Extrude. If you’re feeling stuck, I offer 1-on-1 virtual training where we can work through it together. Check out silvermoondesignschool.com for more details.
Thank you for the really great instructions. They are currently helping me a lot!
Yay! I'm happy to hear that.
Thank You so much for making this video, I subscribed immediately, please keep sharing more videos.❤👍👍👍
Hi, Hello; We learn a lot from your videos, I'm grateful for that. What could be the reason why a white line appears around the edges of the label when I put a label on the bottle I modeled?
When exporting you could have added a bleed by accident. Check your export settings. Also use PNG and not JPG.
@@silvermoondesignschool thanksss
Hi, Hello; We learn a lot from your videos, I'm grateful for that. What could be the reason why a white line appears around the edges of the label when I put a label on the bottle I modeled?
Are you exporting a JPG or PNG? A PNG might be a better option for the graphic.
In some way I can't change the resolution anymore... is that changed too?
Yes sadly you can’t set the resolution in numeral form, only via dropdown for low, medium, high
@@silvermoondesignschool ah ok, but luckily there is a way to escape low res renders. I'm gonna try it out...Thanx!
If I need 300 dpi, I'll render at the highest in Dimension as a PSD then increase it in Photoshop after. Best of luck!
Can you do a tutorial on embossing/debossing with gold foil using adobe dimension & photoshop? Thanks!
Thanks for the video!!😁
mam, how can I bring forward my lid
You can use the transform panel, or select the lid layer and use the arrows to move.
Just what I needed, creating sides with flaps... Thanks!
I can't find an answer or any thread about this, hoping you could, I updated to 4.0 and I can't change the base color of some materials, including a list of glass materials, is this intended or I am missing a step in changing base color?
I just checked Glass, and the Base Material color option is in the Materials tab under Properties. A lot of the functions are still in the program, but now hidden in menus since there are more options to customize.
I already learn by watching you 🥰
Thanks so much for sharing.....will try it out and come back to the comments ❤
Thank you for your tutorial! I'm having trouble with a FULL illustration mock-up the wraps around the back of the book with text on the spine, I'm curious if you have any tips for that cause I am strugglingggg 😬
You'll probably have to save out design in strips, like front, spine and back. Because there will be warping around the spine, having the spine artwork separate could help you skew to fit better. Then you can manually line up the front and back so it looks seamless. It will take some tweaking but it's possible!
You used to be able to set a dimension for output and to work inside 1920x1080 but it's gone! Help!
The canvas options are now set in the Cameras. Use the camera with the + icon to create a new camera, then adjust like before.
Thanks for the useful tutorial! I'm a fan of Dn and use it for simple mockups! It makes an extra impression! ❤
You 're a God send!! You don't know how long I wanted to do this... THANK YOU!
thank you so much for this video, very useful😍
Hi! Seems like if you import a png as texture for an 3d object, now it doesn't work anymore. Do you know why? My goal is to put that png as graphic on my object. In the previous version, it was so easy.... just import the pnj and that's all... What should I do now? tnx for everyone answering me...
Really helpful!! Thanks so much :)
I had a similar project. It helped me a lot lot. Thank you
Good job, madam. Thank you for your effort.
thank you so much !!!
That's fantastic thank you
Love your tutorials! thanks so much.
BIG THANKS!
SO glad I found this, finally something to get started with the updated version! I was going nuts trying to find the size of the document, bookmark views.... Great video, thank you!
great
Creative as usual. Thank you 👏
Thank you that was a great video tutorial. I appreciate the efforts you put in your videos. 👌.
great tutorial, i need it yesterday and now i see the tutorial. keep going sister.
Nice video! btw, do they remove glow?
Glow is treated as its own material now. If you search in the Starter Assets bar it will show up. You'll probably have to duplicate your object and apply glow to it. Weird choice by Adobe...
How to enable pivot point ? On object
Great job. Tell us please , how did you find the latest update of Dimension? Did you find any problem with the rendering?
Overall I'm happy with the additions. My biggest complaint is that Adobe removed the dpi settings from Environment and Rendering settings.
Hi, great video! But I can't find where change the resolution in dpi/ppi. Help me please!!
Sadly Adobe removed specific dpi capabilities in the update. Under preferences you can increase the default Substance material resolution, but we're down to full, 1/2 and 1/4 for resolution 😒
@@silvermoondesignschool What does the 'full' resolution mean? And what step in Ps to get higher res? thanks
@@pearliecreamcheese From what I've rendered, full = 72 dpi. In Ps, go to Image > Image Size and increase to 300 dpi from there. Experiment with the quality settings to pick one that fits your vibe, smooth vs pixelated.
@@silvermoondesignschool Only 72 is disappointing (and misleading!), I was hoping for at least 150, which is what I always use for web viewing... thank you, will try your workaround.😎
@@pearliecreamcheese I agree! I always use 300 dpi for my clients' final renderings so the extra step is annoying.
Another fine tutorial from you! I am amazed of how natural the top as a crystal looks in dimension. Two remarks: if the blue ring appears in Illustrator your are able to rotate the selected object on the fly with your mouse, also. That's quicker than adjusting numbers in the panel. As a guy also using Blender I would suggest speeding up a light situation, especially with refractions and AO by moving existing lights or adding additional ones. What I really like in 3D softwares like Blender that is the possibility to make a negative light, where you want to see more shadows. Such a feature would be great in Dimensions. I will have a look at it and if a white grid BG can be made a default ;) Update: it seems that you can only add fake new light by glowing objects. That's not good. This is no real light. No solution. Unfortunately a white grid/BG seems not to be set as a default. My workaround: make a MASTER blank document where you set everything to your liking/needs like a white BG, resolution standard camera view etc. and work in that MASTER document (of course save it as first as a brand-new name so you don't override your MASTER document).
The magic mouse makes scrolling in Adobe so hard 😅 But thank you for the tip! And we can add more lights in the Environment tab, I just like the three personally.
@@silvermoondesignschool Jah I know :) Had the struggle with the Magic Mouse, myself. Switched to Logitech MX Master 3 Mac Mouse. You never will go back to the Magic Mouse, after that. It works like a charm in all Adobe Softwares and has some extras like user programming the mouse various buttons. Cool Trick with adding real additional lights to the environment tap! Thank you!
13:18 it just be like this sometimes 🤣
😅 Just figuring things out as I go most of the time.
I have to know, what pc and specs are u using? I’m using windows pc and it take forever to render:(
I feel that - I had to upgrade this past winter when my 2018 slowed wayyyy down. My new one is a Nov 2023 Macbook Pro, 48GB Memory, M3 Max Chip.
@@silvermoondesignschoolwow👍 M3 chips.
@@silvermoondesignschool A powerful horse! 👍🏻
Thank you for your videos! I’ve been struggling with 3D stuff and mockups so you saved me:) looking forward to seeing more!!
Which version of Dimension are you using?
This tutorial was made before I updated to 4.0
@@silvermoondesignschool Ok, thanks :-) Than I understand why things look a bit different …
can you do an embossing tutorial with adobe dimension?
Embossing on paper? Can do!
@@silvermoondesignschool Yeah, and debossing as well!
Hello, Great video! May I ask where can I adjust the resolution dpi of the file? I can't find it 😭 thank you
Sadly it's been removed in this update 😕 We only have Full, 1/2 and 1/4 options. But with some tweaking in Photoshop we can get to 300dpi it's just an extra step.
