Pacific Raceways Circuit Race - Sept 4th 2024 - Masters 35+ Last Lap
Last lap of the last race of the year for the Masters 35+ Open category. Peter and Ben on our team, Hagens Berman, are in contention for the wide angle podium for the season series. Peter ends up third on the night and third for the overall series. Ben ends up 5th for the overall series. I believe Gary on our team got 4th on the night and I think I was 6th. Great season and great work team!

Wasn't feeling great in this race. A big break went off at the start, and despite breaks never surviving in the 6pm, I got nervous. I bridged over and that basically blew me up.

Last 3 laps of the weekly bike race in Kent Washington at Pacific Raceways outside of Seattle. This is the Men's Masters 35 Category. Team tactics are becoming more important since some riders are trying to protect their season's standings or improve to make it into the top 5 overall for the year. In this race there is a break of 3 up the road that stays away. On my team, Hagens Berman, we have...

This was the final stage of the Tour de Bloom. I am racing in the 50 1/2/3 category. It is a combined field with the 35 1/2/3 field but scored separately. There are probably about 75 riders left in the two categories. I actually felt a bit better in this stage compared to the previous 3 stages but was really using it as a good training block since I was not close to being in contention.

    Wow, TH-cam is reading my mind. I raced cat 1 in the early 90's, and after some time off the bike, I've spent the past couple years rediscovering my passion for riding. In addition to losing 60 pounds, I've learned that I still have the capacity to suffer while overtaking most everyone on the bike trails. This video is inspiring me to get back in the mix. What was the race distance, and how long did it take to complete?

    • @salishseacycling
      @salishseacycling 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Race distance was about 47 miles (76 kilometers) and we did it in 1h 56m. average speed of about 24 miles per hour (38.6 km) It has been a lot of fun getting back into it. It is also great to see all the people that have stuck with it for the last quarter century. Since I am racing in the same general location as I was a couple decades ago I have been able to catch up with many old racing friends. At this age the social aspect is as important as the physical.
