This is my TH-cam area code to contain pictures and videos. I am a huge Marvel comics fan and have been collecting comics for over 50 years. As part of a basement renovation into my mancave, I decided to enter into the action figure hobby so I can pay homage to Marvel and their creations. Using products such as Hasbro Marvel Legends and Diamond Marvel Select action figures, Extreme-Sets & NECA Street dioramas, with a lot of Alex Ross art I was able to create these videos.
In 2021 I started Phase I of this mancave renovation project with the purchase of Hasbro's Haslab Galactus and I thought if I am going to go home, I might as well go big. By December 2022 Phase I will be completed with some minor exceptions of some action figures that have yet to be produced. Hasbro if you are reading this - please produce Mandarin; Doc Samson; Wizard; 1970's Adam Warlock; the Trapster; 1970's Falcon; the Executioner; and Attuma so that I can claim my mancave renovation project a success.

Hells Bells! Jay, my friend, you've really outdone yourself with this installment!! I think your production values have never been better! Synching the soundtrack with all these video cuts is really fabulous!!
WOW - thanks a lot for your humbling comments JM. This guy over here is a real amateur when it comes to taking videos - so I just wing it most of the time hoping that something will stick. Want to know a secret? The music was to be "Tubular Bells" from the movie the Exorcist but it got switched out at the last minute to his playlist.
@@JayWoods483 Well, I'm glad that you switched it! The Exorcist is my favorite horror film of all time, but it scars the crap outta me! I might not have been able to watch your video!! LOL!!
@@johnmorrissey4106 Oh that movie still gives me chills. And I couldn't hear that music for too much longer - it was driving me insane!
Dude fantastic collection, it was difficult to watch because of that camera pulling effect but still the room looks great.
Thanks a lot I really appreciate your comments. Sorry for the difficulty, I am NOT a videographer by any stretch of the imagination (if ya can't tell already). I'm just an average joe trying to capture the basement in the best way I can. Thanks again.
Cool way to display !
thanks man
Where are those omnibus dividers from, Woody? DJ Customs Creation on ebay? I couldn't find them. Did I mishear you, or is the seller gone? Anyway, thanks for these, Woody!! I never thought that you'd prepare these so quickly after my request! Did you preorder a Giant-Man? If so, where is he going?!?
HEY JM - The sign company is TJ Customs Creations or tjcc for short. I was thinking of these videos just right before your request so I had a head start. I couldn't order Giant-Man simply because I have so little room for one.
LOL!! You're considerng changing y0ur name because of all the meatballs inside you!! LOL!! You'll be happy to know that joke caused me to shoot seltzer out of my nose! To make matters worse, it hit my cat! She is not happy with you.
Hey Woody, where did you get that galaxy-looking backdrop? My Galactus needs one badly! Is it a shower curtain or a window curtain or a walo hanging or what?
I am laughing so hard!! How many trips to Taco Bell (and then the bathroom) would it take to get through the Annihilation omnibus?!?
I love that lighted cylinder that Wolvie is in! I bought one from Asia, not knowing that I had to put it together when it arrived. Because I'm not an electrical engineer, it's still in the box!
Ahahahaha - I'm a network engineer by profession. it was a bit like building a model kit. Something I haven't done since Regan was President. I didn't hook up the LEDS because to change the batteries means taking down the display - which I would rather not do.
You are SOOO funny! I am sure glad that you're NOT hanging in the dining room!!
I was "TOLD" that as long as my hobby remains in the Nerd-Cave I am allowed to live in my house.
Woodie! You dropped 10 of these at once?!? You are too good to us!! Thanks!
I was thinking of your request the whole time doing it. The most difficult thing to do was trying to think of something to say without making it sound like I am a complete moron.
