It's not that one is simpler than the other. They are just different schools. Below low level programming there's computer engineering and below that there's electrical engineering. There's more math the lower you go, but there's still an extremely high skill cap in high level programming. It's like building a house or paving a road vs city planning or architecture. They're different, but there's a lot of skills involved in both. An expert carpenter who own his own company and employs dozens of staff clearly has an advanced set of skills. It's inaccurate to suggest an architect is always going to be more competent or intelligent than a carpenter.

Reminds me of the first integrated circuit. Slow computational tasks like multiplication and division are stuffed into dedicated multiplier and Divider boards, and addition is performed by the data transfer board before it hits the primary CPU, enabling the board to add things in the ram before it even got to the CPU for comparing and evaluation, enabling the flight system to simultaneously perform four computational functions at once. which is pretty neat, and basically the perfect example of Low level integration of computation processes, because all of this was encoded into ROM chips to perform correctly.
