That black lion sounds noisy like my fredenstein
I would like to build some 500 rig that would have a lot of color, saturation and grit, is this possible with the 500 series and what would you suggest? I thought that Lindell could probably give this with its input and output transformer, but not sure how clean and transparent it is.
500 vs rack is no different if you buy the exact preamp. Just the build/housing changes really. In my opinion you can fit more into a 500 series housing than you would in your rack. More room for options. The more the merrier. And in some cases, 500 units are cheaper than rack units.
As far as color/grit coming from the transformers of a 500 series housing itself... maybe. Defintley stick with a pure analog one. As far as I know they're super transparent man.. Get your color and grit from the preamps themselves!
Bro over compressed the fuck outta this shitty track 😂
when you are talking about preamps can you not ` mention big name artist ...most people don;t care about that ........feel like you are selling the black lion.........i don't black lion preamp nor do i care about big names .....not impress
Good. I'm going to keep mentioning big name artists! Haha. I'm not endorsed by any of these companies.

Have you guys started your first podcast?? What gear did you use and what was your setup like? Comment here, I want to hear how it went, and if this video helped you!
I’m loving the warmth and extended range of the WA12 MKII. I actually threw one into my rack yesterday to run a vocal mic and knew immediately that I was going to love it, especially when I hit that tone switch. So much character, which was what I was wanting in comparison to some of the more sterile preamps I had been using. One caveat is a noticeably higher level of preamp hiss compared to my other preamps, but nothing a little filtering couldn’t fix if you wanted. But the “color” of tone and saturation this preamp delivers sounds musical and sits very well in a mix.
Couldn't agree more, like you said its a "musical" character that the tone knob delivers.... especially on vocals! One of my favorite features on the WA12.
I have the auteur but considering the warm audio. It's got a bit more warmth than the auteur in your demo. The auteur has character a deffo adds nice sound to tracks I've recorded but think warm audio is a bit richer especially with the tone switch engaged. Nice playing too!
Thank you! Means alot. Give the WA12 a try, I guarantee you'll like it on all applications.
Just solder the tone knob on full time always. Sounded right everytime!
Haha, that is wonderful advice!
Warm Audio!!!
You know it! Very versatile in all aspects.
I love the Lindell plugins! Channel X is fab so I can only imagine how great the analog hardware is.
Never tried their plugins but thank you for the tip. Will have to look into them
Loved the riff at the end. BLA Auteur and Warm audio has wonderful character especially when listening to the riff at the end of the video.
Thanks alot brother! Means alot. And I do have to agree, both of the preamps do have a little character bump in em!
Hi, have you ever had chance to compare the to Cranborne 500 pres? I guess they weren’t out yet when you made this video! They are around the same price! Cheers!
Cranborne you say?? I have definitely been seeing those on Sweetwater. I'll throw it on the list for an updated shootout vid in the future.
faster switching between sounds would be nice
Will try for next time my friend!
The warm audio wa12 sounded the best in my opinion. All would work , but warm audio was the winner to my ears.
I see that the warm audio 500 series product is discontinued in their website. Is there any way to purchase them ?
Same here, it is a very versatile preamp. Almost works in any application and that tone selection is just beautiful on vocals.
@@jasperdany I had no idea their 500 models were discontinued. My best guess is used... reverb, eBay, etc. Good luck! I may try to find some too. Otherwise, they still have rack units. The 4 channel models are pretty popular and might be your best bang for the buck.
amazing video bro!
I appreciate it brother, I hope some of these methods help out!
I gotta bluey too. Amazing sound !!!
For sure man. Can’t beat it!