👍
thanks - I appreciate it
Do you take requests, Woody?!? My favorite of your videos is the walk-through that you did about a year ago. It was so interesting, and your deadpan sense of humor is wonderful ("Galactus is almost taller than my wife"). But I wnat more! I need more info! So here's my request... a new video, or series of videos, that are slower, more detailed walk-throughs. I'd like a still frame on each separate diorama, or a very slow pan, with you describing every aspect of the scene. Why you chose it, why you chose the characters in it, where did you get (or how did you make) the props in the scene, etc., etc. I request this because I have so many quetion about your amazing and beautiful displays! Why do you have two JJJs shouting at each other? Why do you have so many helmets (or heads?!?) surrounding Doctor Doom? Oh, Woody, so many questions! Imagine one 15-minute video per scene, complete with your voice over, your humor, info info about your choices... I would love it!
Finally. A request. I've been waiting a long time for one. I love your idea. A genuine narrated walkthrough is long overdue - do great minds really think alike? You got it! I'm thinking maybe a 10-part series, about 5 minutes for each video on an exclusive diorama? Sounds good? Galactus. Wife. I still get flack from the lovely missus ya know. Might need to get Big G to zap her with some cosmic force soon. Questions (and if you got more - please let me know) 2 JJJ's is actually JJJ & the Chameleon going nose-to-nose. Helmets, masks and heads (even Wolvie's hands/claws) are artifacts the bad guys collected. Like Odin's vault had been breached. Thanks for your request/comments. I really appreciate them. Watch for the next set of videos "upon request" .
@@JayWoods483 You spoil me!!
Woot! Woot! Another video from Jay Woods!! Happy Day!!!
Ahahaha - glad you enjoyed it - thanks for the comment - I'm a novice to video making so I am waaaay out of league here.
Great video. Loved the displays and dioramas. Where did you get your flight stands? Got some on Amazon but they are not very good.
Thanks man I really appreciate it. I get my flight stands from Amazon too. Basically NECA, Tamashii Nations Stage 4 or 5 and some other generic versions from XISTest. The best I've used come from Mafex - there good.
@@JayWoods483 Thanks, I will check those out.
The greatest action figure display i've EVER seen!😮 Congratulations, my friend!!!😀
Thanks man, that means a lot to me. I've only been collecting for three years, but within that time I was able to get this created. It kind of helps that the little missus was after me to decorate the basement.😯Well, there is no turning back now
Oh, good sounds playlist put together, also.
Thanks - it's a lot more difficult getting songs that fit together then I thought. And I am a complete newbee with video taking too.
😮Nice digs, Dude. "Toy Room"? I would say you're over 50. "MAN CAVE" is more modern. You got sports stuff, too. I like your dioramas. The "Universe" is in your house. Thanks for sharing👏🏼.
Ahahaha Thanks for your comments I do appreciate it - yeah, I'm kind of Football and Hockey nut. The "Universe" is quite a pain to clean tho. Fawkin dust and cobwebs drives me insane.
Tight production
Thanks - I can't take a video worth a damn but I am trying!
And who was the civilian standing at the feet of Galactus? Was that Jack Kirby? Rick Jones? You?!?
Oh why can't ML make a Rick Jones? That would be a very sweet addition. It is Jack "The King" Kirby at Galactus' feet. I got one from Neca. Me? Well, at this age I look more like Stan these days then Jack. Ahahahaha. One other thing about your previous comment - it is a really good feeling to know that someone else "gets it". Now, if I can just convince the wife.....
A masterpiece, Woody! What's my favorite part?!? I'd like to say The Impossilbe Man patting Howard the Duck on the head. No, I'd like to say the area where Ben and Bruce and Donald are transformed into the Thing and Hulk and Thor. No, my favorite part is the Woody doll slumped on one shelf because I imagine that is how you looked after you set all that up!!
WOW! What can I say but thanks a lot for your very appreciated comments. Knowing your comments come from a fellow Marvel fan means even that much more. Impy and Howard just had to be included as I think both represent the humor Marvel has. Oh, the Transformation display have my three favorite Marvel heroes, if ya can't tell from their books in the library. Ahahahaha the Woody doll - great pickup - having lived with the nickname Woody all my life I just had to include him - and what is Woody without a Buzz???? Setting it all up was daunting but fun as hell - now if I can just do something about the figures falling down.......or the dust.....or the cobwebs.....sheesh now THAT gets me slumping. Thanks again.
