It's so said when I hear of young people who have no direction toward anything PRACTICAL but veer off into the arts... which will not support them in any practical way. I was lucky in that although I started out that way, I had a guiding hand that brought me back from it and I ended up in a very practical life with no financial worries. So I enjoyed the outdoors and a great financial life as well. I had no struggles after learning that life is more than art.

Your story is fascinating but it’s not in the cards for everyone. My dream is to move to Scotland but I don’t see that ever happening. I’m a 64 year old “homemaker” living in states, my husband won’t be retiring for several more years, and my 99 year old, very healthy, mother just moved in with us a few months ago. I don’t think my husband’s dream is to move to Scotland. He would prefer Wyoming or Montana but that’s not for me and our financial situation would not allow for either Wyoming or Scotland. I applaud anyone that can make it happen and does.

People are programmed robot slaves of the system thinking happyness starts with extern factors like status, money, material things, looks, lust.....all means nothing and its relativ and an illusion create by society. If your happyness depend on extern factors, you will never be happy because extern factors are endless. Thats why a lot of people buy stuff or look a certain way to create an illusion for the outside world out of emptyness.....sad. Happyness starts inside you. The more people around you, the more expectations, talk about others, lying, frustrations, negativity, jealousy, double standards, own benefits, hate, hypocrites, judgement, comparing etc..... reflection of their broken souls. Alone or in solitude you have more strength, peace, power, happyness, freedom and time to reflect and work on yourself in the here and now where the magic happens. No, not feeling superior or better then others but more be carefully and aware. Be the light in your own life.

What was the issue with the mix? It might be important to know if I am planning to build with rammed earth. Thank you for all your hard work and time to record these videos. I have always loved rammed earth construction and wanted to build with it. Your videos have reinvigorated that desire. Watching the course and in the raw and honest way that you have recorded it makes it seem more authentic, relatable and practically achievable. Especially since James does most of it by himself. It's nice seeing the modest, but essential plant and equipment needed to undertake these works. I would welcome more video as you continue. Sorry about your meddling Canadian government. Can't have a saw mill to mill your own trees. Which are renewable. And when you build with the wood the carbon is stored. Then you plant more cabon capturing trees. But you can drive a throw-away, earth poluting, electric car. Full of forever chemicals and unrecyclables and toxins. Go figure. But you need controlling, because you are trying to build a low impact in the construction and energy costs, ecofriendly home using dirt and wood from you own block. Anyway. Thank you

Thank you for sharing your story. I am just about to make this move myself. I lost both my parents in 2024. I took care of them for about 5 years. Now that I can, I am taking something they gave me as a child (a cabin life in the woods of MN), along with the legacy they left me, and I and two of my daughters and four of my grandchildren will be moving with me. I have no idea how to take care of chickens and I've only minimally gardened in my lifetime, but I will learn. One can learn just about anything if they put their mind to it. I'm so glad things turned out well for you and your husband. I too don't like living in the cities either (introvert) and I can hardly wait to get out and live the life I've always dreamed about.
