If the Quickset is unable to be set up because of the tuck under hood, then the Pro6 or Little Buddy would come out for us (or we would call someone to come out and assist). Some installers in our area even prefer setting with the Set-Stick for these large windshields that go under the hood so far. The easiest to use when all by yourself would be the Little Buddy Pro 2 in my opinion, I used it for years and loved it. It costs a good amount, but don't skimp, buy new every time, stay away from eBay as those tools are always in need of repair.

We have found that due to the curve of the top molding that if we do not remove half of the clips, the opposite end chrome will scratch the roof of the vehicle. That is correct, to reattach, just align and push down. Should hear a clicking noise.

Normally we would have but that was not a baby seat. At 7:26 you can see it is a folded cover for a baby stroller.

For us, no metal object is to touch the paint. Only the plastic or rubber part of tools may rest on the paint. The side trim were also 100% plastic. We do sometimes put those inside the vehicle if working outside where the wind might be strong.

I do not for the auto glass business, but I'll get one next week.

Yes, I ran into this with the 2018-2020 Acura MDX. It's like the camera is using lidar or lasers and can not properly see through the aftermarket glass

Yes, the glass can be removed without breaking it. However, that plastic trim "exterior D pillar" (applique panel) is removable without taking the glass out. Unless you are talking about the rubber encapsulation on the glass... if so, the encapsulation is part of the glass and cannot be replaced (buy new glass). But to answer your question, yes, the glass can be removed. I recommend contacting several auto glass shops in your area, explaining the situation, and getting a quote from them. I like to use the "Spider 3" from WRD to remove the glass (piano wire technique), cuts the glass out nicely without damage to your vehicle or the glass. If you use blades, use them from the inside, remove the trim, and tape the glass to prevent scratches. Piano wire technique is recommended over blades.

Junk yards will sell you a quarter glass cheaper than buying a new glass, just trim the old Urethane off using a razor blade and clean the glass. Most yards have the ability to remove the glass using heat or an extractor.

I’m demoing my Tahoe to use the frame as a truck. My 1/4 windows are perfect. To separate the body from the lower pan, I’ll probably cut it through ABCD pillars. Therefore the glass needs to come out. Wish me luck!

Urethane doesn't bond to paint and jobs where we have gone behind other glass shops who didn't use primer the urethane pulls off very easily by hand. We follow industry standards and manufacturing specs when it comes to 5504G and U428+. Primer protects the vehicle and secures the windshield, protecting occupants if the vehicle is to be involved in an accident.

Any car with a camera needs to their safety systems recalibrated

From a safety standpoint, you need to have ADAS sensors that are attached to the windshield recalibrated every time the glass is replaced. Sure, the sensors might work fine after installation, but you won't know until something happens that requires that sensor to engage and do what it's programmed to do. Recalibration is the only sure and safe measure. If using insurance, they will cover the cost of recalibration after the deductible has been met.

​@keithneal9422 We currently do not film the recalibration process. The process contains personal information of our customers. If we posted a video we would have to delete or blur out anything that showed the tablet screen. However, photos can be viewed of our static recalibration on Instagram.

@@MetroGlassLLC I got you and understand. Check this out. I just bought a 2024 Silverado 1500 LTZ. Bigtime loaded with cameras and electronics. With the big box behind my rear view camera mirror. I think I have rains sensors etc. and I have Heads up Display. I don’t know what all is in that box. Caught a rock that cracked windshield. Truck is 3 weeks old. 🥲 your video gave me hope that chevy is capable of replacing it. And everything to be ok. They’ve ordered me a genuine GM windshield. And I’m waiting. Thanks for the video. It made me understand better. This truck is a replacement for my 2500 that was totaled by an oak tree in May. Had 2500 miles. The ledge is gettin close. lol appreciate.

That's better than our usually background noise being in Jackson, MS.... car alarms, neighbors yelling, drive by shooting right next door and the owner laughing when we didn't flinch. Yes, the truck is going through some reorganization. Used to have a "general" tool box that stood up and faced the door with pull out drawers. But several years of use wore down the locks and the drawers kept opening up while driving and slap our door glass when turning. So we have been switching out to Dewalt toughsystem.