@@JayWoods483 LOL! Yes, standing figures back up is my (unpaid) part-time job!
Puts my sad little wall to shame.
JJ2318 - thanks man - Real estate. The collector's beast of burden. The wall may be little as long as your imagination is big.
cool collection !
Thanks man, I appreciate it.
Enjoy the figures with dioramas. Rarely seen in collectibles rooms. :) 👏👏👏
Thanks I really appreciate your comment. The inspiration from the dios comes from trying to get the "action" in action figures. As you could probably tell I got a thing for Marvel. 😄
Thanks for sharing Action Figure Land lol. So far GI Joey's Terrain diorama is comparable impressive! I did my very first Marvel/DC minis at the beach lol!
@@soshiderek I'd love to get into GI Joe/Action Force but unless I hang them from the ceiling, I just haven't got the room!! I'm old enough to play with the Joes from the 70's - wanna talk about playing on the beach - whoa that was a load of fun.
Ceiling dio hmm? Haha! My fav was Blaster but not a fan of the middle elastic. The environment really does enhance the figures. Already have plans for next dio. But need to figure out space.

@@JayWoods483 Welcome, and thanks, you too. :D
Cool
Thanks bud, I really appreciate it.
The addition of diorama pieces from @greekstyledioramas I discovered on ebay enhanced my Galactus display and finalized the entrance of the villains diorama. I also picked up special effects from @canobeams to use on the Heralds of Galactus to represent their cosmic forces. Some Marvel Legends I pre-ordered from #Nerdzoic should arrive in time for next month's update. I also should be getting ArcAngel from Diamond Marvel Select as well. Finally, some more pieces from @greekstyledioramas should arrive to complete the dioramas.
This is dope sir
Thanks JJ2318 - I really appreciate it. As you can see I kinda like Marvel a little bit.
@@JayWoods483 😆
In the last month I received some diorama pieces on Ebay from a seller - geekstyledioramas. I also got more special effects from Can of Beams. Planned for June is to finish off all of the dioramas, meanwhile there are some pre-orders from Marvel Legends, Marvel Select, and Mafex that should arrive. I can now see a light at the end of the tunnel for this basement renovation project.
The dioramas I used to make this video are: 1) Stan Lee and his Amazing Friends - Vertigo Toys; 2) Civil War - Extreme Sets Deranged Alley and Neca Street Originals; 3) World War Hulk - Extreme Sets Arena 3.0; 4) Alpha Flight vs. X-Men - Extreme Sets J-806M; 5) Annihilations - Extreme Sets Sector 07; 6) Transformations - Extreme-Sets Rooftop. Special Effects by Tamashii Nations. With so many Marvel characters getting action figures in 2024, these dioramas are going to change pretty significantly by the time this renovation project is complete. I am also in the middle of upgrading certain action figures to a modern variant of the character.
Let me be more precise UTOPIA
Good guess, I had to go back and listen to Utopia again (been awhile) and I see why this song reminds you of it.
I LIke the music if I'm not wrong that's TODD RUNDGREN
You've got quite an ear, chances are the two of us could gab and listen to music for a very long time. This is a song called "Fool's Overture" by Supertramp.
I love your transformation display i don’t think I’ve ever seen any one do that and your cosmic hero display is sweet your only missing an Adam Warlock Hell of a collection space looks like heaven
Thanks, I really appreciate your kind words on my displays. The transformation display is incomplete without a proper pilot to go for the Ben Grimm. Currently my Action Force Desert Rat is playing the role of Grimm - but the Rat really belongs on my desk. I "pre" the Marvel Select Annihlus for the display. Oh would I love an Adam Warlock for the cosmic heroes. What does ML have against Adam anyway?
very nice collection....I world build with legends too on my channel
you have some of the best displays on YT
@@JayWoods483 thanks dude !
