Mega Man Zero 2 - Boss Fight Combat Guide
มุมมอง 3802 หลายเดือนก่อน
The combat system in this game is completely different from its predecessor; it serves as a prototype for the following games in the series, including ZX and ZX Advent. There aren't many exaggerated combos to work with in this game, on top of having a more unique bunch of bosses. This ranks the game as the most difficult one in my list. The variety of combat forms and EX skills however, helped ...

My, how the almighty Four Guardians have fallen! - Dr. Weil (MMZ3) Harpuia is one of my favorite go-to for consistency training. How to ride the landchaser in Mega Man X5 with only 3 buttons

The landscape is so badly damaged that even Alia made a comment about it. The main takeaway of this short video is to show that with well timed jump/dash/attack (even easier with rapid fire) inputs, there is no need to move forward or backward with the left/right buttons. This video is recorded on Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2, with additional sound effects from Mega Man 8.

The wealth of knowledge here is insane
Use my knowledge.
This video should be the top result for anything related to the Sunken Library or Volteel. The knowledge here is essential for making the level significantly less tedious. It's very well presented too; clear visuals and concise information. Excellent work! A couple of side notes. The difference between Dr. Weil's and Omega's data rooms is vital if you plan to use Reflect Laser against Volteel. The ceiling spikes interfere with the laser's trajectory, so ensuring that you're in Weil's room is key. Luckily, you don't need to jump up and pan the camera to check. Weil's disk is in the corner of the room while Omega's is at the center, so it's easy to discern which room you're in. In the end, I do still wish that Inti didn't go with this level concept. I feel that they proved that they can execute a level with branching paths much more competently with the Teleporter Base in Z4. Still, the Library serves an excellent purpose in the story, so it's not all bad.
I actually spent more time on deciding how to present this than preparing the materials, even though I struggled a little bit to gather Mega Man themed visual aids. I'm happy that this published version allows timely pause for people to digest the information and to discern the rooms given in their respective playthroughs. Despite the potential confusion in Sunken Library, I do feel that the non-platforming difficulty is unique on its own - despite having the most graceful regular stage clear time limit in the game, I place this on par with Energy Facility solely for this puzzle-ish design. And also yeah, the Sunken Library is perhaps the most important location lore-wise in Z3 for its connection to the period of time before the series.
Great video! Good explanations. Editing was well done🎉
I hope that helps!
Hey, cool.
2:12 onward is just unholy. I can only imagine how much time you spent in these games. THIS is how these games are meant to be played.
How do you charge both main and sub weapon at the same time?
On the options menu there are 3 types of attack mode's, only attack mode B can charge both weapons at the same time.
Yep. Only attack mode type B lets you use both weapons independently of each other. It’s basically the same as how the X series did it from X4-8.
@@lightningedge but how do you actually place your fingers on the controller? You can charge both weapons while dashing and jumping. Assuming you place your main in RB dash in LB then jump is A and sub is B. How do you charge both weapons while dashing and jumping?
I play this on keyboard via Steam’s version of legacy collection so I can’t advise you on that. However, I’d say it’s a norm for people to press two buttons (A and B) with their thumb at the same time.
@fyuira9585 for me, dash is on rb, sub weapon on lb. If i want to keep my weapons charged, my left index finger presses lb to charge sub weapon, tip of my right thumb hits my x button (im using a xbox controller), so i can still use the rest of my thumb to jump on a and can still dash with my right index finger on rb. Hope that helped!
Excellent work! Even if Z2's combo system is the most limited, you did a great job explaining it and showcasing just how stylish the boss fights can get. I'm especially happy to see the Shield Boomerang featured so prominently, particularly against Kuwagust. Impressive job manipulating the Shield there and performing those precise dash jumps while holding it.
I have your videos to thank as a huge part of my homework. There's going to be a ton of explaining to do when I get to the respective boss analysis.
8:50 that finish was beautiful, like something out of a cinematic.
The inspiration came from this - th-cam.com/video/-twSzee4NFc/w-d-xo.html
You made the bosses look so dam easy. I like the explanations
Keeping things simple is probably what I do best. 😆
Well done!
That wall jump in the Leviathan fight was risky business. 😅
A friend told me the same too! It was the clutch that made me want to keep the footage.
I love these Z1 videos you’ve been doing, very satisfying to watch! Learning new things I can try to apply in gameplay myself in the little breakdowns is always nice 😊
Nice job. The folks on RA don’t deserve this amount of help!
Beautifully done. Fast, efficient, and stylish-all qualities that embody Zero. Using the dash slash to catch that Carryarm at 0:49 is brilliant, and the jump slash into Skull Crush on the Carryarm/Spiking combo shortly after is very cool too.
Some of the things are discovered by pure accident, but it looked satisfying to me personally so I decided to keep them in the final choreograph. That also enables me to showcase what is possible/can be done despite the difficulty.
