    Saludos amigo.Poseo varias navajas cómo estás que muestra y son unas excelentes piezas y asequibles económicamente.Yo también prefiero las de seguro trasero pero hay que reconocer que la de pistón también es segura por lo fuerte que es el muelle.Grandes navajas para toda la vida.Buen video!!!

    What is the blade steel?

    • @jockemedkniven1
      @jockemedkniven1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is MoVa, it says: "Molybdeno Vanadio" on the blade. I don't know the specifics of this steel, but I think Muela uses it quite regularly. Blade is quite thick and keeps the shapness well so far. I hope this helps 😊

    I bought that knife and the steel is terrible! It will not hold an edge. And they used to make that knife with brass and now they go with cheap aluminium guards. All their old knives had nice brass guards and now all they use is cheaper aluminium or steel guards. They have gone down hill.

    I WOULD NEVER BUY A BOWIE KNIFE WITH STAG HANDLE.YES THAT IS A BEAUTIFULL KNIFE BUT I AM SURE THE TANG IS THE SIZE OF AN ICE PICK.NOT FOR ME.I WANT A TANG THATS ALMOST A FULL TANG..

    • @jockemedkniven1
      @jockemedkniven1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your comment. I agree! For hard use probably a full tang, but no problem.

    • @oldeays5085
      @oldeays5085 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      All combat knives are hidden tangs! And swords are too. My model 1-7 is a hidden tang and it's still strong! I used to think that way too. But, until I tried to break em and it's still very hard to. So, if you want something stronger than that, get an axe! 😂

    • @MsOlmec
      @MsOlmec 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The problem it is not the fact that it is not full tang. The issue it is the horn handle that dont give you a good grip at all because horn or bone make bad handles. Ani way beautiful to hang on the wall at home

      Ive been told the same by many friends. They're very famous here in Costa Rica. I will get the a version since it seem more sturdy with the thing at the end of the handle.

    Is it full tang???

    • @jockemedkniven1
      @jockemedkniven1 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not sure if this is referred to as full tang, but I believe the tang goes through the full length of the handle and is fastened in the end nob or pommel, like the older German made bowies and hunting knives.

    Very nice knife.... Have you seen the Polar 2 hunting knife i think they are also made in Zlatoust i have a Polar 2 ordered just waiting for it to arrive...Good video ,Thanks

      Jolly Peanut Thanks for your nice comment. No I have not seen the Polar 2, but it seems like a good choice and a more practical size than this one. I can feel this one is too big for the hunting chores.

    Hi, great video. I love Zlatoust knives but unfortunately could only find expensive ones of £300-£700 which is way too much for any tool in my opinion. I've recently found one for about £75 and was wondering if you could give some feedback on it. Heres the link mygoodknife.com/index.php/bekas.html

    • @jockemedkniven1
      @jockemedkniven1 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, thanks for your feedback! I'm in no way any expert on knives and this is the only Russian one I have, so unfortunately I can not give any feedback on the Bekas knife. However it looks like a handy knife in just the right size. I think the Taiga is a little too large to be the best choice for hunting. I guess the quality and finish of the knife you showed is as good as any of their other models. I totally agree that one should not need to spend that much on any tool. I found some other nice models from Zlatoust for around 100-150 EUR on this german page: www.empire-knives.de/Hersteller/A-R/

      Hello Inkognitoleg! I would definately say that they are worth the money.. I don't really know anything about these knifes.. and from what I understand they are sold under different brands (A&O, Rosarms, etc..etc...) I am not sure if they are manufactured in different factories or workshops or if they are made in one factory. The styles and blades, pommels, handle materials all look the same as if they came from the same factory. I can not give you an expert answer as I do not know much about steel quality or specifications. I have not seen or felt other Russian knives than this one. What I can tell you from a quality point of view is that my opinion (based on this knife) is that they are high (top) quality. I also have a Linder Yukon bowie and also a Muela Sarrio 19s. The knife I would take into the woods would be this one. It is thick and well made.. you can feel it is made to last. The finish is flawless. Everything is symmetric, the edge is sharped well, and there is no glue, threads or other residue on the knife. Everything has been polished and ground prefectly. The sheath is still good, but a bit plain compared to the qualiity of the knife. The Linder Yukon and the Muela Sarrio are still top quality, but this looks and feels better IMO. I would not compare this to other Russian products.. Any further questions are welcome :) I hope this was helpful :)

    Bought mine back in 07 and among everyone I meet who try to show off their knives to me . I show them the handmade Russian knife none of them have a idea what it is

  • @jockemedkniven1
    @jockemedkniven1 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for the comment! It's hard to find info about these so I just had to post a video. Yes, the quality is unlike the usual russian stuff. This is really top quality and the knife is made to be used, not just to kept as decoration on the shelf. :) I understand that the steel is suppsed to be good but I don't know much about it. The knife is pretty sharp, but not super sharp. I was still able to shave the hair off my arm with it. Cheers!

    Thanks for the video! Glad someone finally made a video on this great company. Would love to get this knife some day, I've seen their quality and it looks fantastic. They use a great steel and heat treatment as well. How sharp did yours come?
