It's a freaking miracle nobody has ever pushed the button, by mistake or by desperation or dictatorship, or even worse a religion.. And most of the World population is totally unaware that this planet could be destroyed in 30 Minutes since the 1950's... While everyone goes about making coffee in the Morning and goes to work, these weapons are a constant treat to mankind, the planet and creation.. We should feel deeply ashamed, because everybody is so into humanity lately, with human rights and gender rights. It's all about perception.. Nuclear Weapons keep this World and every living being in a hostage situation. Nobody ever gave them the rights East or West Nato or The Soviets. If you are so much involved into climate change and such. Well maybe you should focus your perception to more important things...

Apparently the people who made this ridiculous farce forgot that NATO article 5 exists, and that the U.K. and France have ICBM's. That the U.S. has hundreds of bases straddling the planet, some of them with nukes and the means to deliver them. That the dozens of surviving subs had MIRV's. That nuclear silos are designed to withstand a nuclear attack (we might lose some, but 954 out of 1000 is not remotely realistic). That we had B-52 wings stationed in Alaska and elsewhere outside the continental U.S. (including Europe). That we actually patrol our coasts methodically, and were aware of the subs out there (one of the first things the General was told), which would have taken us to a higher DEFCON level, and gotten us airborne much sooner. All in all a nonsensical production.

What sort of psychological medical examinations do these military personnel have to go through to be allowed to perform the duties that one day they may have to carry out knowing that millions of people will perish as a result of their actions plus also realising that their very own families have a incredibly minute chance of surviving due to incoming ICBM'S from aggressive countries!!!! how do they get their heads around such horror.... The only rational gain anyone can achieve in such circumstances and many god knows how many people will disagree with this is... financial gain will be obsolete.... BUT POWER WILL BE PRICELESS regardless of how its viewed!!!!

22:30 and that is the reason why there is the word "overkill". You can't have only enough weapons to destroy the enemy only once. You must consider that a reasonable amount of weapons will be destroyed or intercepted. Sadly I did not know that when our high school teacher told us how insane it is, having the term overkill... he was completely wrong.

I worked at a B-52 base for six years. Did a year at a remote fighter interceptor base in Alaska and another two years at one in Iceland. I must have witnessed at least a dozen exercise scrambles for B-52s plus one real world due to a computer glitch. And, I witnessed six fighter scrambles to intercept Russian Bear bombers bumping up against our Air Defense Zone. In all that time and during all those several scrambles not once....as in not one single time....did I ever see aircrews running for their planes. That kind of nonsense is pure Hollywood. These crews are trained professionals. They understand it's important to get there promptly but they also understand they can't do anybody any good if by rushing they crash their vehicle and hurt themselves or others; or, if while sprinting all out as depicted here they trip and fall on that concrete possibly injuring themselves to a point where they can't complete the mission. It is an absolute disservice to the professionalism that exists and is a part of these alert crews' DNA to show them running around like a bunch of scared and scattered cats.

West coast SLNBM 8 mins to detonation. If if was a "normal" ICBM launch, the 28 mins clock starts. This a test...well thankfully this scenario was just that. I can't imagine that the Soviets/Russians would be so successful in this day and age. I imagine that our own retaliation would be just as successful as the strikes against the U.S. with Russian military and oil producing sites as targets. Everyone's ass is grass in the event of a nuclear exchange. Survival for what?