I really liked the way you explained what you were doing. Doesnt take away from this impressive feat. Youre amazing!
Holy shit you did it 🎉!! Under 1 min!
I sure did.
This is amazing thank you
Great work! I think that the combination of Aztec Falcon's somewhat odd hitboxes and the time pressure are probably what trips new players up the most. Jumping over his magnet pull saves a ton of time, so it's good that you showcased that before going for the final hit.
Yeah. I think the magnetic pull deserves mentioning the most because not only is it intimidating, it's generally how he stalls the fight since the only way to hurt him is by slashing while jumping over him. I daresay it's something that people normally wouldn't think of doing to save time in the heat of adrenaline.
Great video as always
You, sir, have a PhD in Mega Man.
Well done!
You don’t even need the shield to Saber “Dash” Cancel!?
I personally see it as a design oversight so I chose not to abuse it.
I never knew the charged rod could keep the elephant stun locked. Thanks!
This is a phenomenal guide! The strategies you came up with for each boss are stylish, yet still not too taxing to pull off. I'm a big fan of your method of fighting Harpuia since you incorporated the spin slash as part of the combo loop. The Phantom fight was super fun to watch too; the mirage sequence at 7:38 was really cool, ending with that slick shuriken dodge. Great stuff!
It's a shame that such a degree of incapacitation only happens in this game - which led me to think that it's perhaps a good thing since this places the game at the bottom of the difficulty scale. If you think about it, the four Mutos bosses are indirectly representative of the Four Guardians when it comes to general strategy. - Ganeshariff is extremely easy when looped properly like Harpuia. - Blizzack flinches and staggers a good distance like Fefnir, which warrants the control to happen at the edge of the arena. - Anubis being airborne and made easy with upward stabs/charged saber matches the fight against Leviathan. - Herculious and its stagger resistance matches that of Phantom, which also discourages recycling the combat sequence used on other non-airborne bosses. The first four bosses are training dummies to me, the Four Guardians are the real deal that puts all the training into application. Thanks by the way!
@@lightningedge That's an excellent observation regarding the four Mutos Reploids in the final stage. I never thought about it like that.
This is so cool!
Now that was incredible 🎉. GREAT JOB!
Wait you can charge and also attack how?
Weapon control type B
At the bottom half of the button config screen, attack mode Type B lets you use both main and sub weapons independently of each other.
An excellent guide! This is a great way to get some consistency out of a fight that can otherwise be quite random and chaotic.
Honestly I can’t find any other way to make the fight simpler and shorter. 😅
This what you get for using that discusting anti-aliassing shit
i love the MMBN edit with the instructions. great work as usual!
yeah man. i only wish Lightning's other mega man pals are as good as him! wonderful video!
You probably could've done a reversal in grounded slash with model lx
@@Jacknte I could have, yeah. However, most of the time my main objective isn’t to pull off difficult stunts, but rather to find methods that anyone can perform with minimal effort. Reversal is something that requires lots of practice to solidify its fluency, hence I opted out of it.
@@lightningedgeunderstandable
BURN TO THE GR-auh Zero : yeah no thanks
Why didn’t I think of doing this before?
The "too weak" at the end just fits too well
The disrespect 😂
This is sick!
I'm surprised that none of GutsMan's attacks have breaking properties. Poor guy has to watch his entire moveset get reflected. I'd certainly enjoy seeing you tackle more Battle Network challenges.
I know right? You'd think for someone capable of breaking panels like MetalMan (let alone multiple at a time), Guard would be useless - but its lack of penetration is proven with such futility. I hope to eventually accumulate more footages to showcase how shield-based playstyle can be quite underrated. Till then, this is but a casual stunt if I may say so myself.
Hey, thats not how youre supposed to play the game!
@@zoonisha4387 Technically I’m not the one trying to win. 🤣
@@lightningedge just give up gutsman, i have the high ground!
I love that the barrier remains too x )
Talk to the hand !
Zero probably talks to Copy X's hand.
Lore accurate Copy x as how zero viewed him
0:19 it sounded like he said hadoken
Nice job juggling Copy X by following the charged Triple Rod with the diagonal stabs. I like how you ended the fight just before Copy X was about to heal. It made it seem like he was just pointlessly shouting at Zero while jumping away.
You make me feel sorry for Copy X.
Perfect and stylish fight!
lol
Excellent work, I'm glad I could help inspire you! I love how you incorporated the speedrun strategy of having the Shield revolve around Zero before the fight begins. The difference in the elevation of the Shield is interesting; using this method allows you to hit him during the mirage attack instead of jumping to dodge, but you have to make that tricky jump over his swooping dive in exchange.
I was initially going for a full no-button press, but it’s way too RNG based to achieve that since his patterns have to be done in specific order to achieve this feat - and it boils down to the stage run to set up his RNG. Possible? Yes. Do I want to spend time on that? Not really.
Hey, that's not how youre supposed to play the game! Mindblowing as always 😂❤
this was so sick! you continue to amaze!
