I'll be there!
Me too!
I love that Spud is doing more cross gaming!
I think I've seen him at Belegarth a little more than Amtgard the last few months.
Dwarf arrives on event site. In the distance, growing louder as it gets nearer, chanting: DWARF, DWARF, DWARF, DWARF!
I've heard that chat on site before!
just do HEMA
Nothing wrong with HEMA, but this is diffrent and fun. No reason to dictate what game people do to have fun.
Also hema is significantly more expensive.
I understand the culture is way different, but it's a bummer to see all those white belts in shorts for a ceremony.
Not meaning to put words into their mouths but to add to the culture difference most of those knights without pants come from Texas and are sword knights and there has been, in the past, a "jock" mentality where garb and pomp and ceremony feels less important.
@@Baelnorn I understand, and for fighting that's whatever. But for a ceremony it's just a bummer.
Fair enough! Although, I have to admit, I'm guilty of not wearing pants, but I'm trying to be better.
@@Baelnorn You could always split the difference and wear a kilt!
That would look very awkward with the jean pants I wear under my garb!
Awesome!! Is this near portland Oregon area?
It's not. This was taken in Ashland, OR, about a 4 or 5 hour drive south of Portland, but there are Portland area foam fighting groups if you're interested in checking it out. Let me know if you want if you're interested and I can provide you with some links to some of the groups.
I don't know you personally, but I absolutely love your videos. Your videos are a lifeline to me.
That's incredibly kind of you to say. It means a lot to know they make a difference in your life.
I wish you a very speedy recovery from whatever ailment is causing this. God be with you, and may you find the strength to break the cycle.
Thank you. I appreciate the well wishes.
I'll see what I can do to help in a few weeks. Got alot going out right now but I may be able to chip something in before Christmas. I'll be in touch bro. Rock on 😎
That's very kind of you, thank you. No worries if you're unable to, I don't want anyone to put undo hardship onto themselves on my account.
Having fun, nice to see!
It's great fun! I love playing my foam fighting. Thanks for the comment!
This is my first time watching a video like this and I have to say it's pretty epic!!!🔥🔥💯
Thank you! I'm glad you found the channel and I appreciate that you liked it so much you even subscribed!
this channel is sick as hell brother. love seeing people showing that kid at heart.
Thank you, I appreciate it, playing the game is pretty fun and a great way to get some exercise.
y'all need a got dang referee to call those hits, dude shouldn't have to be worried about the calls when you're fighting for your dang life
It would be nice, it can get hard to fight with armor and make sure you take all your shots. Sometimes you don't feel them.
Tournaments have referees. But that's to ensure people aren't cheating. For our game the rules require folks acknowledge hits. It can be a lot to think about, especially when you're new to wearing armor.
bro in the full chain mail is BEAUTIFUL SPORT
HECK YES BROTHERRRRRRR
I was there watching the event! Such a fun community
Nice! I'm sure they appreciated an audience. I remember a few people coming to watch!
Sarah let me know if you're interested in watching the local practices!
This just shows how difficult wearing, but more importantly calling, armor can be over long periods of time.
For sure! I've rarely fought in armor but I imagine it would be particularly hard to call some flail shots against metal armor. They tried their best though and kept the communication up!
This was an awesome video to watch as a new Belegarth fighter. Thank you!
That's awesome, I'm glad you found it useful! There are a few more instructional videos from SKBC you might find useful too, especially the two sword and polearm videos.
HEY I KNOW THOSE GUYS
Lol, so you do!
Friends and family!
Love seeing all the shield fighters.
People do love there shields!
Great interview! And thanks to my squire Dwarf for the shoutout! LOL.
Thank you, I had fun doing it!
Man I come from amtgard and belegarth and he's spitting straight facts belegarth is it own nature vs amtgard but both larps are amazing
I agree, both games a pretty fun.
Wow. White belt with the torch shield is a sluffer. First girl to come in and fight on this clip, takes his leg, possibly high enough to get his cheek and he doesn't even take it.
They're doing leg on death. Not sluffing, just a respect thing. He even takes her leg at the same time and he tells her not to take it.
Good catch. There was some fights where leg shots weren't counted, I see that a lot with travelers from Texas areas.
What is the length requirement for a short in Amt?
18 - 36 inches.
Benoit almost had em
Man I was there, and I'm bummed I didn't get in on this pit.
It was a good pit, but people were still line fighting so you might not even have noticed it.
Whoever has that blue and red garb in the back pit at the beginning of the vid. That garb is amazing.
That is Sir Clalibus, he's pretty good at making garb as well as fighting.
@@Baelnorn Rad!
Nice shields
They are pretty solid!
The Belt is BOSS.
It is pretty bad ass.
Ask the questions!
🥰
"Yay!" Ha 1:24
I was glad I was able to catch that little moment on audio.
I know some of these folks!
