I was up on second balcony (I fear the pit) and I recorded up to the part where Su told us to turn on our flashlights then I had to stop so I could obey Queen Su. From my perspective it looked like I was viewing stars from above. Really lit up the venue

Being very into edm music, I was pleasantly surprised Babymetal had a song like this. I think why it was a Japan exclusive and they haven't performed it live before was because there's a lot of processing of the vocals and it's quite experimental. Still hoping they do it one day, maybe for some video-game related event.

Nice reaction. For some reason in my head. I have thought of this song as possible the last song they worked on with Yui. That's why they haven't performed it live. Or why there is no MV for the song. But they have a lot of songs they don't have MV's for. Truely a fun song with another strong uplifting message to it by Babymetal. In this case comparing life to a video game. Babymetal gets high scores from me all the time. They are doing a radio show on Friday in Japan as the host. at some point they will go over messages to them and maybe even call ins to the show. I hope they get a question about this song. The one song they never did live. Or maybe that's the mystique about it they want to keep. The foxhole is deep and full of surprises.

Metal Galaxy was very experimental in their growth I think! The first track “future metal” was very electronic sounding and I think BBAB has a similar sound, maybe they put this as a bonus track to put the feelers out with the fans? In my mind Suzuka’s vocals are exceptional as she keeps making our jaw drop 👍🏼

Nice one! I enjoyed this song, but you’re right, not my fav. My opinion/thoughts: This song is a fun “experiment” for Su & Moa to do something different. Babymetal usually blends or juxtaposes pop and metal in every song along with other styles. I feel this song is the exception. It is very much just a pop song, with minimal “metal instrumentation”, and very heavy use of synths. Don’t get me wrong, it is a fun song, and if this was the intent, I’m happy they were able to experiment and have fun with other styles. But may be tough to squeeze in to a setlist live at a metal show 😂. 🤘🦊

Of the songs with big voice effect, it is one I think it fits well. Wild thought: this was planned as a Yui solo song. Not too crazy on the vocals, could have a fun choreography. They released it to show support, but never performed it to show respect. I have nothing to support this idea, just my meandering mind.

BxMxC and this song were the Japan only tracks. It has always been my theory that BxMxC was meant to be a Black Babymetal song, since up to that point, they handled all the rapping. I think BBAB was the other BBM song. One Su solo song was going to be Kagerou. Not sure what the other may have been. If we ever see BBAB performed live and it's only Moa and Momoko, you heard it here first.

It is overlooked mostly because it was a Japan exclusive track and because there is no live version - and most people tend to watch and listen to the live performances. A lot of people who didn't import the Japanese release (or weren't fortunate enough to visit Japan in person to buy a copy there) may not even know it exists. Why there is no live performance - I have no idea.

    • @rah2287

I don't know what it's intent was, but I know it was written by Ryu-metal, who had only written lesser songs at that point (Meta Taro, Elevator Girl and Oh Majini), but recently he has upped his game by writing Mirror Mirror and co-writing Metalizm, the Legend and Metali. The reason I always liked this song though was because of the arrangements by Yuyoyuppe, he gave it a quirky vocaloid sound. One possibility of why it is neglected is that maybe they wanted one of those super obscure tracks in their discography, one that people initially might not like much, but after a while it's rareness makes it more elusive and people want to be performed live one day. Uki Uki midnight was similar in that needed more time become a more loved song. Another possibility is that if Kagerou was originally supposed to have been a Su solo song, then this may have been intended as a Black Babymetal song, (The 'we are the champs' line makes me think this) and they didn't think it was worth learning choreography for it, so left it as it is. If it were my decision, this would have been a solo Moa song (it would have been well loved then LOL). And I would ressurect it in the future as a rare live performance, and make a cool video game inspired graphics and choreography for it and put it on their channel. They recently ressurected Yava and Syncopation, so this idea is not to much of a stretch.

My first experience was a random TH-cam suggestion for Gimme Choco. Needless to say, I was shocked and half hated on it but low-key enjoyed it. Then I saw the Doki Doki Morning MV, and amplified both feelings. I'm 47, and already in my early thirties I realized I had gotten bored with contemporary western music. I initially started working my way back in time, trying to find older music that had somehow been overlooked or forgotten (or at least not played to death on the radio during my lifetime). But although I discovered a lot of interesting music, and found a new appreciation for progressive rock and jazz, I was painfully aware that I was just retreading old ground. I didn't want to be another grumpy old man who complained that modern music was all crap, and that everything was better when I was young. I knew on an intellectual level that there was more music being made than ever before, and people were not less talented. I was just reluctant to leave my comfort zone, and needed to force myself to expand my horizon. So I made a very conscious decision back in 2010 to listen to more international music, starting with French music. I had made the discovery that listening to songs in a language that I didn't understand that well kept me from being annoyed with stupid lyrics (which, for a long time, had prevented me from enjoying songs that were otherwise excellent from a musical standpoint)! And that realization made me more adventurous. Knowing that Japan is the third largest music market in the world, I decided to tackle them next. I had heard a bit of Japanese pop music over the years, and never really liked any of it, but figured there must be a whole other world of alternative music over there that never reached casual listeners in Europe. I did indeed discover a treasure trove of amazing music of all sorts, and almost completely stopped listening to anything but Japanese artists. Eventually, in 2012, I came across _Doki Doki Morning,_ which I loved. I absolutely dismissed the whole Babymetal thing as a gimmick, but the song was catchy enough that I did google them a bit. I saw the music video for _Ijime Dame Zettai,_ but didn't like that one as much. I also watched some Sakura Gakuin stuff, which I realized was not at all for me, and might be the reason I sort of forgot about Babymetal for a while. At some point I did go back and watch the videos for _Iine_ and _Headbanger,_ and those got added to a few of my playlists, but I still didn't take Babymetal very seriously. When _Gimme Chocolate_ blew up in early 2015, I loved that as well, and realized that Babymetal was not just a one-hit wonder. While I had never been put off by the obvious gimmick, it hadn't quite managed to see past it until then. I started digging deeper, found _Megitsune,_ and read there was an album on its way. And I haven't stopped listening since. That being said, I am not completely uncritical of Babymetal, and the decisions Koba has made along the way. I still think the first album is the best by far, and that maybe he never quite understood the genius of his own creation. Or at least he and I seem to disagree what the best and worst parts of Babymetal are. But nevertheless, the music is generally amazing, the girls are talented and charming. And I think the controversy around the group makes for very interesting conversations about genres, constructed groups, and what it actually means for music to be original, authentic and _good._
