I know this is an old post, but wanted to comment anyway. I always wondered how borders were done this way, I’ve been quilting for over 20 years and could never wrap my head around this, until now. I’ve searched a million quilts, tutorials and read many blogs and never found directions on this, never knew exactly what to type into even search this particular technique. Thank you for posting this and explaining with clear directions, it seems so very simple now. 🙂❤

i just recv'd this ruler. where exactly is the seam allowance on the 30 degree edge pieces? didnt you say the SAs were included? so do we cut on the center line or 1/4" beyond?

The sound is horrible, cuts in and out!

This is nice but not enough information on how to use the block as a border. How would one construct corners?

why not just mark down the middle corner to corner, then sew on each side 1/4 inch instead of buying a ruler. Then just trim it up to a 4 1/2 square