💩
What is this? Is it larp? Is this from any historic source? Because I've not seen anything like it in any of the sources for one handed sword that I've read.
It is for LARP and/or foam combat. It's not rooted in a historic source as far as I'm aware.
@@Baelnorn gotcha. That makes a lot more sense.
The clickbait title on this is friggin awesome.
Lol, thank you! I thought it was pretty good for TH-cam.
PAMPLEMOUSSE!!!!!!! SUD!!!
Something I’ve wondered for a while now. Is there an etiquette to line ditching in Amtgard? You see, years ago myself and two of my friends, all skirmish fighters from Astral Winds moved to the Olympia area in Washington. At the time the local park was dead except for a large group that would travel to different lands in the state each week. When that group was in town we had lined up for a ditch and after lay on I took a quick survey of the field and we opted for a flanking push, absolutely rolled it and the enemy team. And much to our surprise they were pissed, absolutely pissed at us. "That’s not how you fight!" They yelled, and treated us like crap the rest of the day. To this day I still have no clue what they were going on about.
Sorry you had such a bad experience. etiquette can be regional, the game is so big, but in my experience flanking a team is not shunned upon but I am limited to mostly the Pacific Northwest. Now, running wide around a flank, not engaging them, and backstabbing after you've gone unnoticed because you won't engage, that can cause a ripple. But that doesn't sound like what you did. If you're in the Olympia area again, I suggest you give the park another try. They have flourished in the last few years and is a thriving park. They even have a warlord or two fighting out of there.
@@Baelnorn oh I will. Looks like an entirely different crew nowadays, top that off if my friend Sir Pyro likes them they can be bad. ^_^
@@akdustable Sir Pyro is pretty good peoples.
Damn dagon and crit is scary
They sure can be!
yall need a bigger place to fight in looks good much love
The pit was pretty small! We made it work though.
Why do you not use real larp swords?
The speed and power in which we swing with in this LARP would cause bruising if we used latex based weapons.
We had something similar to this towards the beginning of this reign. Interactions with monsters, bandits, even a black dragon, and other player groups.
That sounds really fun! I hope it went well.
Love seeing Matrix, Devry, Skorry, and Louie out there.
Me too! They are good peoples.
Died to the ol high cross
Highcross #1 in the hood G. but really great time at the event. Super cool peeps in yalls area.
@@DeathLilly1355 I'm glad the camera audio caught your reaction to the highcross, it was gold. I'm glad you enjoyed your time and made the long trip to visit.
No malintent meant here to Jayme but this is exactly why bearpits should not count towards warlord numbers, and why we shouldnt really count streaks like this. Notice neither Carlos, nor myself ever were in his ring. Two of the top 3 fighters never got to fight him in this run. 1 washed up warlord who was out of practice, one that was only using a single sword, (All the same company) were there giving him troubles, but his win was not predominantly increasing in caliber as a d.e. tournament would generate making us fight stiffer competition every round and ultimately fighting the best repeatedly throughout a streak. Love the videos, don't stop posting them, but this isn't the right context of a streak...and yes you said kill count, but the significance of the number recognition could definitely be taken as relevant to the w.l. streak number
I understand what you're getting at. I only highlighted it because, well, it's TH-cam and it gives people a reason to watch it more. Which worked by the way, watch time was up! Also there was a local warlord in the mix, not that it invalidates your observation, but Devry did fight him and lost. A bearpit is different than the escalating difficulty you find in the standard bracketed tournament. It is worth having the discussion!
@clalibus this really highlights why streaks should count. Diego, yourself nor any other warlord streaked more than 10. Deathlilly took people to the paint and did so 21 times. Pretty impressive.
Grand Marquis is still really difficult to get.
It is and the requirements are a weird one. It can also be slightly different from kingdom to kingdom.
Way back when I came up with the idea for what Neverwinter put in its initial corpora. AFAIK it was the the first instance of it but havent researched it. I just wanted something that reflected a renaissance amtgarder who wore all the (job) hats at some point.
I know Blackspire inherited it's definition of Marquis from the old Burning Lands corpora. It may have been tweaked since it was adopted though. I have no idea of the time table for that though.
I wish Amtgard had more incentive to bring RP a little more forward. And now I wish there was a Bel park here in EP.
I don't know, compared to Bel, I think Amtgard has more incentives to RP, people just don't as much. Honestly RP in Amtgard varies by region and goes in waves, at least in my experience. It can be hard when you want to RP but other people don't. :(
The answer to Critias question is fancy hats. People always respect a fancy hat.
Fancy hats are always the answer.
The way i've had the noble titles explained is they are the griffins of the crown path. The only things i've been able to do with it though are pull rank in a flurby battlegame and have a man at arms.
I've never heard it explained that way, but the analogy is sound. But yah, they don't do much out side of roleplay and taking a man at arms.
Dagger is a great resource for this.
This was the first time I met him! He certainly sounded well versed in the subject. I liked that he was fairly concise.