What’s the background tune playing ? I like how you’ve displayed the power effects
Thanks for your comments they are truly appreciated. I took three songs that had a similar tempo and added them to the video. The songs are (in order) 1) Black Sheep - Metric (from the soundtrack to the movie Scott Pilgrim vs. the world; 2) You Oughtta Know - Alanis Morrisette (from the album Jagged Little Pill); 3) Mandinka - SInead O'Connor (from the album the Lion and the Cobra). I believe all three are on Spotify. The power effects are from Can of Beams. They have some really good stuff.

Can of Beams special effects. I saw them in a video and was soon replacing most of the Kirby crackle and bent plastic blasts with them. I love the work they do.

@harryrao4296 - Good question, I never thought of that - most of my faves are represented 3 times, however the Silver Surfer is in 4 dioramas.
Jaywoods483 what do you think three most produced characters within marvel legends as a line? out of interest

Woody... may I call you Woody? I am so very glad that Jeffrey Lyles told his subscribers to check out your channel. You are wonderful! This video was hysterical ("Galactus is almost as tall as my wife") and heart warming. My story is similar to yous; I bought my first comic off the spinner rack (Amazing Spider-Man #102) in the fall of 1971, and I've been hooked ever since! Like you, I'm a big fan of the Buscema brothers, and also John Romita the elder. Anyway, I just wanted to check in to let you know that I have watched scores of collection tours on TH-cam and yours is my very favorite by far! If you ever find yourself in Central Virginia, please let me know so that I can give you a personal tour of my collection! Thanks for this, John.
I cannot express how much I appreciate your words. Simply put, I am quite humbled. Woody is fine by me! Spidey #102 was my first Mobius (by-the-by a figure yet to enter my collection...yet) is filled with Gil Kane and Frank Giacioa goodness. And to think the Lizard makes the comic even that much unique. I didn't mind paying the extra 5 cents for it either. Central Virginia? The cradle of the U.S.? I am a big U.S. history buff. Central Virginia is one of the regions I have read so much about due to its richness in history. Roanoke. Appomattox. etc. I'm from Canada, and when I retire (soon) my intention is to invest in a winter residence and Virginia is my first destination. Your winters are so much more tolerable then mine are. And when I get down there, please note I will be contacting you and hopefully a visit can be arranged. I would love to drop off some authentic Canadian Maple Syrup, whiskey, and beer. We can gab about comics until we are exhausted and you kick me out back up to Canada.
Woody, I'll be counting the minutes until your arrival! I live in Lynchburg, not far from the Appomattox courthouse, so using my house (AKA The Marvel Mansion) as a hub for your visit seems perfect!

What?!? Top five from the '70s?!? Why don't you ask me something simple, such as walking from here to Canada and back! I can't possibly choose from all my children! But I will say that I HATE Spidey #122! I was in LOVE with Gwen, and I could NOT believe the last panel of issue #121. And then... I MISSED issue #122. I swear I went to the store every day, but missed it anyway. And then I got issue #123 and was stunned! I was certain that she wasn't dead... but she was. And so was Gobby! @@JayWoods483 That's awesome. The cadence and easy you were speaking felt like you were reading off a well thought out script. Nice job. I feel like when I do a solo show I sound more rushed but you kept it cool the whole time.
@@thestrongcollectors Rushed? Nah!!! Thank you so much for your very thoughtful and considerate comments. Coming from one who is in front of the camera performing, I am truly humbled. Taking inspiration from characters such as yourselves granted me the confidence that I can just be myself for about 20 minutes. 19 minutes too long for some!
@@JayWoods483 It gets easier the more you do it. I need to practice with some more solo shows because those still get me really nervous.
@@thestrongcollectors I can't thank you enough and yet you still encourage me with more advice. I cannot imagine how much practice you must perform for a solo show. Agreed that such is foreign considering the amount of times you both share, there is absolutely no appearance of your nervousness when the role of The Strong Collectors is played by one.
Good looking and overall clean display. May I suggest Mylars for those Alex Ross comic covers on the wall? Should reduce the wrinkles and give a better appearance.
Thanks for your comments they are really appreciated. Being a rookie at this game I can use all of the suggestions I could get. Mylars are an excellent idea - thanks a lot - I am going to get some for the Ross posters.
