after you install it, in FL go to file settings, that panel will display a black button that says Manage Plugins click it, from there click the black button that says find installed plugins

it was a random poly synth in the UAD Polymax plugin

use both, but in this video because i did the eq and compression on the channel strip, it was a must to use the fader to gain stage things down. if i was just leveling then i would use the daw faders.

the 808 is in tune i used gutair rig to tune it

@@westsidelevelmixing What if the artist wants me to be the one that mixes both the beat and the vocals? do I mix the beat first then let the artist hop in or just work on the vocals over the unmixed instrumental that's only been gain staged and leveled?

@@nklasofficial in this case where you mix the whole song, no i would not mix the beat first, i would start with the drums, then level the vocals, and finsh by leveling the instruments, but there really is no rule as long as you level everything.

put the channel strip on every instrument not the buss, use dedicated compressors and eqs for buss treatment

yes it was gain staged at the begining of the video you will notice all the unbalanced tracks were playing and the master was not clipping, all so if you look at the meter on the ssl channel youll notice with each track all of them did not go past yellow, as far as the waves ssl channel it does add saturation to the tracks whenever the analog button is engaged that sounds much better than just using a clean eq, and as far as channel strips its one of the rawest ones out in my opinion.

ofcourse each element must have a diffrent level and its own place in the mix, gain staging is for starting your mix, you start with all elemtns at unity gain, and then begin to balance your mix

for gain staging, loudness should not be an issue, because you can simply turn up the level of your studio moniters or headphones to hear your tracks better, or put a limiter on the master track, as far as clean up eq after you do your eq, use the gain knob on your eq to simply level match the source sound, and you can see this here 08:56

@@westsidelevelmixing yes lol it's pretty standard. Gives u more control of the frequency. If it sounds good in Mono it'll sound good in stereo

no you use fruity gain then you would add your compression and eq, if you have a channel strip plugin in then you dont use fruity gain, you simply use the gain fader on your channel strip
