you’re correct! in my case, the tests i took weren’t really applicable for my major & classes i need to take. ap physics only counted for elective credit, i already tested out of english classes through my ap lang score, and i’m retaking calculus for my major anyways.

I got a 4 this year. I would say that you can't ONLY know the formulas. Plug and Chug won't work. I think what helped me was knowing WHY the formula made physical sense and how the formulas are related to one another. Make sure you know why something physically happens. Many formulas can be rearranged to fit certain needs so don't rely on only the formula given. I don't know I'm just a student and not a teacher but that's what helped me. (I know I wrote this a while ago but here's an example of what I meant). Momentum is represented as p, mass as m, v as velocity, t as time, and acceleration as a. Momentum is given as p=m*v. Change in momentum (∆p=m*∆v) is also equal to impulse and impulse is F*t, so F*t=m*∆v. Now if you divide both sides by "t" you get F= (m*∆v)/t. ∆v/t is equal to acceleration so it can be written as F=m*a. F=m*a also happens to be the equation to newton's second law. See how they're related? (I know that might have been confusing).

Okay, I got a 5 on physics 1 this year. First of all, have your formulas memorized--that's half the battle. The questions are difficult so don't waste time looking at the formula sheet. Also, don't overthink the multiple choice. The conceptual problems...write down formulas. How could you relate the given situation to a simpler one? For me, multiple choice questions were always the hardest because you had to go so fast and sometimes, they'd hit you with really outlandish stuff. But really, a lot of times you could use mathematical reasoning to make it easier. Really work on mastering the free response, because they end up being repeated a lot more frequently and are more predictable, so you have a better chance of mastering it. If you can get a really high frq score, you can counteract a lower multiple choice score and still get a 4 or 5!
