By all accounts, Jack was a rough diamond -- so to speak -- in his pre-Big League days. But I always admired him. I had a couple of mates who played under him at Parra. He didn't take crap and he was always fair dinkum. He was respected. And, in my opinion, very very smart football man. I miss the bloke's quotes and opinions. I don't know who the greatest coach is, but I don't think anybody revolutionized the game to the extent Jack did. He's the one bloke in league I would've loved to have interviewed but I came on the scene a fraction late. RIP JG.

Was at this match, although I don’t support either side. Great game. Coincidentally, I recently watched an old vid of a game played some years earlier between two schools, with Benny Elias in one team and Ivan Henjak in the other. In that one too, the team with Henjak scored a narrow win, despite Elias playing a blinder.

I remember this game. It was a low game. Not much of a crowd there either. Dragons were so bad that day.
