I feel the 2nd Judges emotions❤️ and that is why I don’t know if I can do this Casa Volunteer. I would be crying every time 😢🙏🙏🙏

I’m so sqd thqt Rochester MN doesn’t have CASA opportunities. The closest that O could fine are the Twin Cities.

I am in week 5 of my Casa training. I have passed mapp classes and would be a registered foster mother already if my home wasn't so old. But I found my calling in casa. I'm a part time aunt instead of a full time mother. The judge has an agenda to get their cases seen. The "Prosecution" has an agenda to clean out case loads as fast as possible. The bio parents have an agenda to prove. The ONLY person who has no intrinsic bias is the casa. We are not part of the foster system. alWe are not the bio family's attornwy. We are not clerical support. We are a friend who's whole job is to make sure the child's agenda is heard. A case I recently observed was a teenager. She had been in foster care for 2 years now. She is going to finish middle school this year with 3 months left to go. The judge said mom had completed all her needs and could take custody back. But our CASA volunteer (it was court observations day) made sure the foster system, the bio family, and the judge understood that if we wait 4 months for reunification it would go a lot smoother and healthier for all involved. Judge set the next hearing for may 30th. She will be able to attend the spring dance with her friends, she will be able to focus on "finals". The child will be able to emotionally prepare for reunification now that she knows it's likely and not just a fantasy. Become a casa. After the training your commitment is less than 10 hours a month unless you want more. Write a monthly overview letter, visit your kids at least once, and touch base with your casa coordinators. How long do you realistically think it will take to do all that in a month? Maybe 5 hours? And court is only every 60, 90, or 6 months. It's not a weekly commitment. Be a part time foster parent for a kid in desperate need of a stable adult. I promise it is worth it.
