Don't let dealerships or car repair shops rip you off by charging outlandish prices to make this simple repair.

Replacing alternator 2011 Suburban
มุมมอง 858ปีที่แล้ว
Replacing an alternator sounds like a daunting job but with the right tools and a little research, you can likely tackle this job and save yourself the cost of having a mechanic do it. Today I'm replacing the alternator in my 2011 Suburban. The 2007-2014 Suburban, Yukon, Tahoe, Yukon XL, Silverado, Sierra, and Escalade all have the same engine setup so these instructions apply to them as well.

You were exactly right and made the job easy, Thank You. The only issue was those two little pieces where the front screws are, they were not tight and kept dropping down. I used two little pieces of duct tape to hold them in place while screwing, but gosh you made it so easy.

@@NoHandlesRequired Awesome! I'm glad this helped. I did have a little trouble with those metal pieces as well. Had to cut that out of the video because of some colorful language. 😆 Wish I'd thought of taping them. Great idea!

You made it look easy enough and in less than 15 minutes. I will attempt mine after work today, but I feel as though my job will be like wrestling a crocodile and walking away with battle scars.

Any idea on the bolt size and nut you used about to do one of these

I'm sorry, I don't know what size bolt and nut. I just reused what was already there but a parts store should be able to look that up for you pretty easily.

@@fixit.kickit.or.burnit I got it just gave it a good wiggle back and forth before removing it Then pressed a little with flat pliers and it was just enough new one dropped right in and running strong . Found out it needed a battery as well lol 😂 but it’s driving. Next up plugs wires and coils who ever had it put cheap ones in and it idles wrong at lights . Needs the ac delco platinum plugs . Easy fix . Gets annoying because stability track and tc go into safe mode and light up because un even throttle at lights . No check engine light so hopefully will cure it’s little hiccups

@@StrickleeFpv Recently I had some strange things happening with stabilitrac and other things flashing randomly and not having power from the battery to anything. Read where the battery cables were to blame. I wiggled the positive cable and power came on. I replaced it and have had no more trouble. It's a known issue and you can't even tell the cable is bad from the outside. It corrodes inside the casing. Just thought I'd throw that out in case you have similar symptoms in the future.
