First thing know your fish species. That will help you with the law. The fish you caught is a Spot. Good to eat fresh, and makes great bait.
That was a spot, not a pinfish. Excellent cut bait. The second fish was a pigfish.

First rule surf fishing. Don’t lay your rod in the sand.
And it looks like you need to change your handle to the other side
You should have cut the pin fish up. Then you could have casted harder and farther. Or catch some little crabs.
Next time I go i definitely plan on doing more. Thanks for the suggestions and comments.
