Bonjour monsieur sur mon om616 j'ai une goutte qui sort par seconde, alors que je pense que vous avez la goutte toutes les 3 secondes si je comprend votre vidéo ? " CAR NORMALEMENT CE QUE DIT MERCEDES UNE GOUTTE TOUTES LES 3 SECONDES " ? Le soucis c'est que j'ai l'impression d'avoir de l'avance quand je démarre la camionette, je n'arrive pas à me regler sur une goutte toutes les 3 secondes comme sur votre vidéo biensur sans toucher la mannette d'accelération de pompe . Même quand j'appui sur le levier d"acceleration de la pompe cela ne change rien pour passer de 3 secondes à 1 secondes ? je résume, j'ai une goutte par seconde et j'ai l'impression d'avoir de l'avance quand je démarre ? j'ai bien reglé sur 24° avant PMH et la pompe sur son repère .D'après vous il faut que je recommence le réglage en bougeant la pompe vers le mode retard ? pouvez-vous me donner des renseignements ? merci

Beste Michiel, Graag zou ik in contact met je komen. Voor een documentaire ben ik geïnteresseerd in de 8mm film Paramaribo, Surinam 1972. Mocht je willen meewerken zouden we de historische beelden graag opnemen. Het is echter moeilijk om met je in contact te komen aangezien er geen emailadress is gekoppeld aan je account. So startet man Diesel, vor allem im Winter: ausgiebig vorglühen, bis die Hinweislampe erlischt, ggf. mehrfach und bei unruhige nach dem Start ein bisschen Gas geben, um im Stand die Drehzahl zu erhöhen, bis der Motor von sich aus rund läuft. Das ist kein warm laufen lassen des Motors und weder eine Ordnungswidrigkeit und erst Recht nicht strafbar, schadet dem Fahrzeug nicht, sondern, im Gegenteil, schont das Auto. Und - es ist bei vielen youtoube Videos zu sehen - haben das selbst viele Truckfahrer im kalten Nordamerika einfach nicht richtig drauf. Müsste aber nicht nur Fahrschulwissen sein, sondern in jeder Bedienungsanleitung eines jeden Diesel - Fahrzeugs früher, wie auch heute, so geschrieben stehen.
Klasse Auto, da werden Erinnerungen wach..

What is the main purpose of this engine? Generate electricity?
To pump water out of the polder. Polders in the Netherlands are below sea level, so the water needs to be pumped out. In the olden days we used windmills, then steam or petrol or Diesel engines, nowadays it is mostly done with electric pumps. This engine is a monument and functions as reserve (in case the electric one fails).

Steam tugs have usually condensing steam engines, the steam is recycled. You only need to burn coal when the pressure is low and the load is high. The high funnels create the draft needed for the coal fire to burn. In trains the exhaust steam is injected into the smoke chamber, so that there will be a good draft without a high funnel, that creates a big cloud of smoke and steam.
Where is all the smoke from the funnels?
when operating efficiently, most steam powered vehicles don't actually produce all that much smoke

driver76fan The early W123-200Ds had the pull starter knob and you could also adjust the idle by turning it, the later ones (like this one), always had a idle-adjust knob.
I see. Is there a way to modify the 200d not to use the knob? Or at least, if I used the 200d engine in a swap (eg a Fiat 124), do i still need to have a knob? Thank you!
driver76fan You can do without, it is not really needed. It is a cable which pulls on the diesel pump lever, the same as if you press the accelerator pedal a bit.
